Chapter 62 - Chapter 62 ⥤ When Things Go South, Prepare the Payment Method

The explosion Aizen had expected didn't occur.

Instead, dazzling electric arcs burst from between his closed fingertips, intermingling with scorching flames and raising the dormitory's temperature.

The energy at his fingertips pulsed — expanding, compressing, and contracting — making the back of his hands glow crimson, their blood vessels forming intricate patterns beneath the skin.

Even from a distance, one could sense the terrifying destructive power contained within.

Akira grinned, "Sōsuke, look, it worked! I truly am a once-in-a-century genius in Soul Society. The Academy really struck gold with me!"

Witnessing this, Aizen realized that once the Kidō patterns were successfully imprinted, they became an inherent characteristic of Akira's Spiritual Body. Controlling Byakurai and Shakkahō had become as natural as controlling his own limbs.

For this priest, it was pure instinct — like the rare ability to lick one's elbow. While most found it impossible, some uniquely gifted individuals could manage it. Clearly, he was one such person.

Unlike the previously used Sekienton (Red Smoke) — or rather, Akashirai (MC's creation) ****— this current fusion represented a fundamental deconstruction and merging of Kidō.

Where the former merely complemented existing powers, this technique transformed their very nature. The complexity was incomparable.

{T/N: Explaining the above, the MC in the created Hadō merely implemented his own nature into a Kidō, like adding electricity to a weapon. It indeed made it more powerful, but it was just a complement. Whereas now he is mixing two natures from his own body, being able to modify and integrate them completely in any way he wants, creating something new. It's as if he could now transform and manipulate the metal of the sword and turn it into electricity.}

Akira pulled apart his clasped hands, revealing a brilliant spectacle between his palms — prismatic colors reflecting new hope. Even Aizen found himself captivated by the sight.

Burning thunder and blazing flames merged into one, the destructive spells combining to achieve more than 1+1>3.

"I've decided," Akira said confidently, "This technique will be called 'Hakasei Shirodenka' (Devastating White Electric Fire)!"

Hearing this name, Aizen raised an eyebrow.

Before he could comment, Akira furrowed his brow and began kneading the glowing fusion in his hands like dough.

Soon, a straight sword materialized in his hands. Its glass-like surface reflected the merged lightning and flames, while intense heat warped the surrounding air.

"I've decided, this name sounds better." Akira declared, raising the sword high, "Raienken (Thunder Fire Sword)!"

Aizen's brow furrowed. Though the name seemed oddly straightforward, he sensed there must be deeper meaning behind it.

Also, did this count as completing an original Kidō?

As he studied the Thunder Fire Sword in Akira's hand, his pupils contracted when his gaze reached the blade's center.

Without hesitation, he instinctively released binding defense, establishing it before himself while placing a barrier around Akira.

The next moment, his danger sense screamed. Akira had no time to think — he simply threw his magnificent creation away.

BOOM!!

Blinding lightning combusted instantly. Endless arcs of electricity erupted from the narrow blade as massive, terrifying shockwaves spread in all directions.

The ground cracked and walls collapsed. Heavy Reiatsu poured out uncontrollably like a bursting dam. Scorching waves exploded from the impact, and amid the thunderous roar, white-hot light shot straight into the sky!

When Akira crawled out of the rubble, Aizen — having prepared in advance — was in better shape than him.

"I have good news and bad news." Aizen said, pulling him up and noting that this beast had only sustained minor external wounds.

"I'm a kind person who can't bear bad news, so just tell me the good part." Akira replied, still somewhat dazed despite having no internal injuries.

He hadn't anticipated the Raienken being so unstable, with its conflicting powers causing this accident.

"The good news is, because its power was so concentrated, it only destroyed three dormitory rooms."

Since the dormitory was newly built, they had specifically arranged it in a scattered layout to prevent similar accidents.

The facts proved that Uruoi Kaoru (their teacher) had shown foresight.

"Isn't that perfect?" Akira's mind cleared, "This way we'll have less to compensate for."

"Let me correct you — it's you, not we." Aizen said expressionlessly, "Also, you should hear the bad news. To prevent you from violating academy rules, Kaoru-sensei moved his quarters next to our dormitory. Coincidentally, it's not class time right now."

Akira glanced sideways.

In the ruins, a hunched figure leaned against a cracked wall, his gloomy gaze fixed on the two of them.

Uruoi never imagined that merely two days after the new dormitory's construction, this kid would blow it up again.

Forget it. I'm tired — let it all be destroyed.

"Ahem, what a coincidence, Uruoi-sensei." Akira greeted him sheepishly, "This time it was just a tiny, uncontrollable accident during training. About the compensation... same as usual?"

The old man, who looked ready to reach for his blood pressure pills, gazed up at the fawning priest and heaved a heavy sigh.

"Please train farther from the dormitory next time, would you? As for compensation, it'll be deducted from both your mission rewards."

Hearing this, Akira's brows furrowed as he looked at him in surprise.

"Did you get hit in the head with a rock? You're being unusually reasonable today."

Uruoi took a deep breath, burning with anger, but just as he was about to explode, he found that the blood pressure-raising brat had already vanished.

Only Aizen remained, their eyes meeting.

Clearly, sensing the imminent outburst, Akira had realized things were going south and made a hasty retreat.

Since he didn't have to pay compensation, he might as well continue practicing his original Kidō — he'd been thinking about this for a long time. More precisely, the Thunder Fire Sword had always been what he desired.

"We'll do as you say." Aizen cleared his throat and calmly said, "Given the difficulty of the two missions, the rewards should be more than enough."

Uruoi calmed himself and nodded.

Regarding Aizen, he had few negative impressions; in fact, model students like him were always beloved by all faculty members. If he weren't always hanging around Akira, slightly tarnishing his reputation, he might have been even more popular.

"Oh, one more thing," Uruoi suddenly called out just as Aizen was about to leave, "Principal Sasakibe returned from the First Division yesterday and specifically called me to discuss many things about that Kisaragi kid. Keep him in check for a while — the Thirteenth Division might send someone to evaluate him."

Aizen frowned, "Is this related to the 32nd District incident?"

Uruoi shook his head, "I'm not sure of the details, but the principal didn't ask about that mission's specifics, instead asking many questions about that kid's daily life..."
