Chapter 30 - Corruption

Kai stood amongst an endless sea of black. Not the faux, artificial one he had created in the jungle. This was the real black of death, the one created by Jideva herself. This was the sea that Kai could inherit if he mastered his corruption.

Somehow, Kai knew this. Though he had never met the Goddess, though he only ever felt the slight touch of her blessing, he knew this fact. It was as if some intrinsic part of him, deeper than even instinct, offered all of this to him.

Kai walked amongst this still, endless sea. Though the water under his feet didn't move, he was already terraforming the landscape in his mind. At first, shelters rose in his mind. Places where his old life would've been safe. Places where people like the beast who ate him would be banished from. He imagined slavers, servants, and other oppressed people living here, finally free from tyranny.
