Chapter 3 - poor in both worlds

As Li Ang gazed into the mirror, his face reflected at him.

He tried to activate the portal to the other world using his mind, but the mirror remained unresponsive.

He attempted to touch the mirror, but of course, it vanished instantly. Deeply contemplating the mirror, he found he could materialize it inside his head instead of it being a visual object in his vision.

In Li Ang's mind, he could actually see the other world inside the mirror and he could move his mental vision inside the mirror.

Upon entering the other world of the mirror with his vision, his vision was in the spot where the void portal first manifested.

He was pleased that he found a feature of the mirror, but soon he couldn't help but frown, because his house, being in a dark place, gave Li Ang a headache.

The flames that lit up his house all went out. He guessed that there were probably a few strange anomalies nesting near his house now.

Li Ang moved his mental vision a little away from the original void portal location and suddenly felt tired mentally. He got out of his mental vision, guessing that the power of the mirror was using his mental energy.

Overcome by sleepiness, he came up with the idea of using the mirror at night to force himself to sleep.

…

In the 2 following days, Li Ang worked in construction as a temporary job to earn some pocket money. To avoid burdening Uncle Han further, he found a cheap inn room to stay in. He was told to be quiet at night, for fear of alerting the ghost.

A deceased individual was discovered at their residence this morning. His body withered and lifeless. Rumours say that he became like that because the ghost heard a noise from his room last night.

at night, when Li Ang started his routine of experimenting in the mirror before going to bed, he somehow summoned the portal.

he finally summoned the portal, but he was unsure if he wanted to return to his old world, considering his previous experiences.

Assuming the void portal wouldn't shut instantly after entering it, and seeing it was possibly morning in the other dimension, he decided to check his old house and come back after picking up his belongings.

He peeked into the void portal, assessing its safety, and realized it was morning. The dense fog had simply made it seem like night.

After entering his house, he found out that the place seems a little empty, and his coins were gone, especially the items I used to scare off some strange anomalies. Someone looted his place after Li Ang was away.

It was really disappointing but not unexpected.

Fortunately, the intruder left the herbs for the medicinal bath untouched. Possibly he was unfamiliar with the herbs or was in a hurry.

Seeing that the void portal is still open, Li Ang quickly packed his clothes in a bag together with the herbs, and pack the cooking utensils in another bag, then return to the void portal.

Once in the other world, seeing the void portal remained open, he attempted to close it with his mind. While thinking about it, the portal slowly shrank and in its place appeared a hand mirror.

He attempted to open the portal using his mind again, but nothing occurred.

The portal appears to be on cooldown, and Li Ang won't be able to open it again for a few more days.

Convinced he'd grasped the mirror function, Li Ang was satisfied.

He is currently experiencing poverty in both worlds, and now he is looking for a way to make a proper income.

He's making 20 teals from the construction job right now, which barely covers his lodging and meals. If he lacks sufficient food and ingredients, his strength will stagnate or even decline.

He should eat a satisfying meal before taking the Lifebloom herb to maximize its blood-nourishing benefits.

If he can't become an immortal cultivator after 6 months, he'll aim for innate mastery and enjoy 200 years in the mortal world.

If the Innate master doesn't have a great status in this world, then he could just go to the other world and become a lord with many wives and concubines.

he know that dream is far off, so for now, his goal is to finish the body refining stage before he hit 30.

Feeling sleepy, Li Ang lay on his bed and closed his eyes.

...

In the morning, after eating his breakfast and going to the construction work, Li Ang went to the market to check on the prices.

He discovered that the herbs he uses for medicinal baths are priced 10 times higher here. He returned to his inn room to pack most of his herbs, leaving behind the lifebloom herb and 10% of the herbs used for his medicinal bath.

In the marketplace, Li Ang sold his medicinal herbs for 360 teals.

His mind raced with the potential profit he could make by selling herbs from the martial arts world in this one, filling him with excitement.

Renting a more spacious place for training is something he should consider soon.

he went to visit uncle Han's house, inviting him to have a meal in a restaurant, to repay him for the hospitality when Li Ang was a guest at his house.

with a full stomach, he went back to the inn where he borrowed the kitchen to boil the lifebloom herb, making it ready for digestion.

As the lifebloom herb's effects took hold, he felt his energy surge back, dispelling a hidden fatigue.

His blood felt richer, his mind clearer, and his body lighter.

He speculated that consuming 2 or 3 additional lifebloom herbs would enable him to reach the advanced blood level in the body refining stage, thus qualifying him as a second-rate warrior.

Recalling that exercise speeds up digestion, he stepped out of the inn and began exercising in a vacant area.

After practicing his martial skills for 1 hour, and realizing it was getting dark, Li Ang was startled and reminded himself to focus on the time.

fortunately Li Ang arrived at the inn with no trouble.

The innkeeper was initially annoyed by his late return, but a generous tip was enough to win back his smile.
