James Brown was truly at a loss for words. He had been out trying to woo women, and now it seemed like that was against the law. But from what he understood, it would actually be illegal only if the woman didn't agree, and he hadn't really done anything wrong yet.
"Wait, Officer Monaghan," he said. "I know her name is Sunny Nguyen. Look at her ID, and we're colleagues at the same company. I can find coworkers to testify to that."
Joan, however, didn't believe a word James was saying and scoffed, "It's entirely possible that you've seen her ID beforehand. Even if you know each other, she hasn't agreed to go with you, yet you're taking her. That's coercion, and as a police officer, I absolutely won't allow you to infringe on her."
James rolled his eyes and said, "Then can you please wake her up a bit and let her speak for herself?"
