It Is sufficed to say that our weekend wasn't that much different from before, sure we do have more people here in the base than before, but to me life continues on as normal, Selene and Scarlett were getting used to the new lifestyle in our base and family. Both of them had to transition well, their lives just turned from a life full of hard times, and now seemingly lives become 10 times better for them, ample food and waters for them to dine as they pleased, a good place and soft bed to sleep peacefully. Simply said, according to them they were living a good life that many in this world could only described and a dream like lifestyle.
As for me, I too keep myself busy as well, on Saturday I went out to hunt and came back home with the ample harvest as always, Natasha, Scarlett and Selene helped with butchering all the hunted game that I brought back. Also, my initial assumption on why this world got some nasty meat produce has been proven true, turns out that the so-called butchers in this world has been incorrectly butchering their meat. They did not bleed their game, and then just haphazardly gutting their game, which make sense why their meat was just so bad.
Scarlett has been so confidently butchering the meat as to the norm of this world, stating that this is how the usual method is, I stood to the side and just watched it all happened. Scarlett said, she used to work in a Butcher shop and then learned the job there, needless to say what she learned there were nothing but rubbish. Natasha steps in and correct her, and then teach the both of them, the correct way to butcher meat and handle everything correctly, Scarlett and Selene weren't offended or get angry when they were told they were wrong, and instead accepted the free lesson, which Is a relief, normally people in this world are a bit proud in their own ways, thankfully the 2 didn't.
"How's the produce growing so far, Alfred?".
Standing inside the greenhouse, I can see Alfred and Layla were working hard in nurturing the growing produce, it has been roughly 5 days since we got the greenhouse working and all the planter bed filled with all sort of produce.
"Everything is growing marvelously, Sir …. These advance planter beds are working as it should and as intended…".
Alfred said to me as he continues to water each planter bed with care. While at the same time, Layla going around each plants pruning them carefully.
"All thank to Layla… with her thumbs, we were able to even take more good care of all of our produce…".
I can sense how Alfred really wanted a new body, with a hand that has thumb on it.
"Oh, Mr. Alfred is so kind, Master… I am just doing as much as I can and should… to me, tending to this plant is a therapeutic session to… also I am learning a lot of new skill from, Mr. Alfred as well…".
On Layla side, I supposed being used as a mule and a pleasure bot for all her existence, and now doing something else other that what he used to be doing, do help her a lot in improving her quality of life, is supposed.
"I'm glad that this new duty does help with your rehabilitation, Layla...".
"Thank you, Master…. It does help refresh my mentality and outlook for our bright future of the entire family…".
Layla nodded and bow slightly to me, and then went back to her pruning session.
"These chilies and tomatoes were the first to near fruit, Sir…".
Alfred brought my attention to the 2 small trees, the tomato and chilies, both of them already bear their fruits, still green of course.
"Alfred, aren't these…. A little bit too big?".
I am looking at the tomatoes and the Chilies, both of them were not at all an average size that I were used to. The Tomatoes, while still green, are already at the size of my fist, and the chilies, were already 2 inches thick and 4 inches long.
"That chili, it is a bird eye chili, right?".
"Yes, it is, Sir… it is a bird eye chili…. The reason that it got that big…I because, it has mutated…".
Alfred casually stated.
"Mutated? …then…Is it safe?".
"100% safe, sir…. All of our planted produce here… all of them has been safely mutated…and all of them were radiation free, safe to be consume as well…".
"Honey, what is going on? Owh~… the plants have started bearing its fruit? that was fast...".
Alfred confidently stated, as I were getting an explanation from, Alfred, Natasha who come looking for me, entered the green house, along with Selene and Scarlett as well, our 2 newcomers naturally already acquainted with this place and know that this greenhouse well. After all, it was a place where food was grown, naturally they have a good interest on such place.
"Just ignore them, Alfred… continue…".
"Alright, Sir…Anyway…".
Alfred went at length to explained to me what the current situation was, with all the plants inside the greenhouse, he said that everything has mutated, naturally he had analyzed all of them and performed testing as well, all of the plants were safe, healthy and even better that their old self, all of these plants, now can be safely planted in the wild and it can thrive perfectly as well. Not to mention, the taste of each produce is now enhanced and become more tastier, and them the size of it become even bigger and the plant produce would be even more bountiful.
"…That is quite good, Alfred…. then how about the plant sustainability?".
"All of them have short growing time to come to mature and then bear their produce… as for their lifespan… they can last longer…to be more precise 2 times the lifespan of their old lifespan…".
Alfred said, now that Is what I called a good kind of mutations. Needless to say, this news brought a smile to my face.
"I supposed with that…. We can solve the mystery of our resource comes from, then…".
Natasha said with a smile, which she I correct, with these mutated plants we can now solve the mystery of our fresh produce origins.
"With these mutated plants, we can even plant them outside as well…that would increase our yield even more…".
Added Scarlett to the conversation.
"And it would also become an addition to the thing that we need to protect as well… these plants and what It can produce… Is something that every single person out there would want to get for themselves…. perhaps…it might even enough to move bigger forces out there…".
Selene said seriously, which she is right, these mutate plants, is quite a valuable golden goose for us. A mutated plants that can produce good food, safe to eat and can produce aplenty, people would die for this sort of things in these days and age.
"That's true…. I guess we need to buff our defense and fire power even more, now…right?".
"I don't see why not… More guns would help us a lot… though I do suggest we should move out far from here…. Being so close to 2 major cities… with the things that were have in our hands…it will be only a matter of time until they find out about what we have and then wanted to have it for themselves…".
Scarlett said it as it is, which I and Selene agreed immediately, at some point, even if we armed ourself with all sort of guns, we still short of able bodied to help us with defending ourselves properly, I supposed at the end of the day, the other option of moving to a new location is much more realistic.
