Chapter 112 - Chapter 112: The Green Goblin, Osborn

Watching Norman casually toss his henchman's body aside like garbage, Jack understood immediately—the side effects of Norman's enhancement serum were even stronger than that of the escaped modified human. Norman's second personality had now completely detached from any semblance of humanity.

Norman wiped the blood off his glider without a care, while Jack's remaining men stood frozen in shock. Though they had witnessed killings in the underworld while following Jack, nothing had ever terrified them like this.

"Boss... what do we do now?" the last surviving henchman gulped in fear, his voice trembling. At this moment, his only source of mental support was Jack beside him.

Jack knew that the odds of surviving in front of this madman were almost zero. Unless…

He glanced at his subordinate and spoke calmly, "Do you trust me?"

The henchman looked at Jack, unable to think of any other response, and nodded vigorously. "Of course, I trust you, boss."

"No matter what happens, you're the one I trust most! Even if you told me to die, I'd still believe in you!" The terror of the situation had loosened his tongue, and he truly believed Jack would lead them out of this nightmare.

Hearing his subordinate's words, Jack smiled faintly. "Then go die."

Before the henchman could react, Jack swiftly pulled out the dagger he always carried and stabbed him multiple times in the stomach.

The henchman clutched his abdomen, staring at the blood on his hands, and struggled to ask, "Boss... why...?"

Before Jack could answer, Norman's mocking laughter echoed through the room. "Brilliant! Truly brilliant!"

"Jack, you outdo me. You kill far more spectacularly than I do."

Jack sheathed his knife and looked at Norman. "Norman, I just gave you a great show. Can you let me go now?"

In front of someone as insane as Norman, Jack could only think of one way to survive—by making this madman feel entertained. The only option was to personally kill his own subordinate.

Norman chuckled. "Of course, we've been partners from the start."

"I never restricted your freedom. You can leave anytime."

Norman gave a theatrical bow, and the laboratory door slowly creaked open.

Seeing the door open, Jack felt like he was seeing the light of hope. Containing his excitement, he calmly walked towards the exit. Though he didn't turn back, he remained cautious of any tricks from Norman behind him.

Norman watched Jack's back as his glider hovered quietly beside him. "Shh… don't make any noise. I said I'd let him go." He made a hushing gesture toward the glider as if it had spoken.

Following Norman's words, the glider slowly descended to the ground.

As Jack drew closer to the door, he knew he had made the right bet. Acting as crazy as Osborn was indeed the way to survive.

Just one step away from the door, Jack was about to cross the threshold when he heard a sudden swoosh from behind. In the next moment, two sharp blades pierced through his chest.

Jack's final step never landed, as the blades of the glider pulled him back. Norman, looking regretful, walked over to his glider. "You naughty little thing, didn't you say you'd let him go?"

Lying on the ground, Jack's mouth filled with blood, and he stared at Norman in horror, barely managing to utter two words: "De... demon..."

"Demon..." Jack repeated faintly as his final whisper.

Norman, hearing Jack's dying words, nodded in apparent agreement. He then pulled out a grotesque green mask and put it on. "Demon... I like this new name!"

"Ha ha ha..." Laughing wildly, Norman jumped onto his glider and flew out of the door.

As Jack watched Norman leave, he finally realized the door was never meant for him. But by the time he understood, it was too late. His arm fell limp, and as life slowly drained from him, he watched the laboratory doors close once more, plunging the room back into darkness.

High above the ground, Norman flew rapidly toward the New York Police Department on his glider. A pouch hung from his waist, filled with small balls resembling pumpkins. He picked up one of them, playing with it idly while muttering to himself, "How should I make a cool entrance later?"

"Hello, everyone, I'm the Demon?" He shook his head at the thought of shouting this line when he arrived at the NYPD. It didn't seem grand enough.

As he pondered it, his glider slowed down. To him, it seemed like arriving without a perfect catchphrase would be incomplete.

After a while of thinking, Norman suddenly noticed the color of his exoskeleton.

"Green... Goblin..." His eyes under the mask lit up, and he suddenly spread his arms wide, laughing maniacally into the dark sky.

Outside the New York Police Department, George was escorting Anna out.

"Anna, you've done great. This is the first time I've seen hypnosis solve a case like that," George praised.

Anna smiled. "Uncle George, it's just a small trick."

"It works well enough on weaker-minded criminals, but if they're more prepared, it can backfire. In those cases, we'd have to rely on your experience and skills to crack the case."

George knew Anna was being modest, but her compliment did go straight to his heart. "By the way, when you went to Alan's place today, was Gwen there too?"

Anna nodded, and George's face immediately darkened. His beloved daughter, as expected, was spending all her time at Alan's house. He swore to have a serious talk with Alan when he had the chance!

Just as Anna was about to share her thoughts on Alan, she noticed something in the distance approaching rapidly. Her brow furrowed as she pointed toward the sky. "Uncle George, look, what's that?"

George followed Anna's finger and saw a large object getting closer. "A drone?" he muttered instinctively.

But it didn't seem like a drone—it was too big.

As the object drew nearer, both Anna and George's expressions changed, for they could now clearly see that it looked like...

A person!

The moment they confirmed it was indeed a person, a sharp, maniacal laugh echoed from above.

"Ha ha ha... Greetings, good citizens of New York!"

Norman's glider hovered above the police department as he gave George and Anna a gentlemanly bow. "Allow me to introduce myself... I am the Green Goblin."
