Chapter 145 - Chapter 141: A Villain Should Act Like One

"Is it true? That guy can actually turn into a Balrog?"

"Unbelievable. It's way more over the top than I imagined. I thought he was just pulling some minor tricks, but it turns out he's an actual demon."

Deadshot and Captain Boomerang had stopped fighting, their gazes fixed in shock at the Balrog in the middle of the bar.

Harley Quinn rested her bat on her shoulder and laughed, "Don't you guys think he looks kinda hot?"

Killer Croc walked over and muttered, "That man's in trouble now."

Colonel Rick Flag barked, "Aren't you all going to help him?"

Deadshot shrugged. "Boss, do you seriously think we'd make a difference?"

"You're giving us way too much credit."

At that moment, the Balrog threw a punch at Azu. It was a devastating blow, one that could crush a man into pulp. But that massive fist, nearly as large as Azu's head, was stopped dead in its tracks by a single finger.

Azu extended one finger, pressing it against the Balrog's fist, and just like that, the punch couldn't move an inch further.

"Impressive. Very fantastical. The transformation is definitely flashy."

"Unfortunately… it's nothing more than that."

Azu smirked. "You guys are no fun at all. Let me make things a bit more exciting."

With that, his figure flickered, and with a soft poof, he vanished from the bar.

"Where did he go?" Flag spun around frantically, then turned to the Enchantress as she emerged from a nearby mirror. "Can you track him?"

Harley blew a bubble with her gum and giggled, "Our magician has done his disappearing act again. He pulled the same trick when he escaped the cage earlier. Lucky me, I was in the audience that time. Any questions?"

Flag snarled, "Shut it, lady."

Harley stuck her tongue out at him playfully.

Flag pulled out his phone and dialed Amanda Waller.

"Waller, we've lost the target."

"I'm telling you, he has powers similar to the Enchantress."

"He just vanished right in front of us."

"Ma'am, are you listening?"

At that moment, a male voice came through the phone, laughing, "Oh, I'm listening loud and clear, Colonel."

Azu.

Flag inhaled sharply, then shouted, "That man's found Amanda!"

Pop.

Harley's bubblegum burst.

"Wow, that's impressive," she said, grinning.

Top Floor of the Ostrander Federal Building

In a secret command room, Amanda Waller backed away slowly, staring at the man who had appeared out of nowhere.

Azu smiled and waved to everyone in the room. "Hello, folks."

"Working overtime, huh?"

"Do you get paid extra for this?"

Amanda's voice was cold and commanding. "Do you have any idea where you are, sir?"

"I'm ordering you to leave immediately!"

Azu chuckled. "Listen, old lady, I'm not one of those criminals you can manipulate."

"Save your breath. I really hate being told what to do."

"Now, if you want to live, shut up."

He pulled out the phone he had taken from Waller and waved it in her face.

"Now, disable the bombs inside those poor bastards' bodies."

Amanda's tone was unyielding. "That's impossible."

"Really?" Azu's eyes gleamed. "Maybe you should think about your own life for a second."

Amanda didn't flinch. "You could kill me, sure. But I'm the only one who knows the codes to deactivate those bombs. If I die, the bombs will detonate."

"Wow, you're good." Azu shrugged. "Looks like I can't do anything to you… or maybe she can."

Azu's gaze shifted behind Amanda. Before she could turn, a grimy hand covered her vision.

The Enchantress.

Wreathed in black mist and glowing embers, the Enchantress had silently appeared, ready to snap Amanda's neck.

"Hold on, miss," Azu clapped his hand on the briefcase containing the Enchantress's heart.

She froze, then exhaled a stream of black mist that formed a message in the air: Let me kill this b*h.

"No."

"If you kill her, how will we have any fun?"

Azu patted the briefcase. "Here's the deal: I know you can pull information from her mind. Help me deactivate the bombs, and I'll give you your heart back."

Amanda screamed, "You can't do that!"

Azu and the Enchantress ignored her. After a moment's silence, dark tendrils extended from the mist and burrowed into Amanda's head. Moments later, the Enchantress glanced at the phone in Azu's hand.

The screen lit up with a password prompt, followed by a series of digits.

Seconds later, the bombs inside Harley and the others were deactivated.

"Here's your heart. Don't kill her," Azu said with a grin. "Break your promise, and I'll kill you."

He tossed the briefcase to the Enchantress, who vanished into a dark shadow, then reappeared to grab the case. She cast Amanda a lingering glance before disappearing again.

Azu laughed heartily. "Game on, Ms. Waller. If I were you, I'd start running."

"You wouldn't want those guys who hate your guts to catch up with you."

With that, Azu disappeared.

Back at the Bar

Deadshot grabbed a half-finished vodka and downed it. He glanced at Flag. "Boss, we can't take that guy."

"We're dead either way. Might as well make it quick."

Earlier, after confirming Azu was at the Federal Building, Flag had sent the Enchantress and Katana ahead, ordering Deadshot and the others to follow for backup.

But none of them wanted to listen. Even the once-mighty Balrog, now reverted to his original form, sat quietly in the corner, looking like a broken man.

Flag sighed. "If not you, who else can save Amanda? If she dies, do you think it'll end well for you?"

"Her life is tied to your bombs. If she's gone, you're all dead!"

Harley twirled her hips as she walked past him, laughing. "Then your boss must still be alive, 'cause we're not dead yet."

"Don't you think that calls for a toast?"

Flag raised his hand, bringing up the detonation interface on his tactical pad. "I'll count to three. If you don't move, I'll blow you all up!"

"I'm not wasting any more time with you!"

Killer Croc, lounging on the stage, muttered, "Then what're you waiting for?"

Deadshot picked up another glass. "Hold on. Let me finish this drink first."

Just then, a soft pop startled everyone. Deadshot's hand twitched, spilling his drink, and Harley burst into laughter.

"Looks like you're having fun."

Azu appeared beside Deadshot, surveying the bar with amusement.

Flag and the soldiers raised their rifles, aiming at Azu. The colonel shouted, "What happened to Amanda? Did you kill her?"

"Nope."

Azu held up Waller's phone and showed it to Harley and the others. "Guess what I got?"

"The old lady's phone."

He tapped the screen, pretending to check something, then smiled. "As you can see, your bombs are deactivated."

"Whoo!"

Harley cheered and ran up to Azu, planting a kiss on his cheek.

"Love ya, boss!"

Azu laughed, giving her a playful slap on her backside.

Instead of getting mad, Harley threw him a sultry wink.

Azu tossed the phone onto the ground and turned to the group. "Waller's in the Federal Building's top floor. If you hurry, you might catch her before she boards a helicopter."

"Have fun, ladies and gents."

With a grin, Azu backed away, vanishing once more.
