Chapter 68 - Chapter 68: Pikachu Hatches, Kingpin’s Evil Deeds

Crack~~~~~~

In Alan's room, the Pokémon egg trembled slightly.

In the living room, Alan had just carefully placed the lollipop on the dining table, arranging it like a bouquet of flowers. Gwen had left in a hurry after receiving another emergency call right after she set the lollipop down.

"Spider-Woman sure has a busy day," Alan muttered to himself. Suddenly, he stood up from his chair.

"The Pokémon egg… it's about to hatch!"

The three-day incubation period had finally come to an end.

In the room, Alan crouched in front of the Pokémon egg. The surface of the egg was now covered in cracks.

Crack...

A small piece of the egg's surface suddenly popped off, creating a small opening. Soon after, a yellow pointed ear emerged from the opening, with a small tuft of black at its tip.

Seeing the distinctive ear, Alan's face lit up with joy. "Could it be…?"

Alan knew immediately what kind of Pokémon was about to hatch just by seeing the ear.

Crack!!!

"Pika… chu..."

With an adorable cry, the entire eggshell shattered, revealing a yellow, lightning-tailed mouse. On its cheeks were two red circles, like blush spots.

All the features, including its cry, clearly indicated its identity.

Pikachu, the Electric Mouse Pokémon. In the Pokémon world, Pikachu is the closest companion of the main character, Ash.

"Pika... pika…"

The moment Pikachu saw Alan, its ears perked up, and its eyes sparkled as it looked at him.

Alan couldn't help but feel a sense of warmth and affection. As he reached out his hand, Pikachu eagerly nuzzled into his palm, rubbing against it affectionately while letting out cheerful "Pika pika" sounds.

"Little guy, welcome to this world."

"Pika... pika..."

"What should I name you?"

Although Pikachu kept saying "Pika pika," Alan thought naming it Pikachu directly seemed a bit too simple.

Just as Alan was pondering what to name Pikachu, Gwen's voice suddenly came from behind him.

"Alan, what are you doing alone in the room?"

"I just got back and didn't see you…"

Halfway through her sentence, Gwen froze. Her eyes were glued to the Pikachu at Alan's feet.

Seeing Gwen return, Alan's heart sank. He hadn't figured out how to explain this little guy to her. Why did Gwen have to come back so suddenly?

"G-Gwen…"

Alan stood up and instinctively blocked Pikachu with his body. Pikachu, sensing a stranger, clung to Alan's pant leg, poking out half of its head, and looked at Gwen with timid eyes.

It nervously uttered, "Pika..."

"Gwen, this is…"

"Ah~ Alan... he's so cute…"

Alan hadn't even figured out how to explain Pikachu's presence—after all, this little creature didn't belong to this world. But Gwen didn't seem to care about such things. Instead, she was completely charmed by Pikachu's adorable appearance.

Gwen crouched down beside Alan and waved at Pikachu, "Hi there, I'm Gwen. What's your name?"

It was as if Pikachu's existence was the most natural thing in the world to her.

"Pika... pika…"

Pikachu extended its little hand toward Gwen. Out of curiosity, Gwen reached out a finger, and their hands touched.

"Pika... chu..."

"Alan, look, he likes me!"

Alan watched Gwen's delighted expression and glanced at Pikachu, who was slowly warming up to her. He instantly understood that, in a girl's eyes, many creatures only fall into two categories—cute and not cute.

Pikachu was both adorable and cute.

In this case, cuteness is justice.

As for the rest, it didn't seem all that important.

Alan crouched down and patted Pikachu, "Yeah, you like her, so he likes you too."

Pikachu nuzzled against Alan's palm, no longer as timid as it had been when it first saw Gwen.

"Alan, what's his name? I've never seen him before," Gwen asked curiously.

"A friend of mine just sent him over. He's a new type of genetically engineered pet and doesn't have a name yet."

Alan made up a story about Pikachu's origins. After all, there was already a Lizard Doctor in this world, and there were all kinds of mutants.

A genetically modified yellow mouse?

That's totally reasonable, right?

"Can I give him a name?" Gwen looked at Alan with eager eyes, as if she might burst into tears if he said no.

"Of course you can. He'll be living with us from now on."

Gwen gazed at Pikachu, who had placed its tiny hands on its belly. It seemed to understand that Gwen was going to name it, and its small eyes looked at her, as if hoping she'd choose a really nice name.

"Pikachu..."

"Hmm~~" Gwen thought about Pikachu's earlier cry and its adorably innocent look. It really tugged at her heartstrings.

"How about I call you 'Pikachu' from now on?"

"Pika... pika..." Pikachu excitedly waved its hands upon hearing the name, seemingly very happy with it.

"Haha, Alan, look... he likes the new name I gave him."

Watching the interaction between Gwen and the Pokémon, Alan smiled. He was thoroughly enjoying this warm and cozy life. Who said transmigrators with golden fingers had to go around killing and conquering the world? That would be exhausting.

Having a cute girl to flirt with and an adorable pet?

Now, that's a comfortable life.

While Gwen and Pikachu continued playing, Alan stood up. "I'll go make dinner. You two wait here."

"Pikachu, let's go. We'll wait outside while Alan cooks."

"Pika!" Pikachu ran ahead of Gwen, following Alan. With a quick leap, it jumped onto Alan's shoulder and lay down.

Gwen watched Pikachu lying on Alan's shoulder with a hint of envy. It was hard to tell if she was more envious of Alan or Pikachu.

Alan reached out and gently rubbed Pikachu's little nose. "What's wrong, tired?"

"Pika..."

After all, it had just hatched and hadn't yet replenished its energy.

"Okay, take a nap on my shoulder. I'll cook something, and we can eat together later."

As he spoke, Pikachu started to doze off on Alan's shoulder. Worried that Pikachu might fall off when he moved, Alan carefully lifted it off and prepared to place it on his head.

Just then, Gwen's soft voice came from behind, "Alan..."

Her voice was so quiet, afraid of waking Pikachu.

Alan looked at Gwen curiously, only to see her pointing at herself and making a cradle gesture.

He immediately understood—Gwen wanted to hold Pikachu and let it sleep peacefully.

Alright.

Alan gently placed Pikachu into Gwen's arms. As he did, Pikachu's little feet twitched slightly, looking incredibly cute.

After setting Pikachu down, Alan said, "Okay, I'll go make dinner now."

"Shh..." Gwen put a finger to her lips, signaling Alan to be quiet.

As he watched Gwen walk toward the sofa, Alan shrugged helplessly. So love does get transferred, huh?

By the sofa, Gwen cradled Pikachu like a mother, looking at it with a face full of affection.

After a while, the smell of Alan's cooking wafted through the air. At first, it was faint, but it gradually grew stronger.

Lying in Gwen's arms, Pikachu's little black nose began to twitch slightly, then suddenly, it sprang up, wide awake and full of energy.

Gwen couldn't help but laugh softly at the sight. "So you're a little foodie too, huh? Waking up just from the smell of food?"

"Let's go see if Alan's done cooking."

Pikachu quickly jumped out of Gwen's arms and ran toward the kitchen.

The dining table was already filled with several dishes, but Pikachu ran straight into the kitchen and leaped onto Alan's shoulder, staring eagerly at the dish he was preparing.

"Pika... chu..."

"You're awake? I wasn't sure what you'd like, so I made some snacks for you."

In the pot, Alan was making small treats from a mix of biscuits and chocolate. From what he remembered, Ash's Pikachu had quite a fondness for snacks.

Soon, Alan filled a small plate with the treats.

Perched on Alan's shoulder, Pikachu was drooling a little from the corner of its mouth. But without Alan's permission, it didn't dare move. Its expression was so adorably silly.

Alan placed the snacks on the dining table. "Alright, you can eat now, but be careful—it's hot."

The chocolate had just melted, and to keep the biscuits crisp, Alan had even reheated them in the oven before mixing them with the chocolate, creating biscuits coated in a layer of chocolate.

Pikachu grabbed a small biscuit with its tiny hands, but it was so hot that it had to juggle it between its hands, looking completely comical.

Alan and Gwen couldn't help but laugh at the sight.

After a while, the biscuit finally cooled down, and Pikachu popped it into its mouth. The moment it tasted the chocolate biscuit, Pikachu's little hands went to its cheeks, its eyes practically turning into stars. "Pika…"

That satisfied smile was all the proof Alan needed that his chocolate biscuits were delicious.

As Gwen continued eating her meal, she couldn't help but wonder—was it really that tasty?

Taking advantage of Pikachu being distracted, Gwen's hand sneaked towards Pikachu's bowl.

But Pikachu, busy eating its chocolate biscuits, quickly noticed Gwen's sneaky hand. It immediately grabbed its plate and, as if declaring its ownership, said, "Pika! Chu!"

It was as if Pikachu was saying, "This is mine, you can't have any!"

Gwen quickly pleaded, "Pikachu, can I have just one? Just one!"

Pikachu shook its little head, emphasizing each word, "Pika! Chu!"

Gwen pouted, "Fine, don't give me any, you stingy little thing."

Alan, watching the two troublemakers, couldn't help but smile, though he didn't even realize it himself.

Since Pikachu wouldn't share, Gwen turned her big, pleading eyes towards Alan, "Alan, I want to eat some chocolate biscuits too."

Feeling a bit helpless, Alan set down his bowl and chopsticks. "Alright, there's still a bit left. I'll make some for you."

Gwen immediately beamed like a victorious child. "Yay!"

While Alan was in the kitchen making the chocolate biscuits, Gwen snuck in and gave him a quick kiss on the cheek. "This is your reward!"

Then she returned to the table and shot a smug look at Pikachu. "Hmph! If you won't share, Alan will just make some for me."

"Pika! Pika!" Pikachu, imitating her, turned its head away in a huff.

...

In New York City.

Inside a law firm, a lawyer wearing sunglasses was meeting with a client. However, the client was clearly unhappy with the lawyer in front of him.

"What's the meaning of this? You send a blind man to be my lawyer?"

"Sir, while Attorney Matt is indeed blind, it doesn't stop him from fighting for your legal rights in court."

"Moreover, Attorney Matt is the only lawyer in our firm willing to take on your case."

"Let's not forget, your opponent in this lawsuit is the notorious Wilson Grant Fisk," a woman in uniform, adjusting her glasses, explained.

Upon hearing the name Kingpin, the client's expression shifted several times.

Indeed.

Almost every law firm in New York turned him away as soon as they heard the opponent was Kingpin.

Only this blind lawyer in front of him had dared to take the case.

But... could a blind man really win this lawsuit for him?

Matt, the lawyer with sunglasses, smiled and said, "Sir, no one else is willing to take your case."

"Why not tell me about it? Maybe I can offer some legal assistance."

"Even though I'm blind, you can trust my professional knowledge."

The client finally calmed down and, after taking a sip of water, began to speak. "About three months ago, I started a company specializing in car rentals."

"At first, everything was going well, moving in a positive direction."

"But one day, Fisk's men barged into my company, accusing us of stealing their cars and demanding that we return them."

"Later, I found out that a few cars, originally under my company's name, had somehow been transferred to Fisk's ownership."

"They then used this as grounds to sue me, demanding compensation. If I can't pay, they want my company as collateral."

Matt frowned under his sunglasses.

This wasn't the first time Fisk had used such tactics. In fact, he often targeted slightly successful companies in New York without strong backing, fabricating charges against them to swallow them up.

Many people eventually succumbed to Fisk's power.

Seeing the blind lawyer fall silent, the client stood up, disappointed. "I knew it, there's nothing anyone can do."

"This world is devoid of justice."

"No, sir. I'll take your case. Nothing excites me more than taking on Fisk in court."

"But it's up to you whether you believe in me..."

...

P.S.: After much thought, I decided to go with Pikachu. One, because he's so adorably dumb, and two, because there's a lot of fan-created content about him.
