I must say, aside from the pile of rotten odor that is in the area, this post-apocalyptic world does have its charm own, Natasha, Scarlett and Selene were able to take a sufficient rest, and rehydrate themselves, and take a breather, like me. Roughly an hour after our initial wait, Alfred finally contacted me. His voice came through the loudspeaker of my phone, calm and precise as always.
"Sir, the cleanup process of the hospital is complete now…All three floors are now safe and free from any threats. You may come in now."
"Roger that, Alfred coming in now…" I nodded, turning off the phone.
"You heard the man, Let go ladies…" I said, addressing the group.
There was an immediate sense of relief washing over us. Knowing that Alfred had cleared the area meant we wouldn't have to deal with any surprise attacks, at least for now. all of us would prefer to stay out of combat if we could, anyone would.
With that, I collected all the loot we had gathered outside and carefully stored it in my Inventory space. It was always satisfying to watch items vanish into thin air, tucked away safely in a place no one could steal from. Meanwhile, Selene and Natasha wasted no time, already making their way toward the entrance. Both of them felt more comfortable walking their way there, since it was that close anyway.
Scarlett, ever the reliable driver, hopped into the truck and maneuvered it right up to the hospital's entrance, positioning it strategically.
As she stepped out of the truck, she flashed me a knowing smile. "I parked it this way on purpose. If we need to make a quick escape, we can just jump in and drive off—no hassle, no delays."
I grinned, impressed as always by her tactical mindset. "Smart thinking."
At time like this, it really shows just how good she was in this sort of things, she would think one step ahead in all situation, ensuring that there will be no complication that cannot be dealt with. With everything set, we finally stepped inside CLUB MED hospital. The moment we entered, the stench hit us—thick, rancid, and overwhelming.
The decay was suffocating, a mix of rotting flesh and mildew from the abandoned structure. The place was a wreck, with broken furniture, cracked walls, and debris strewn about. The signs of decay were everywhere, a testament to how long this building had served as a zombie nest.
"It smells rancid a heck," I commented, can't really stayed silent with all this sensation that assaulted me.
"A few more times going into a place like this, Babe…you'll get used to it…" Scarlett said to me with a smile.
Despite the destruction, not everything was ruined. Some hospital rooms remained relatively intact, their doors still standing, their interiors untouched save for dust and age. Certain pieces of furniture, though old, were still in decent condition. It was a fifty-fifty situation—some areas had been completely destroyed, while others had been left mostly untouched.
Selene ran her fingers along a nearby counter, inspecting the layer of dust. "Surprisingly, some of this stuff is salvageable. If we take the time to clean it up, it could be useful…"
Natasha nodded, glancing around. "Yeah, and with a bit of effort, we might even be able to repurpose some of it. Good furniture is hard to come by these days...besides, if we don't want to use them…we can just sell them in the market…people would want to pick this stuff up,"
We continued forward, heading toward the middle of the ground floor. As we walked, we noticed that the hospital had been designed with an open layout—the central part of the building was hollowed out, creating a vast open space that gave the structure an airy, grand feel. Even in its current state of decay, CLUB MED still retained a sense of its former luxury.
Scarlett let out a low whistle as she scanned the area. "Fancy place. Must've been top-tier back in the day. Probably catered to only the elite."
I nodded, taking it all in. "Yeah. Definitely not your average run-down clinic. The people who got treated here were the type that could afford the best."
Layla, who had rejoined us, tilted her head as she observed the architecture. "This layout suggests high-end design. Expensive and exclusive. Most hospitals aren't built with aesthetics in mind, but this one clearly was."
I smirked. "Well, lucky for us, exclusive usually means valuable things left behind. And I'm willing to bet there's more than just medical supplies in here."
Above us, from the second floor, Layla's voice rang out in a lighthearted tone. "Ah, Master, Madams, welcome to CLUB MED hospital. I hope you enjoy your stay."
I looked up to see her casually tossing zombie corpses over the railing, letting them drop into the growing pile below. It was a bit unsettling, but necessary. The last thing we needed was rotting bodies contaminating the halls while we were scavenging.
Alfred's voice followed from the third floor. "There weren't many stragglers left—roughly twenty across all three floors. Most of them were bedridden patients, unable to move. They have all been dealt with, Sir."
"Good work," I called back. "Any sign of the Doc and Nurse-bots?"
"Yes, Sir. I've located several of them. I'll bring them down now."
Turning to my wives, I gestured toward the hospital's interior. "Alright, ladies. If you want to explore, now's your chance. Grab anything useful or valuable and bring it back here. With my Inventory ability, we can take everything we want, no need to worry about space."
Selene grinned, taking immediate charge. "Alright, darling. Scarlett, focus on medical supplies—medicines, tools, machinery, and instruments. Prioritize the ones in good condition and those that are only slightly damaged. Natasha, grab any valuables—cash, gold, silver, anything Azra can convert into money. I'll handle anything tech-related. If anything's too heavy, we'll call our darling here to help."
Natasha and Scarlett nodded in agreement before splitting up to begin their respective searches. They knew the drill, and they were good at it.
Selene turned to me with a playful smile. "Darling, just stay here. We'll handle the rest."
I chuckled, watching her take charge with such confidence. "Alright," I replied, leaning against a nearby counter. Not gonna lie, Selene in full leader mode was incredibly attractive.
As they disappeared into the various halls of CLUB MED, I took a deep breath. The mission was going smoothly, and with each passing moment, we were turning this once-dangerous ruin into yet another successful haul. There was no doubt that by the time we were done, we'd have more than we expected.
