Stiil in the queue, waiting for their turn ,
" Ah Wei" she called.
" Hummh"
" Do you want any thing? I'll buy it for you"
" Jie, let's eat after we have gotten our tickets" he suggested.
" You're right " for some reason, Xing Li was very excited to stand here buying tickets.
" For two please "he said.
The seller looked at him.
" If you don't have the money, leave here this instance"
This baffled the two and many others in the queue.
" I want tickets for two" Ji Wei said again, ignoring her.
" I'm not here to listen to people begging me. Many has done that and I'm tired"
" Young lady, my brother asked to buy tickets not to beg you" she defends.
" Jie, " he held her hand and shook his head.
" You think I'm here to beg you?" Ji Wei asked pointing at himself amused.
" Are you not?" She asked sarcastically.
Ji Wei smirked. " Judging a book buy it's cover " he mumbled to her hearing.
He dipped his hand in his pocket and brought out yuan notes tied in bundles. Slamming it on the table,
" Is this enough?" He asked.
The lady was shocked. The money he brought was enough for four people at a goal. How could he manage to afford that amount in his clothing. Xing Li was also surprised but remained quiet.
" I heard you're a thief, did you steal this?"
That surprise everyone.
" Hey" Ji Wei called but this time, Xing Li held him and his hand and hid him behind her.
" Aren't you a little rude to my younger brother?" She asked.
" Should I be nice to him?"the sarcasm in her tone near turned Xing Li in to a fighting tiger. But she maintained her nice and decent figure. Waiting patiently for any curse words from her to her brother.
" Should we continue and waste the time of people here?" She asked not waved by her, the sassy seller." I can do this all day " she replied adding a little flinching that made the seller think she's possessed.
" We have to go to the bureau. My partner can take you there..."
The partner came and whispered to her.
" The head of the police department is here "
" Really? " She showed a surprised face yet proud.
" You wait, I'll treat your fuck up and teach you never to steal again "she proudly said.
Soon, the so called Head of police in their area came.
" Ma'am " they saluted.
" Any problem here?" The voice asked.
The familiarity in the voice gave Ji Wei a sense of deje vu that he calmly hid behind his sister not intentionally but by his sister's will.
" Ms. Wang, these thieves aren't leaving here creating a fuss." Replied she.
" Wah!!! We caused a fuss? I just quietly asked for two tickets and you started cursing me." Ji Wei defended. "
" Ah Wei... Calm down"
" Humph! Jie, that lady is just frustrating me. How can she call me a thief when I earn it wholeheartedly?" He pouts angrily.
"Prove it" the lady said.
" Okay, calm down..." She turned and saw the familiar face.
" You..." She pointed surprised.
" You? What are you doing here?" He also surprised.
" I'm here for my duties or, can't you see?"
" You work... You're an officer?" Xing Li was marvelled.
" Ah Wei, do you know her?"
" She's the lady that gave us the money and the phone " he whispered. she looked at the officer.
" Her?" Asked looking at her.
" Ma'am, do you know him?"
She nodded. " What did you say he did again?" She asked trying to pay good attention to her.
" He's a thief. He stole that money I'm sure of it" she stated as if knowing him so well.
" How can you prove it?"
" Well... He's known for his bad conduct. He's a thief"
" One question" Xing Li said not minding what others say or do.
" Have you seen him steal before? Or, has he stolen from you?" She asked.
" He hasn't done anything of a such, but.. many people has said it that he's a thief..."
" Rumors rumors rumors!!! And you believed them? My brother at that time, is either with me, or, in the fields working to make ends meet. Even the police are even tired of you people accusing him. You haven't seen him yet you proclaimed him a thief? Hah! Unbelievable" she smirks blowing her hair with the corner of her mouth.
" Jie" he called holding her.
" You would believe him because he's your younger brother. You should, elder siblings should dote on their younger ones. But I'm not convinced. A thief is always a thief and the person that supports him should be sent to prison. With a bitter punishment for accompanying a thief" she scoffed. Xing Li reaching her peak. Couldn't, but separate her hand from his.
" That's it!! " She shouted. It also scared the three of them especially Ji Wei.
" Call my brother a thief again, and the both of us will be struggling for who will enter the six feet. Or maybe, I'll make sure I bury you miserablely." She threatened. Ji Wei didn't say anything but smiled. Actually, he loved this side of his sister. Being all innocent made people look down on her. If the town bully knows about her fierce behavior when angered he's sure that their parents would be the first to run away before the town bully.
He dared not to. He could have, but he doesn't want to. His only anger is that, when he's like that, she always steps in. Like when they talked about having fun with her, she always stop them.
A time came when the town bully's son almost succeeded but was stopped by him. He almost killed him but he was stopped by her. And now, he's regretting why he didn't do that earlier. He prefers to rot in jail than watch his sister get married to that wretch.
Of course, not only Ji Wei but she. She kinda like this fierce character of her. She knows she would teach the seller a lesson, but she wants her to at least feel the anger of a sister seeing her brother being bullied because he just wanted to buy tickets.
All of these was fun to Ji Wei and her, but Xing Li wasn't finding it funny at all. While the seller felt cold sweat in her.
" Okay, no need to send someone early to their six feet. You" she called admist of laughter.
" Yes" Ji Wei finally said something while holding his laughter. The seller saw him and knew he was mocking her. She frowns hoping to get justice from the officer.
" Are you going to call the cops on me?" She asked.
" I dare not to. I mean, why would I?"
" No, you should."
" I dare not..."
" You said it yourself the person needs to be punished, didn't you?" She asked in a questionable way.
" Yes I did but.."
" I'm the one that gave him the money. Shouldn't I be punished?" She interrupted.
" What?" The surprised look on her face made him burst into laughter. He was holding in from seeing the fear in her face when her sister threatened her. Now, the surprised look hits different to him. That he couldn't hold it any longer.
" But..." She was more paranoid than surprised seeing him laugh at him.
" Here, aren't you going to arrest me I'm an accomplice after all " she raised her two hands in a way the police does when cuffing an offender.
" How did you..."
" Can't I help someone who helped me with something surprising?" She asked looking at Ji Wei. Xing Li noticed the both of them giving each other a movie like look.
" Ah Wei " she called bringing him back to reality, in the queue.
" I'm sorry I didn't know..."
" You've always treat others like that, this isn't the first report. So, I'll take actions this time"
She reached out to her pocket, brought out her phone and dialed a number.
" Is this the disciplinary department?" She asked.
" Good ---- there someone I'll send you----- judging a book by its cover ---- yes. I want you to teach her a big lesson that will make her never use her mouth to utter nonsense ever again. No problem, as long as she learns her lesson. Okay " she hunged up. With a stern look, pointed at her partner, who was lower than the seller.
" You" she called.
" Ms. Wang"
" From today, you'll replace her. Do you understand?"
He was surprised but he happily nodded.
Just like flash,they came to take her away.
" Hold on" they all paused.
To her, she was kinda relieved, thinking that she would have a change of heart.
" Give them the tickets they asked for" she told her.
She nodded, taking the money.
" Ahah" she stopped. " With your own money. I'll discipline you before they do"
She has to obey. They got free tickets. She waved at them... when she returns, she will take the role of a cleaner then the permanent role of her partner untill I change my mind. Remember, the cleaning job should be for a month, she waved again, and they took the irritating staff away for discipline.
Turning to them,
" How about an early dinner, I'm starving" she said patting her tommy like a pregnant woman.
The both look at her.
"Aiyo!" Waving at them again.
" My treat. I'll treat you all to your satisfaction." She smiled. Dragging Xing Li so, that Ji Wei would follow up.
" Ahh! Where are you taking my sister to?!!" He asked following them.
" To have dinner of course " she smiled looking at him.
