Chapter 1 - Chapter 1: The Last Pitch

Goro Honda had always known his limits. Through sheer will and determination, he had pushed his body to the breaking point time and again, refusing to let anything stand between him and the mound. But on this day, standing on the field beneath the glaring stadium lights, he felt something he'd never felt before—complete exhaustion. His vision blurred, muscles aching as if they'd been pounded by a sledgehammer. But he couldn't give up now. Not when so many were counting on him.

The game was down to the final pitch. One strike separated his team from victory, a win that would take them to the international championship. Goro dug his cleats into the dirt, sweat dripping down his face, and stared at the batter with unwavering focus.

He reared back, feeling every fiber of his being scream in protest, and threw the pitch. A perfect, blazing fastball.

But the moment it left his hand, a sharp pain burst in his chest, bringing him to his knees. Goro gasped, clutching his heart, and in an instant, the world spun. His vision darkened, and the cheers of the crowd faded into an eerie silence.

When Goro opened his eyes again, he was blinded by sunlight. The cold stadium grass was gone, replaced by soft dirt and the familiar sounds of birds chirping. His heart raced as he sat up, confused by his surroundings. He was no longer on the field—he was… in a small neighborhood park?

He looked down at his hands, noticing how small they were. Frantically, he scrambled to his feet and ran to a nearby puddle to check his reflection. A familiar, youthful face stared back, framed by the wild hair he hadn't seen since elementary school. This wasn't a dream. He had somehow been transported back to his childhood.

"No way… I'm a kid again?" he whispered, touching his cheeks as if to convince himself that this wasn't an illusion.

Suddenly, a message appeared before his eyes in glowing text, floating in mid-air.

[SYSTEM ACTIVATED]

Welcome, Goro Honda. You have been granted a second chance. Use it wisely.

"What the…?" Goro muttered, watching as a digital display appeared, showing a set of stats:

Stamina: 20/100Strength: 15/100Speed: 10/100Pitching Skill: 5/100

His heart pounded with excitement as he stared at the stats. This was… a game-like system, something he'd only seen in video games. He had stats now, just like a character! And if he was reading it right, he could improve them.

"Wait, does this mean I can train myself to be even stronger?" he wondered aloud. The thought sent a thrill down his spine. This wasn't just a second chance—this was an opportunity to become the player he'd always dreamed of being.

Determination burned in his eyes as he clenched his fists, already envisioning the training he would put himself through. With this "system" helping him, he'd reach heights no one had ever seen before.

"Alright, bring it on!" Goro shouted, grinning from ear to ear. His journey was only beginning, and this time, he'd make sure he had the strength to go all the way.
