Synopsis
After overhearing my fiancé's sweet-talking to his lover over the phone, I had him kicked out of my flat within the same hour. Even though I didn't have any plans after, I hadn't expected to find myself in front of an altar before a foul-mouthed red-eye hunk of a man. Elodie de Montmorency was what he called me, and Elodie had been a hot-headed villainess that was murdered by her husband, the garbage male lead, due to her raging obsession with the Grand Priest of Lux. I'm inside an R18 dark romance novel I read. The vows had already been read and even if I keep refusing to put on the wedding ring, my death flag was already in place. Did I get rid of one trash to find another?

Chapter 1 - Chapter One

The first time I had an inkling about his infidelity was when I saw the notification on his phone.

He had been in the shower, and I had been intrigued by an app I had never heard of before. I had picked his phone up with the intention of using my fingerprint to unlock it, only to find out it didn't work.

The second time was when I saw the little blue crochet dolphin I had made for him tucked under a pile of paper waste in the trash. Attached to it was a used false lash; I've never worn one in my life.

And the third was when I accidentally caught him babbling on the phone in the dining room after I had gotten off work early that day. The third time was today as I quietly leaned against the wall beside the closed door.

"Baby, don't be upset, okay? I'm planning to break up with her soon. Just be a little more patient...Yes, yes I know....Don't be upset, I'll take you out this weekend to buy that bag you wanted."

For some reason, a memory resurfaced, of a time I asked for flowers worth less than fifteen thousand won, and he berated me, saying it was a waste of space and money.

Maybe I should've asked for a bag instead.

I scoffed at the thought, he still wouldn't have bought one for me. Not for a fiancé who in his own words is only a six out of ten.

I silently stared at the ground. My chest felt tight but my eyes were dry.

It stings, but I don't feel any regrets.

I hadn't realised how detached I felt towards this entire relationship. I had initially thought I'd be a wreck if we broke up, but the pain wasn't as unbearable as I had imagined.

I glanced at the dining room door before pushing off the wall and walking to the front door of the flat.

Since I'm the main tenant I can get the building guards to kick him out. I opened the front door quietly and closed it as quietly before making my way towards the lifts.

Luckily it was only late afternoon, and by the time I reached downstairs the reception was still open.

"There's an uninvited guest in my flat." I smiled at the young woman sitting behind the desk at reception, who appeared bewildered, "Can I get you to kick him out please."

Things began moving quickly from there. I sat patiently in the waiting area downstairs and watched three bulky security guards practically hurling my fiancé, ah no, ex-fiancé through the semi-crowded lobby while he was cursing his heart out, attracting everyone's attention to him.

The sight was comical, and I cringed slightly at the thought of having nearly married him.

I strolled over to the reception again after he was out of sight, and passed the young woman my keycard, "Can I get all the keycards deactivated? I only want this card for access."

"Of course," the young woman was professional, not even curious as to what had happened.

It was normal, as the price I paid to stay in this place meant the resident's privacy and security were the most important.

"Here you go, all done". She handed back my keycard. "Is there anything else I can help you with?"

I smiled at her, my chest feeling uncomfortably tight, "No, thank you for your help, I really appreciate it."

"No problem, have a nice rest of your day."

It felt like a long way back to my flat; I wasn't sure if it was because everything felt surreal or because my chest felt like it was tearing with every breath I took.

By the time I had arrived at my door and pushed my way inside, I collapsed on the warm floor, my chest and throat burning.

Are breakups meant to be this painful?

Maybe I really will die from heartache after all.

I managed to let out a scoff at the thought before I passed out.

"Lady Elodie. Lady Elodie!" I felt unsteady when my conscience came too.

Though I'm sure it was due to the blinding sunlight and the thick scent of incense. However, it didn't distract me for too long as my gaze focused on the person before me.

A hunk of a man, several heads taller than me, with black hair, and a pair of red eyes, dressed in a white tuxedo was holding a rather large, diamond ring between his fingers.

Fictionally his features would be considered handsome, well aside from his eyes everything about him was handsome.

I was in finance so the number of good-looking men I came across was no less than ten a day, but with his chiselled jawline, slight stubble, thick furrowed brows and lashes, and perfectly gelled hair, and those muscular arms and broad chest, he really was hot.

"Stop gawking like a pathetic nuisance and give me your hand." His voice too was deep and smooth, but the unpleasant look he gave me was something I was familiar with. A look of a man gazing at something he deemed to be beneath him but being forced to interact with it.

Though my sight was still slightly blurry and my head was slowly developing the sensation of an oncoming headache I groaned, "Did Min-ji kidnap me while I was out? What kind of a sick prank is this?"

I looked around.

We were in a cathedral, and seated in the pews were several attendees.

"This is a rather expensive getup," I blinked the blurriness from my eyes and walked down towards the congregation, away from the man, priest and the altar.

"There's probably over a hundred people in here," I murmured while walking up to a middle-aged elegant woman, who appeared as baffled as I was intrigued, dressed from head to toe in a rather fancy Western fantasy costume.

"This outfit looks amazing."

I walked along the aisle looking at the actors whispering amongst themselves, appearing both confused and amused.

They really are professionals maintaining their role despite me acting out of their script, and their visuals were something else.

The budget was high for this prank.

I shook my head, trying to get rid of the headache, before stopping in front of the cathedral's main doors. I turned around to the actors trying to spot any cameras but didn't see any, they were probably hidden cameras.

"I don't wanna speak to that bastard, so tell him for me this wasn't funny." I turned and pulled the doors open, to only have my heart nearly stop at the sight.

Where the hell am I?
