In the car, James Brown learned about the role he was now supposed to play—a wealthy scion with a hefty fortune, still unmarried. He had never wanted to take over the family business, instead loafing around in YODC City. But now that Lucy Campbell was starting her business here, he had no choice but to come over and help.
This provided a plausible reason for James Brown's presence in YODC City. Even if some of the heavy hitters in YODC City recognized Lucy Campbell and saw her together with James Brown, it would still make sense. Clearly, Lucy had thought everything through.
At this moment, however, James Brown gave Lucy Campbell a wry look and said, "Why do I feel like you've lured me into your pirate ship?"
Lucy Campbell giggled and responded, "Who else do I trust in YODC City if not you? If you don't help me, who will?"
"My heavens, if others knew that you, Lucy Campbell, could be so willful, I wonder how many hearts would be shattered."
