"This is… immense," murmured Kayl as he looked up, observing all the lights flickering above. "It seems like the lights have no end."
"That's because they actually don't," replied Isaac.
Suddenly, as they ventured further into the world, they observed something that looked like a village. But not only that, they could also see a huge creature approaching them. It had a strange shape, combining elements of a dragon and a wolf. Its fur glowed with blue, red, and yellow lights, and its eyes were a mix of fire and an intense orange that could be seen from afar.
Kayl was both impressed and frightened as he saw the creature getting closer, opening its mouth.
"AHHHHH! RUN!" he began to scream desperately.
"Kayl, wait… it's not what you think," Isaac shouted as he saw his friend grabbing anything he could to "fight" the approaching beast.
Kayl grabbed the first thing he found, thinking it was just an object, until the strange "object" started yelling angrily:
"Ahhh, let go of me, filthy beast! I'll bite you until you're handless if you don't let go right now!" screamed the small creature, while Kayl stared at it, stunned, still holding onto it.
"I… I'm sorry," he stammered, releasing the creature, which looked at him with disdain. "I thought you were just a rock or something."
The creature dove back into the ground, and Kayl remembered what he was supposedly running from, until he saw Mr. Morey petting the enormous being as if it were just a regular dog.
"Coquito! My precious baby," he said tenderly. "You've been waiting for me, haven't you? I missed you so much, my little darling."
"Kayl, let me introduce you to my father's pet," said Isaac, rolling his eyes as he watched his father fawning over his pet. "It seems he loves it more than his own children."
"Don't listen to him, Coquito; he's just jealous," his father said with a look of mock annoyance toward Isaac. "You never disobey me like my children do."
While Isaac and Ellie rolled their eyes at their father's words, the animal approached Kayl curiously, who was still afraid of it. What the young man didn't expect was for Coquito to start jumping on him with excitement, as if it had missed him, and to begin licking him.
"But…" Kayl tried to cover his face with his hands to avoid being licked by the animal, though it was impossible because of Coquito's size and strength. "I give up, you win."
"Hey, he's mine!" Félix began to shout, fury in his eyes. "Get away from my master!"
For some reason, the small cat scared Coquito, who was thirty times bigger than him, a fact that puzzled everyone present.
"Hey, beast," Eliam shouted seriously at the animal. "Here, I brought this especially for you."
A huge piece of meat fell next to Coquito, who grabbed it quickly, happy to have it before anyone else could take it.
"What about me?" said Félix, putting on an expression so sweet it could melt anyone.
"I don't feed chatty, selfish animals," said Eliam with a mocking look. However, he couldn't resist the tender gaze the little cat was giving him. "Ugh, here, have some."
"My charm never fails," said Félix, satisfied.
"If you come with me, I'll give you all the food we have," Ellie said, her eyes shining with affection. She had remained silent during the journey, but now she couldn't resist the look of the cat, which filled her with tenderness.
The cat, frightened, quickly jumped into Kayl's arms, who still seemed a bit bewildered.
"Alright, let's go. Get on top of Coquito; we're running late," Mr. Morey mentioned, sounding a bit tired. "We could travel through another portal, but I don't want Kayl to get dizzy again. So, you two," he said, pointing at his children, "will accompany him home with Coco. Eliam, are you going with…?" He didn't finish his sentence, seeing that Eliam had already left. "Well, I suppose we'll meet there; I need to rest."
Lucio Morey vanished without another word, while the young ones climbed onto the beast. Once everyone was settled, Coquito began to fly as fast as he could.
"And of course, it flies too," Kayl said sarcastically.
