"I'm sorry, Sia. I have to go. My world calls me," I whispered, pressing a soft kiss to her forehead. She lay there, curled up in her bed, hugging that pink teddy bear I gave her. So peaceful. So innocent.
I took a breath, my chest tightening. I hated leaving her like this, but there was no other way. The portal behind me flickered, and I stepped through casting one last glance at her.
Then I heard it.
A scream. A blood-chilling, soul-wrenching scream that shattered the silence.
Her voice.
My heart slammed against my ribs. The portal around me dissolved in an instant, I woke up and I blinked into a drak, unfamiliar room. My head was spinning, but that scream... Sia.
Two guards stood nearby, laughing. I was low, filthy. The kind of laugh that crawled under you skin and stayed there.
"What do you think Master's children will look like?" one sneered.
