Chapter 85 - Chapter 85: Spider-Woman VS Kingpin

She's gone!

After hearing his subordinate's report, Kingpin suddenly remembered how Attorney Janie had rushed in last night, only to leave after being ridiculed.

"Hurry, bring me a computer!" Kingpin roared, his voice filled with fury.

The subordinate rushed out as if his life depended on it and soon returned with a laptop, placing it in front of Kingpin.

"Check it! See if there are any comments against me online!"

Due to his large size, Kingpin couldn't use the laptop himself. Several maids quickly gathered and started typing. Simply searching for "Kingpin" or "Fisk" led them straight to the site in question.

As they read the content, the maids couldn't help but tremble. In the past, they would have never dared show Kingpin such things, but now... it was his order.

Last night, Kingpin had scoffed at the posts. But today, he was carefully reading through every thread and comment.

Once finished, Kingpin fully realized just how foolish his actions had been.

Public opinion is a terrifying force, especially in a country where freedom of speech reigns.

As someone in power, how could he have forgotten this?

"No... I still have a chance..." Kingpin muttered, staring at his phone.

As long as Nick Fury didn't abandon him, Kingpin believed Fury's abilities could still suppress the situation.

"Nick Fury..."

He listened to the growing noise outside, clutching his phone with the last flicker of hope in his eyes.

---

On the deck of the S.H.I.E.L.D. helicarrier, a fighter jet landed smoothly.

Nick Fury and Maria Hill stood at the far end, watching two figures disembark. One was Agent Coulson, and the other was a man with a square-jawed face and a no-nonsense attitude, carrying a quiver on his back.

The two men quickly approached Fury.

"Director, what's the urgent situation that made you call us back?" Coulson asked.

Nick Fury replied, "You've had decent contact with Tony Stark before. I need you to go and get some information from him."

The other agent standing beside Coulson asked, "Isn't Natasha already stationed with Tony Stark? Since when has there been a man she can't handle?"

"Clint, maybe Tony's the first. Welcome back."

Clint Barton, also known as Hawkeye, like Black Widow, was one of S.H.I.E.L.D.'s top agents. Renowned for his extraordinary archery skills, he had earned the nickname Hawkeye.

Hawkeye shook Nick Fury's hand and said, "I'm guessing you didn't bring me back just for a chat."

Nick Fury nodded. "There's a simple task, but only you can handle it."

As he spoke, Fury gestured to Maria Hill, who stepped forward and handed a tablet to Hawkeye.

Hawkeye glanced at the information on the screen, then looked at Nick Fury in disbelief. "Kill him?"

Fury nodded. "Neutralize him. It's time for him to pay for everything he's done."

"Okay, I just wanted to confirm the target. I'm not interested in his past actions."

Hawkeye skimmed the rest of the data before heading off to another part of the helicarrier.

As Hawkeye departed, Nick Fury turned to Coulson. "Get ready to move. Tony should be back from Washington DC soon."

"Yes, Director!"

...

Outside Kingpin's Mansion

Inside a specially equipped van filled with various devices, George and several international police officers were stationed. They were here partly to maintain order and partly to prevent Kingpin from escaping during the chaos.

"Any movement inside the mansion?" George asked through his walkie-talkie.

After a brief burst of static, a voice replied, "Nothing so far. Kingpin is still sitting by the window. Everything seems calm."

Hearing how composed Kingpin appeared, George frowned and asked the detective beside him, "Has the court issued the arrest warrant yet?"

"Our team has already checked, but the court said they need to discuss it first."

George exchanged a glance with the inspector, and they instantly understood the underlying delay. The court was stalling, waiting to see if anyone would step in to save Kingpin. This way, regardless of whether they issued the arrest warrant or not, they could remain uninvolved.

After all, no one wanted their phone conversations leaked online again.

"Keep watching. If Kingpin makes any moves, report immediately!"

"Understood, boss!"

To George and the inspector, Kingpin was simply struggling in vain now. No one could save him anymore.

But upstairs, Kingpin felt differently.

"Boss, more people are gathering. The guys from the company said the mob trashed the office and is heading for the mansion now. If this keeps up…"

The subordinate who had come to deliver the news regretted it deeply. Why had he chosen this moment to show his loyalty to Kingpin? He was only throwing himself into the fire.

But it was too late for regrets. With the mob surrounding the mansion, not even a fly could escape.

Hearing the report, Kingpin could only place his hopes on his phone, wishing it would ring. Or, like last time, that the crowd outside would disperse on its own.

But as time ticked by, Kingpin realized that the protests outside were growing louder, and no one was leaving. In fact, more people were gathering.

A terrifying thought crossed Kingpin's mind, but he was too afraid to believe it. After hesitating for a moment, he decided to call Nick Fury again, wanting to know how much longer he needed to hold on.

Kingpin dialed the familiar number—the one he'd called most frequently in the past few days. Normally, the call would go through immediately.

But this time…

Nothing. The line was completely dead.

Kingpin slumped back into his chair, his phone slipping from his hand and crashing to the floor with a loud thud. But in the midst of the shouting outside, the sound was utterly insignificant.

"Boss... Kingpin...?" The subordinate noticed something was wrong and cautiously approached, calling out in a tentative voice.

In the next instant, Kingpin grabbed him with one large hand, the other covering his face. He threw his head back and laughed hysterically.

"Hahaha…!"

The laughter was piercing, grating even amidst the deafening protests outside.

Kingpin knew—Nick Fury had completely abandoned him. His last glimmer of hope was shattered.

It was over. Completely and utterly over.

But waiting for death wasn't his style!

"Boss, does that mean everything's fine?" The subordinate, held firmly by the collar, couldn't move and asked in a trembling voice.

Kingpin was laughing so joyfully—surely, everything must be okay?

But in the next moment, Kingpin slowly stood up from his chair without saying a word. Like lifting a small animal, he hoisted the subordinate off the ground.

"Chief, Kingpin just stood up," the sniper watching from a distance immediately reported to George in the van.

George quickly asked, "Is he making any further moves?"

Suddenly, the voice on the other end of the radio shifted in tone. "Watch out, he just threw someone…!"

Before the sentence was finished, George heard the unmistakable sound of shattering glass. The next moment, screams erupted from the crowd.

"Look, someone fell from above!"

"Run! Watch out!"

"Run...!"

Without hesitation, George rushed out of the van.

A black-clad man suddenly fell from the sky, impaled on one of the decorative spikes of Kingpin's mansion wall.

He died with his eyes open, unable to rest in peace.

Such a horrifying scene was too much for ordinary people to bear. Most of the protesters had come for the spectacle, never expecting such a shocking event to unfold. Chaos erupted instantly.

"Everyone, evacuate the protestors in an orderly fashion!"

"Move now!"

"Chief, look up there!"

At the team's warning, George quickly looked toward Kingpin's mansion. The third-floor window had been completely shattered. The man had been thrown out from the third floor.

Standing at the broken window, Kingpin watched the crowd below scatter in fear, and a satisfied grin spread across his face. "That's more like it. All that noise was giving me a headache."

"Fisk! You're surrounded! I advise you not to resist, or we have the right to shoot," George shouted, pulling out his handgun and aiming at Kingpin.

"Surrounded?" Kingpin scoffed. "Well then, let me throw a few more people your way."

He turned to the maids behind him, who had been frozen in fear. When they saw the predatory look in his eyes, they began screaming in terror. Kingpin reached for one of the fleeing maids with his large hand.

Just as he was about to grab her, a red figure swung in through the window, and a staff blocked Kingpin's hand, saving the maid's life.

"Run!" Matt Murdock, the Daredevil, barked at the terrified maid, who finally snapped out of her daze and ran for her life.

"Daredevil, huh? Perfect! I've been itching to get rid of you for a long time. Today, you can die with me!"

Matt chuckled coldly, "Kingpin, I knew you'd resort to desperate measures, which is why I came. Looks like my timing is perfect!"

"Yeah, perfect for your death!" Kingpin retorted.

Just as Matt was about to mock Kingpin further, he felt a tremendous force through his staff. It almost flew out of his hands, but as he held on tightly, Kingpin lifted him off the ground and tossed him effortlessly.

"This... how is this possible?" Matt couldn't believe it. He had always thought Kingpin was just fat. How could he possess such immense strength?

With a loud crash, Daredevil was thrown against a wall, sending up a cloud of dust. From within the dust, Matt could be heard coughing violently. As the dust cleared, he used his staff to prop himself up. Although his enhanced abilities gave him decent recovery, the impact had taken its toll, and he silently swore never to experience that again.

He realized he had underestimated Kingpin and had to reevaluate him. Kingpin, seeing the confusion on Matt's face, sneered, "Daredevil, did you really think I couldn't deal with you? Let me make one thing clear: you're no threat to me."

"And by the way, this isn't fat—it's muscle!"

Kingpin flexed, and his muscles bulged, nearly ripping his clothes apart.

"Seems I was too careless. But strength alone doesn't win fights," Matt countered.

"Is that so? Then let's see how much you can handle."

Like a charging bull, Kingpin rushed at Daredevil with blinding speed. Matt's pupils shrank as he quickly dodged to the side, barely avoiding Kingpin's brutal charge.

"Not bad, Daredevil," Kingpin said with a sneer.

Matt steadied himself using his staff, his expression changing as he realized, "What kind of monster is this?"

From his vantage point, a sniper asked George for orders, "Chief, should I take the shot and kill Kingpin? Daredevil's fighting him right now."

"Wait for the right moment. If you get a clear shot at Kingpin, take it. Just be careful not to hit Daredevil."

"Got it, chief!"

Inside the mansion, Kingpin and Daredevil continued to fight, sending dust and debris flying everywhere. The sniper cursed under his breath, "Damn! I can't find an opening like this!"

Through his scope, all the sniper could see was Daredevil constantly dodging. It was clear he was outmatched and couldn't hold his own against Kingpin.

"What's the matter, Daredevil? All you can do is run? Where's that confidence you had earlier?" Kingpin taunted, each punch he threw leaving deep dents in the floor or walls, gradually cornering Matt.

Soon, Matt was backed into a corner with nowhere left to run.

"Come on, I won't be too cruel. I'll end your suffering with one punch," Kingpin declared, raising his massive fist and aiming it at Matt's face.

Just as Matt braced for the fatal blow, a familiar voice rang out, "Hey, big guy! Bullying someone just because you're strong? How about picking on me instead?"

"Spider-Woman?" Matt instantly recognized the familiar, sweet voice.

In front of him, Kingpin's fist never made contact. Kingpin looked at his hand, confused to find it restrained by a web.

Turning around, he saw Spider-Woman standing behind him.

"Well, well, both of you came today. Guess I'll bury you both together!"

"You want to interfere? Then I'll start with you!" Kingpin roared, spreading his arms wide as he lunged at Spider-Woman for a bear hug.

Gwen Stacy, the Spider-Woman, pushed off with her legs and executed a perfect backflip, easily dodging Kingpin's embrace.

"Sorry, big guy. I'm not into older men. Try that again, and I might get angry!" she teased, delivering a swift kick to Kingpin's chin.

The powerful kick sent Kingpin tumbling backward. Gwen, quick on her feet, grabbed his ankle and swung him in a wide arc before tossing him aside.

"Wow, he's heavier than he looks," Gwen said, dusting off her hands.
