Chapter 22 - 22

Two weeks had passed since councilman Anas abdication and murder, Catherine Graham had now taken her place in charge of Sol'.

Sol' was now changing for the better, gang activities had reduced because after their internal conflicts Daniel decided to employ most of them as security guards in his properties in Sol' giving them a source of income. Daniel had employed about fifty ex gang members to act as security for his farms , factories and offices.

Daniel had purchased almost all the real estate in Sol' and had facilitated their speedy development, repairing roads, streetlights and adding security cameras. Sol' ni longer looked like a slum rather it turned out to be the juiciest piece of real estate. Many businesses started opening up in the area and more people started moving out of the crowded city centers to move to the area thereby generating market for new businesses, reducing the unemployment rate and increasing the revenue generated from the district.

Catherine didn't even have to actually do anything except pressure the police to crack down on crime in the area but all other aspects of her campaign were already being met.

With the way Sol' was developing , it was already attracting attention of the media, the government and the people. Although Balerion real estate was developing Sol' to further make profit, it still changed people's lives for the better. For this reason alone everyone wanted to know who was behind Balerion.

Many people had their theories, some claimed that it was owned by foreign investors, some claimed that it was a subsidiary of Transcorp and so on and Daniel was planning to do everything possible to stay away from the public eye for as long as possible.

Daniel then turned his attention to KNEIF textiles which had just started to make little profits due to new management. The previous owners had almost run the business into the ground.

Although the textile company had started making profit, it was not up to the standard that he wanted. In fact after all business experiences, his profit was just a measly §200000 monthly. It was a great amount for some people but the level that Daniel was now , that amount meant nothing. He already had plans for an aggressive expansion but now he had make Rome very formidable.

The five pilots that Colonel Abrams sent had been getting familiar with the few drones. In fact they could maintain a top speed of one hundred kilometers per hour without losing control.

Daniel then thought what if these drones were not only used for surveillance but also for combat missions to support ground troops. So Daniel tasked the engineers to research ways to work on some drones to make then useful . But then you could always trust army engineers to create the most outrageous piece of equipment.

They fused two drones together and slapped on a machine pistol with a custom box magazine that held up to three hundred rounds. But the reality of the matter was different the was highly unstable when rounds were being fired, the speed and altitude reduced thereby reducing overall performance. But this prototype showed that the idea of a fighter drone was feasible.

In fact Daniel spent many hours working with the engineers and pilots on ways to improve the drone and they all came to the conclusion that for it to work they had to build the drone from scratch .

Daniel had to purchase several industrial 3D printers for the prefabrication of machine parts.

After another three days another prototype was produced. This one a four by two feet drone with infrared and night vision cameras. It also contained a submachine guns with a custom magazine of up to four hundred rounds and was chambered in regular 9mm rounds. It had quad propellers that produced a thrust of 3611 rpm each that is 14,444 rpm total capable of a max speed of one hundred and eighty kilometers per hour and a maximum altitude of 2000 feet . It also possessed a long range radio frequency that was viable for up to ranged of 5 km.

This drone although hastily made was really a work of art . Daniel imagined the levels they could reach if they had a dedicated team of researchers .

Daniel tasked the engineers with the production and testing of the new drones. The pilots were to use the new drones to to run drills in conjunction with the ground team operators to figure out ways which the drones could be used effectively.

At city hall:

Catherine was in a meeting with the mayor of Aines , other councilmen and several other government officials .

Nothing much was said except congratulating Catherine and going through bullet points like city development, unemployment, security, e.t.c.

After the meeting Catherine was asked to have a chat with the mayor and the councilmen.

The Mayor, Dominic was a clean looking man in his early forties, he looked like the kind of person that charms the voters with his trustworthy looks first before anything.

Catherine sat back down at the table knowing that this meeting was not just any regular chat. She was nervous to know what direction the meeting was going to take . She was the only outsider in that meeting room, apart from the fact that she is a woman, there was also the fact that she didn't belong to any political party. Then the Mayor spoke up " miss Catherine, I want to say congratulations on your new office and we hope to see the good work that you are going to do. But let me cut to the chase , we know that it was Balerion Acquisitions that solely funded your campaign. There is no law against companies funding campaigns, it's just that we don't know who owns Balerion and we're not comfortable when we don't know who owns such a huge company."

"So what are you asking me to do here Mr Mayor?" Catherine asked

" Nothing much just set up a meeting with the CEO of Balerion and please tell him or her not to insult us by sending a representative , we want to meet in person " The. Mayor replied.

Catherine went home thinking of what these people wanted from Daniel. She didn't know him that well but she had hope that he could handle anything that they threw at him.
