Cara adjusted her camera lens, trying to calm herself. The lights glittered on the ballroom floor, and in those reflections, she saw him. It had been years since she had seen him, but the sight of him still affected her very much. It had taken her nights without sleep and consolation to get to where she was, but the sight of him had undone the effort she made.

It was the annual gala of Grey Enterprises, leading company in the tech industry. Cara was excited to have been given such a big breakthrough that she failed to consider gala such as this was an event he would come to.

Five years had passed since they were together. Initially, it was hope that somehow he would come back. Then the hope turned into despair, anger, and numbness—or so she thought. As she captured the moments of the gala, memories of their happiness and how into each other they were ,floated into her mind. She wondered how Dave would feel about Ash. He probably would have liked Ash as they were so similar,not only in their appearance with their brown locks and dark eyes but also with heir habits.

Dave stood tall as he always did, dressed in the finest attire. He shone as he used to. Time had not taken away the spark from him but only enhanced it further.

He was the man she remembered—the one who had been her everything. The man who had left without a word.

She turned away from him. She could not afford to let him affect her, especially not now, after everything she had been through. With a deep breath, she focused on her work through the night.

As the hours flew by, her work hours came to an end. She could not wait to get out of there , into the comfort of her home with her baby.She bade goodbye to the organizers and walked out of the side exit to avoid encountering him.
