Chapter 104 - Chapter 104: Fugaku, You’re Not Thinking of Prison Break, Are You?

Walking through the streets of the village, Mirai exhaled deeply.

As long as I run fast enough, the fallout won't catch up to me.

Seriously, this is supposed to be a lighthearted harem story. The damn author needs to stop writing all these love triangle drama arcs. Would it kill them to just let things stay peaceful?

After muttering to himself, Mirai headed straight for the Konoha Police Force headquarters.

"Leader Mirai!"

"Where are those two troublemakers from earlier locked up?"

"In the underground prison."

"Lead the way."

The oppressive atmosphere of the underground prison—a dark, damp space—set the mood as they arrived. Mirai stopped in front of the cell where Koharu's and Homura's grandsons, Gentarō Koharu and Kazashi Mitokado, were being held. Without hesitation, he pushed open the iron door and stepped inside.

"Uchiha Mirai, you'll pay for this!"

The moment they saw him, Gentarō shouted at the top of his lungs.

Kazashi joined in, equally indignant. "You've dragged the entire Uchiha clan into this mess! You'll regret it!"

Mirai frowned, glancing over his shoulder at Inaho and Tekkō, who stood behind him.

"Leave them breathing."

Inaho and Tekkō grinned, their excitement palpable. Dealing with this lot from the Hokage's camp had been a long time coming, and they weren't about to waste the opportunity.

Before long, the dungeon echoed with cries of agony.

"Leader Mirai, we were wrong! Please, give us another chance!"

"Yes, we'll compensate you—name any price!"

Kneeling before him, tears streaming down their faces, Gentarō and Kazashi begged for mercy. But Mirai's expression betrayed nothing but disdain.

Sarutobi Hiruzen and Shimura Danzo might have ruthlessly eliminated opposition for the sake of their power, but at least they had backbone. Koharu and Homura, on the other hand, let their clans run amok, turning Konoha into a cesspool. And these two? They couldn't even handle a little street justice.

Mirai scoffed inwardly.

If Fugaku had half the spine to stand firm, the Uchiha wouldn't have fallen to the brink of extinction.

"Leader, what's the plan?" Inaho asked, his voice tinged with eagerness.

Mirai snorted. "Lock them up for two weeks. Make sure my conditions are met."

Inaho's grin widened. "Understood!"

The sound of rushed footsteps interrupted them as Hachidai entered the dungeon, his face tense.

"Mirai-sama, Fugaku-sama is here." He hesitated, glancing at the disheveled state of the prisoners. "He says he's here to take them with him."

Hearing this, Gentarō and Kazashi's faces lit up with hope.

In the Police Force's main hall, the atmosphere was heavy with tension. Every officer present held their breath as Fugaku sat stiffly, his face stormy.

Clapping his hands together, Mirai broke the silence.

"Fugaku, what brings you to the Police Force today?"

Fugaku's eyes narrowed the moment he saw him. "Mirai, you've gone too far this time!"

Mirai casually took a seat, sipping his tea. "Oh? What have I done now?"

"You've locked up Koharu and Mitokado's grandsons in the dungeon! Do you not realize the audacity of your actions?" Fugaku bellowed.

Mirai chuckled. "They broke the law. I simply followed procedure."

"Procedure?" Fugaku sneered as if he'd just heard the most absurd thing. "You think a trivial ordinance is enough to justify arresting the Hokage's advisors' kin?"

Mirai waved dismissively. "Let's skip the lecture, Fugaku. Why are you really here?"

Fugaku's tone turned icy. "Hand them over and come with me to personally apologize to the advisors."

Mirai raised an eyebrow. "Fugaku..."

"What?"

"I sometimes wonder if you're even part of the Uchiha clan."

Fugaku's face darkened. "What are you implying?"

"Exactly what it sounds like." Mirai's voice carried an edge of mockery. "If you've fallen this low, you might as well bash your head against a wall and be done with it."

Standing, Mirai's expression turned serious. "I'm not releasing Gentarō and Kazashi. Stop wasting everyone's time."

Fugaku's fists clenched as his anger flared. "I'm the Uchiha clan leader! I will take them, whether you allow it or not!"

Mirai's eyes sharpened. "The Police Force is under my command. Without my authorization, no one leaves."

Fugaku's voice grew harsher. "What if I insist?"

A cold, dangerous glint appeared in Mirai's eyes. "Fugaku, you wouldn't be thinking of breaking them out, would you? If you're prepared to face the consequences, by all means, try."

For a moment, Fugaku stood frozen, caught between his pride and the reality of his powerlessness.

After a deep breath, he spoke more measuredly.

"Mirai, don't let your emotions dictate your actions. One step back can resolve this peacefully."

Mirai smirked. "You're right. It's just one step." His voice turned icy. "Go tell Koharu and Homura to take that step. Two weeks, and I'll release their kin."

"In the past, maybe we bent over backward to avoid trouble. But from today onward, the Uchiha will never back down."

Fugaku's jaw tightened. "Mirai, you—!"

"Escort him out." Mirai waved a hand.

Inaho and Tekkō stepped forward. "Fugaku-sama, this way, please."

Fugaku's eyes flicked around the room, noting the resolute faces of those present. Realizing he was outnumbered and outmaneuvered, he let out a long, frustrated sigh before storming off.

This isn't over, Fugaku swore silently. If he didn't restore his authority, his position as clan leader would be as good as gone.
