Rain looked over at the vast army before him. His cold grey-blue eyes stared at the seemingly endless onslaught of people. Behind him stood no one, no one except maybe his pride. Rain didn't entertain the notion of talking or negotiating; this was war. As in war, people will die, and blood will be spilt. He gazed at the vast plains that were filling up with people and weapons of warfare.
Sigh. Rain let out a small sigh, wondering what had happened to lead to this point. As he pondered on meaningless questions, small droplets of rain started to pour down. Yet, that rain turned into a full-on hail.
"Maybe it was destiny, or maybe it was the hand born of the universe's hatred. Whatever it may have been, nothing changes. Nothing at all. May whoever might be judging me, whoever might be deciding, may they forgive me." Rain muttered softly, so soft that his voice was drowned out by the rain. He chuckled slightly at the irony of everything. With one last smile at the shred of morality, the shred of humanity that he kept locked away from himself, he took one last look as the cage shattered.
"I declare this battlefield my home! As my home, I shall defend it till my last breath! Vermin! Ready yourselves!" Rain declared as he suddenly vanished from his position overlooking the entire battlefield, appearing in the heart of the battlefield with his sword through the heart of a soldier.
"Let the blood flow like the endless river of Styx," Rain murmured as he skillfully pulled his sword out and stabbed at another soldier, dyeing the green grass crimson. With another swift movement, his sword was out of the soldier's body, and a slash had appeared on the neck of a nearby soldier.
"All men! Stand your ground! Battalion 9, fire the anti-matter ray!"
Rain didn't even need to process the words of one of the many commanders' orders. As he quickly moved through the battlefield to a safer location, the massive amounts of energy gathering above the planet's atmosphere were hard to miss.
"Ahahah! You damn devil, you can't escape this!! Aha!!! We understand! We know that killing you won't be easy! So! If it must be done, this planet shall be expended to become your final resting place! Ahah!"
"Damn crazy bastard! Don't you realize that you and everyone else on this planet will also perish!"
"SO WHAT!? IF OUR DEATHS CAN BE USED TO SECURE YOUR DEMISE, THEN IT SHALL BE DONE! May the Holy Mother grant me salvation…Fire!"
