The sun dipped below the horizon as Ye Luxia's army approached the Nine Dragon War Lords' stronghold. The fortress loomed, its walls adorned with the emblem of the Nine Dragons.
"General Jian, prepare the siege engines," Luxia ordered, surveying the defenses. "We'll breach the walls before dawn."
Jian nodded, directing the soldiers.
As night fell, Luxia's camp buzzed with activity. Warriors sharpened blades, checked armor, and whispered prayers.
_The Unexpected Visitor_
Luxia's tent flap opened, admitting a hooded figure.
"Who are you?" Luxia asked, hand on his sword.
The figure revealed a scarred face, eyes gleaming with madness.
"I am Zhang, the Madman of the North," he declared, voice low and gravelly. "And I've come to offer my services."
Luxia's instincts screamed warning. "What makes you think I need your help?"
Zhang chuckled, displaying crooked teeth. "I know the War Lords' secrets. Their weaknesses. And I'll share them with you... for a price."
Luxia hesitated, intrigued.
_The Madman's Proposal_
Zhang outlined his plan: infiltrate the fortress through hidden tunnels, gather intel, and sabotage the War Lords' defenses.
"The tunnels are treacherous," Zhang warned. "But with my guidance, you'll succeed."
Luxia weighed the risks. "What's your price?"
Zhang's grin widened. "A share of the spoils... and the head of Lord Qiang."
Luxia's eyes narrowed. "Why Qiang?"
"Personal vendetta," Zhang replied, eyes flashing with fury.
Luxia made his decision. "You'll get your chance. But betray me, and you'll suffer a slow death."
Zhang bowed. "I'll serve you faithfully, Ye Luxia."
As Zhang departed, Luxia summoned Jian.
"General, we have a new ally. The Madman of the North."
Jian's expression turned skeptical. "Can we trust him?"
Luxia's gaze hardened. "We'll use him. But watch him closely."
