Peter reached into his backpack, his hands covered in the purple serum. But in the next moment, he pulled out two intact vials of the anti-gene serum.
Gwen, seeing this, happily asked, "How did you know some of them weren't broken?"
"There wasn't enough leakage," Peter explained. "There were four vials of the anti-gene serum in total. If they had all shattered, there would have been much more liquid. So I guessed that some were still intact."
Gwen couldn't help but compliment him, "You're a genius."
Peter glanced at Gwen with a smile, "Thanks."
George, however, brought them back to reality. "I hate to interrupt your little mutual admiration, but the situation here doesn't seem very favorable for us."
Gwen frowned as she looked at the six Lizard creatures slowly advancing toward them. Stalling them wasn't the issue.
The problem was the nearby waterway—if they realized they couldn't win and jumped into the water to escape, it would be much harder to track them down later.
What would Alan do if he were here? she wondered.
At that moment, Alan, who had already arrived in Queens, had been keeping an eye on the developments in the sewers. When Red Queen reported that Connors had tricked them, obtained the gene serum, and used the atomizer to infect five police officers, Alan knew it was time for him to step in.
"Ugh, I really don't want to go to that filthy, stinky place, but I guess there's no choice," Alan muttered to himself. "Tonight, Gwen, you're going to owe me big time."
In a flash, Alan's figure vanished from where he stood.
Meanwhile, back in the sewers, George weighed the situation and made a decision: "We have no choice. Save as many as we can."
"Spider-Woman, we'll hold them off. You find a way to get that atomizer."
"Peter, get the anti-gene serum ready."
George quickly assigned tasks, keeping everything orderly. Gwen, realizing this wasn't the time to argue with George, followed his lead.
George and his men stepped forward, firing their shotguns and flamethrowers. Two of the Lizard creatures pushed ahead, using their bodies as shields to protect Connors as he advanced.
The two Lizard creatures at the back leaped into the water, causing a huge splash as they lunged toward George's group.
Gwen sprang into the air and kicked the two Lizards to the opposite bank. Connors, surrounded by the other Lizard creatures, gave his order:
"The others don't matter. Just kill Peter. Once he's gone, no one will be able to create that serum to destroy our species."
With two Lizard creatures acting as meat shields, Connors, believing the distance was sufficient, suddenly leaped forward, pouncing toward the police officers.
Gwen swiftly kicked Connors away again. The Lizard Connors slowly got back to his feet, his eyes glinting coldly as he gazed at Peter, who was being protected by the others. He realized their target was the atomizer.
Now that the atomizer had stopped functioning and the gene serum had been fully released, Connors walked over to the atomizer. He lifted his foot, sneering at George and the others.
"I can always make another one," he taunted. "But for you all, once it's gone, it'll be total despair, won't it?"
"No!" Gwen, clinging to the wall, shot her web toward the atomizer just as Connors was about to bring his foot down.
Suddenly, the entire sewer froze in place. The splashing water hung suspended in mid-air.
Alan, clad in his Emperor Armor, slowly emerged from behind the Lizard Connors. As he reached Connors' side, he casually picked up the atomizer from the ground and began walking toward Peter.
Alan paused as he passed by Gwen, carefully observing her Spider suit.
"Red Queen, the new Spider suit's mask needs a filtration function, and the web shooters should have faster firing speed."
"Understood, Master."
After another moment of thought, Alan added, "Also, install a small scanning drone, make it look like a little spider."
"It'll serve as the logo."
"For now, that's all."
"Integrate everything into the 'Spider Suit' project."
Alan walked over to Peter, placing the atomizer he held in front of him.
Snap!
With a snap of his fingers, time resumed its flow.
The Lizard Connors slammed his foot down, but Gwen's web hadn't yet reached him. Just as Gwen was about to blame herself for failing to grab the atomizer in time, she noticed that… there was nothing beneath Connors' foot?
Connors also sensed that something was wrong beneath him. Just as he was about to check, his yellow reptilian eyes suddenly contracted.
In the crowd opposite him, he saw someone—a person he dreaded encountering the most. The one who had left him with permanent psychological scars.
Emperor!
When did he show up? Where had he been hiding?
Gwen and the others also noticed the uninvited guest in their midst at this moment.
"Who are you?" George was the first to react, raising his shotgun and pointing it at Alan.
At this moment, all George could feel was a cold chill down his spine. Such a large figure—he hesitated to call it a person—had appeared among them, yet no one had noticed.
If this individual had attacked them earlier, wouldn't they all be dead by now?
Alan's appearance had shattered the last bit of psychological composure Lizard Connors had.
At first, he had been confident that the six of them could kill Peter, Spider-Woman, and everyone else. They could wipe them out.
But everything changed the moment Alan appeared. He still vividly remembered that night when he was utterly destroyed by a single punch.
Escape. I must escape now!
He had to make the other Lizard creatures stall the Emperor so that he could get away!
In his primal instinct for survival, all thoughts of the lizard species and their grand plans faded away like a puff of smoke.
Seeing George on high alert, Alan smiled faintly. "Relax, I'm on your side."
"I've already secured the atomizer for you."
Following Alan's gesture, everyone noticed the atomizer in Peter's hands. Even Peter himself was stunned.
When did this thing end up with me?
But it no longer mattered. Peter immediately began working on it.
George also realized this mysterious figure was here to help them. He quickly instructed his team, "Hold them off with everything you've got. Peter's almost ready!"
Alan patted George on the shoulder. "Don't waste your bullets. Leave this to me."
Under the shocked gazes of everyone, Alan raised his right hand.
"Aurora Sword!"
From the air, an orange-gold energy shield appeared, and Alan drew a massive golden sword from it.
George glanced at Spider-Woman, perplexed. "Is this guy your friend?"
Gwen shook her head, indicating she didn't know him either. But…
He's so cool!
"Everyone, stop him quickly!"
The Lizard Connors was completely panicked now. All his previous composure had vanished without a trace.
The remaining five Lizard creatures, unaware of Connors' intense fear, merely followed his orders and pounced toward Alan.
