The room felt like it was collapsing around me, the air thinning, my vision flickering in and out. Suddenly, the curtains flew open with a force so strong it sent a chill down my spine.
My eyes, blurred with tears, could just make out a tall, dark figure standing at the far end of the room, a looming shadow against the light.
Is it... him? Kairan... Right?
Before I could even fully grasp it, the figure moved with such speed it felt unreal. In an instant, Kairan was beside me. His presence cut through the suffocating fear like a blade, and with one swift motion, he shoved Ancillin off me, sending him staggering backward.
"Nice efforts to stop me from barging in, little brother." Kairan's voice, cold and commanding, echoed in the room, grounding me.
My gaze lifted weakly to meet the ceiling, but I didn't need to see him to know.
Kairan. He's here.
