He could always tell when Andy was out of sorts. So far, he could sense that something was amiss in her mood. Moreover, he could not understand why she was lying through her teeth.
"Andy, can I join you? Can we talk?" He finally found the opportunity to confront her as she sat alone by the poolside, dangling her feet on the water.
She was staring at the water while he gazed at her. But her eyes had this faraway look, telling him she had her mind somewhere else. He believed she must be in deep thought.
"Oh, hi, Tristan!" She appeared momentarily stunned to see him. But she quickly recovered, smiling at him as she patted the space beside her. "What is it?"
He could tell she was distracted. Was it something to do with her husband? Or did it have something to do with the pregnancy scare?
It was apparent he believed she was hiding a secret. If he had to guess, it might have something to do with her reason for lying.
