"What's wrong?" Although James hadn't heard what was said on the phone, he knew Emma Campbell must be in trouble, as twenty thousand dollars was obviously not enough.
Tears silently slid down Emma's cheeks; she seemed to lose all strength and slumped to the ground. James quickly reached out to support her and helped her sit down on the bed. Emma was like a walking corpse—wherever James positioned her, she stayed, her tears continuously flowing.
"What exactly happened? Tell me, maybe I can help," James patted Emma's shoulder, using a bit of force.
Emma's body trembled slightly, she turned her head to look at James, and then suddenly threw herself into his arms, tightly hugging his waist and crying loudly.
James didn't stop her, encircling her with his arms, one hand holding her waist, the other gently patting her shoulder.
