I sighed, rubbing my face in pure exasperation. "Okay, what is it you want to talk about?"
Kairan's eyes stayed fixed on me, not wavering for even a second. "Look me in the eyes first. I don't like talking while you're looking down there. I don't know why."
Oh, really? You're asking why? It's because if I look into those ridiculously intense eyes, I'm going to spontaneously combust. That's why.
"Meredia," Kairan's voice had that no-nonsense edge to it, the one that told me I wasn't getting out of this. "Look at me."
I hesitated, trying to find an escape. My brilliant idea? Channel a little bit of drama, crocodile tears-anything to get him to back off. Slowly, I lifted my gaze, but not before preparing myself for some theatrics.
"Oh my God, Your Highness!" I gasped, placing a dramatic hand on my forehead and clutching my chest for effect. "I think I'm going to faint. It's just... it's too bright out here."
