The goal of the day was simple, explore the terrain surrounding me, and tame my first magical beast. This may seem like the most simple task, as a powerful and newly awakened magical beast who was already obedient to me was vying for my attention now. Sadly, I have already attempted this multiple times. I asked Siya, what was the meaning behind this, as Ari's loyalty was at an all time high. Her response was simple.
'You and Ari, are both summoned hero's with your own destinies. Both of you will walk your own paths, which will sometimes lead you on differing adventures. You should look at her, more as a sibling, then an allied magical beast. Dogs, which were common when you lived, are now almost extinct, as they did not transition well to the magical age. Ari's destiny lies with this, while yours will take your on a similar but varying destination. This is for your benefit, as her strength will greatly surpass yours in the beginning, but eventually you will eclipse her once again. This is a future concern, as for your paths wouldnt diverge for sometime'
It took me a few minutes to deal with the brutal truth of this, but I understood what Siya was trying to say, the level gap between me and Ari, will cause a problem, either I will get power scaled and have no skill for my level, or Ari will be held back for what could be years. Yet, I still don't wish for the day that we will have to split. I will try to push it off until at least level 15, there is no reason we wouldn't be paired until I have enough strength to stand on my own. This is what any hero would do. So, my mission was simple, I was going to learn the one spell I had in my arsenal, beast tame. I was unsure how to first use my spell, so I sat, crisscrossed and mediated. As my mind went blank, I felt something thrumming inside my body, almost like a blood flowing throughout my body but stronger and more… magical. So I focused on this feeling, I focused on finding it and harnessing this power. It swelled throughout my body, as the mana circled to each muscle and nerve. And then I pushed. As hard as I could, I pushed and I could sense the power leaving my body, and going into the world, like an invisible breath, the mana leaked.
Siya then explained
'First Spell has been created, beast tame, with this ability, you will be able to make pacts with magical beasts that live in the wild of Mearth'.
Yes!! My first spell and it was exactly what I needed. Now, it is time to find a beast to use it on.
So with my frame of mind set, I went out to find my first tamed beast, which turned out to be much harder than expected. I sent Ari out to chase down some animals, and see what sprung. This was one of her favorite hobbies when we went on a walk, so I expected this to be an easy task. I was clearly wrong.
Ari sniffed the uneven terrain quickly, following a specific scent. As she followed the scent, the ground shifted an a huge worm like beast shot out of the ground. It had brown scales, with a parasitic mouth, and no legs. I immediately jumped out from where I was standing to dodge the attack, but this thing was way to strong from me to tame, hell, I was unsure if Ari could actually kill this Beast.
"Ari, Kill the damn thing, now! It is way too fucking strong!" I yelled at the top of my lungs, as I climbed the nearest tree. Yes, I was hiding during the battle, I had no weapons, no armor, and no real plan. Hell, I don't even know how to actually tame a magical creature, I just thought id wing it.
Siya, what is this thing?
"This is the Bayonetta Wyrm, a subclass of dragon. The creature is Level 71. Affinity is Earth, and Darkness. A brute strength monster, who is weak to water, light, and fire. Weak points under the mouth, and the eyes." I remember one famous variation of the Wyrm and it used this method well. Damn, I must be deep in the woods to encounter a BOSS like this. Yet, Ari had a higher level. It was going to be a challenging first fight, but I've played video games here and there. Hopefully, I can coach Ari to a win. With this thought, I made strong eye contract with his brown eyes, signaling a calm demeanor. Ari was all bark and no bite at the park, but he was known to kill squirrels and moles that ventured into our yard. This giant worm was no real threat. I convened all of this into my gaze as I held it for a few seconds before giving my command.
'Ari, use Shadow Bolt on the creatures Eyes, after blinding the beasts, attack the throat.' This should be common for the majority of creatures. I shouted loudly. I then started to grab near by rocks and distract the Wyrm, giving Ari a chance to attack.
I wish the battle went this easy, a few big hits and the Wyrm dies, but instead, Ari had to use his whole arsenal of attack spells and maneuvers, but in the end, once he was able to get a direct hit on the first eye, the battle swung in his direction, as his 7 level disparity took effect.
Ari now attacked the Wyrm with a finishing blow, as he used shadow claw to finish the Wyrm off. Upon the death of the beast, the dead carcass glowed, as a sandy orb floated outside of the body.
I grabbed the large orb and examined it. Yet, as I continued to stare, Siya spoke up without needing my question.
'You have obtained a legendary grade Beast Core. These are extremely sought after, and are used in Human, Magic beast soul bonding ritual. It would fetch a very large sum in an Auction house. '
Always adding your take, rather than just being blunt with the descriptions. I guess she is a guide for a reason.
So now I was one legendary beast core richer, but I still had no clue how to go about taming a beast. Yet, I did know how to lure out animals in the woods, and a huge dead body just a few feet away would work perfect, so I decided to have Ari keep watch, while I climbed the nearest tree and practiced patience and taming.
So there I sat, waiting, and waiting. Finally, a rather strong beast approached, a mix between a coyote and a deer? It had a long slender body, yet it had two horns sticking out the top of its head. The beast had white fur, but piercing green eyes, and a few green spots, that matched its piercing eyes. The power was radiating, but that wasn't all, the posture and how the Doyote stood, I could tell this was a mythical beast, a rare variant. The perfect opportunity.
Siya, can I tame this animal?
'The Doyote, is a strong magical creature with deep lore. The current creature is level 30. Odds are improbable. On top of that, this creature is considered a rare variant. Meaning it has a strong bloodline and potential.'
'So you are saying I don't have a chance?'
'Yes. The Doyote is a scared beast of this forest. It will gain additional power from its environment, if you fought it right now'
Yet, Hell with the odds. I was the new MC, this worlds protagonist. So I had full confidence my luck would help me succeed in the endeavor.
I sent out a ripple of mana, the very little I seemed to have and propelled it towards the Doyote. Rather than a calm aura, that it seemed to have before, killing intent was unleashed.
Ari immediately jumped out of the tree and attacked the Doyote, chasing it off, as she didn't chase past a few hundred yards.
Okay that's it! I'm going to start small, a level one creature, and build him up. I don't need to make my first tamed beast a permanent bond. I just need to understand my powers, and then, only then will I be able to bond with a creature above my own level.
So now, my journey for the weakest magical beast began.
