We relaxed for a week as the reward was 5 large gold coins, a troll would normally be a large gold coin or even less. Eshur just like any other dwarf, we drowned in alcohol and kept waking up in the alley, I saw Harry going to a shady witch after the witch said she was selling hair growth creams. Harry froze when he saw me, but I pretended I didn't see him and continued to the inn. Terry was going around proposing again to his crush but he kept getting turned down and being chased by a man, apparently the man was her husband, Terry like married women. Ifa would often hang around the orphanage and the brothel, her family was in debt and her little sister was sold there, luckily she had enough to pay the debt so she left with her sister.
Life was moving smoothly, I met up with the gang at the guild, Harry had a beard but Eshur uses a sticky paper to strip it off giving him his handsome shining face. Maybe I have a thing for Harry, but he doesn't seem to notice, always going on and on about beards, maybe is should have burned his fake beards off. Anyway, Harry and Eshur were duking it out but Harry was losing since the dwarf was sturdy, I entered the guild and saw a Terry who's beaten blue and black, a group of married men trapped him and had....a nice conversation with him.
Ifa was happy as her little sister was now working as a bartender in the guild and they both looked happy together,
Guild receptionist, Liara was making an announcement on a platform at the center of the building, "Excuse me everyone, the guild master is coming to give an announcement *NOISE* Excuse me! *NOISE* EXCUSE ME!" A vein is popping, a lucky bastard was juggling plates attracting attention, "*FIREBALL! *BOOOM* CAN I PLEASE HAVE YOUR ATTENTION! *Silence* The guild master wishes to speak." She steps back as the guild master steps forward, Adamantine Adventurer about 50 years old, retired and a macho man.
Guild Master smiles wryly, "Thank you Liara dear, remind me to give you a pay raise."
Liara shrugs, "Yeah right, this old man will only give shady requests later." The other receptionist looks at the guild master with disgust.
Guild Master is flustered, "Well…You…Ay… Going on a date with my son isn't a shady request. Ah-hem." He address the whole guild, "Thank you all for your attention, I'll get straight to the point. We're in danger *GASPS*, a dungeon break has been confirmed from the Abyssal Sanctum, so far we've only made it to the 5th floor but with the appearance of new monsters, another path has been opened that leads to even deeper floors." Adventurers whisper about the treasures and loot to find, "I know some of you are eager, a group of Mithril adventurer adventurers went to investigate and…..only 2 survived out of 7 or them *GASPS* the monsters there are on a whole new level, the threat level is already high so I want to organize a raid. If we can solve the cause of the dungeon break we might be able to prevent a Monster Tide, I ask that anyone with any skill set can join since we'll definitely come across situations where we need to make a settlement in the dungeon like Aliphas Peak Dungeon. If we can move deeper into the Abyssal Sanctum and make a settlement there, it might be the step we need to conquering this dungeon. Those who wish to join can speak with the receptionist to register for the raid, and as usual you'll be rewarded for participation. *CHEERS*" in a few moments adventurers are registering, even merchants joined since they wanted to set up a shop in the new settlement in the Abyssal Sanctum dungeon.
In 5 days preparation was done, a raid involving 120 adventures with 2,000 soldiers participating for the raid. This number was enough to show just how tough the fight was expected to be, although soldiers normally don't take part in raids, the guild master convinced the king to send them since it's possible to come across an army of monsters in the dungeon and a few 100 adventurers won't be enough. We marched out of the city towards the dungeon as some had excited faces yearning for adventure, some nervous and others making bets. Men will always be men.
Isolde speaks, "Hey Harry, what do you think this raid will be like?"
Harry was rubbing his chin with a cream, "Huh oh yeah, I'd say I've got a good feeling about this one, no matter how strong a monster is, it can't fight 2,000 soldiers and adventurers."
Terry swells with pride, "Yeah that's right, we can beat them alone with numbers."
Eshur speaks, "The guild old man getting the soldiers will make this even easier, not to mention the knights joining with most of them being C rank. We can beat anything that comes our way, and get paid for 'participation'" I could tell he was happy, this force was enough to take over a city as the knights were very strong.
I (Isolde) saw that Ifa was nervous so I approached her, "Ifa, what seems to be the matter?"
Ifa speaks in a low voice, "Nothing, just a bad feeling that has been bothering me since we started this raid."
Eshur shrugs, "Always the pessimist, lighten up Ifa. The most we'll face is a goblin king and even 100 knights can take that thing down, with us adventurers fighting, we'll kill it in no time."
Terry speaks, "Nice words of encouragements." Eshur replies, 'Thank you' Terry continues, "I was being sarcastic. Anyway, no goblin kings will be in the Dungeon, the most we'll face is a dragon monster and even that we'll beat it with our numbers. Just as the cranky dwarf said, 'Lighten up'."
Ifa nods, "Alright, I'll try." But her thoughts, "This feeling, it's like I'm walking to my death. Should I tell them? But even if I did, we have to complete the raid or whatever that's giving me this feeling will bring a disaster once it leaves the dungeon. *Sighs* I hope we make it back alright. I've got teleportation scrolls on all of us so we can escape if things look bad." She didn't make her thoughts known as they continued and arrived at the Abyssal Sanctum entrance in 2 days.
The raid party started clearing the dungeon floor after floor, 1st floor had rat monsters which were a lot so the soldiers helped with that. 2nd floor was home to bat monsters as they met the bat boss, they lost 2 adventurers and 20 people. 3rd floor was home to orcs and goblins, towards the end of the floor were kobolds. 4th floor had kobolds and wolves. It seems the kobolds were fleeing to the 3rd floor. 5th floor had fire wolves. The boss wolves could spit fire. 6th floor had trolls and minotaur, the boss was a troll (8meters) but it was fighting with a group of minotaurs so the party waited for them to beat each other up and swooped in for the kill. The 7th floor was where the party had it difficult, they came against a 15-meter 4-armed minotaur with weapons, it was the only monster on the floor as it seems to have been fighting for days killing monsters from the next floor.
We grouped ourselves into batches to fight the boss as we intended to exhaust it so we can kill it, there were 3 batches as they attacked the boss. The boss was strong as we the high ranked adventurers were the only ones able to keep up with it, the rest used ranged attacks on the boss.
Platinum adventurer shield was really strong as he would block the attacks of the boss as other groups would attack it, we used skills to attract its attention and kept the pressure on it for hours before it started showing signs of exhaustion.
We were doing a good job until 'it' showed up. That was the first time I've seen a monster exert so much pressure, even the guild master was cautious of the new monster. It sat on the path leading to the next floor as the path turns into a cliff the closer you get, the corridor to the next floor is steeper. We were lucky to bring ropes for reasons like this, we planned to climb it with the ropes and continue to the next floor, but it seems another boss monster was joining the battle,
Isolde is surprised, "What! It's not going to join the battle." I was in the rear with the group using ranged attack, the leader was the second Adamantine adventurer in the kingdom, Justo Gi. The Guild adventurer led the battle, I was watching the demons on the cliff as Mister Gi was speaking,
Gi observes, "I get the feeling those are the cause of the monster tide, they seem to be intelligent since they're just watching. Once we're done with this boss I'm sure they'll join the battle."
Guild Master signals, "NOW!!!" Harry was right beneath the boss monster, he jumps high as he receives buffs and the other adventurers propel him as he swings his broadsword with all his might severing one of the 15 meter 4armed minotaur's arm off.
*ROOAAARR* it roars in pain as it tries to kill Harry but a shield appears around him as Ifa shoots an arrow into the eye of the boss, she was waiting for the right moment and this was it. The boss monster was blinded in one eye as it got more blind spots and the table were turned, they fought hard as the minotaur boss monster was pushed back, its knees were injured and it fell down and fought for its life. What made it possible for the tables to turn was the distraction the demons on the cliff were causing to the boss, the boss looked like it was weary of them as it often looked at them and that was when we got the chance to corner it.
