It has been a month since since Daniel has enrolled in command secondary school and he had made many observations.
One of those observations were on the issues of bullying. The school rule condemned bullying but students still found a way to bully regardless of the rules. For example when a student reports bullying to the school authority, the bully is either flogged or given manual labor (weeding grass , washing dishes in the dining, etc) but then when they return they and their classmates continue the bullying fourfold thus stamping out any resistance, this action alone was enough to make the students subservient.
There was also the unwritten rule of not snitching or ratting out other students. Those who were found guilty of snitching were ostracized by everyone who knew about the situation. Although it usually lasted for a little while, imagine how a child with no communication with the outside world would feel in the situation.
For the past month Daniel had been following a rule that a philosopher in his past life had said 'to avoid criticism say nothing, do nothing and be nothing '.
This meant that he was living in the background just observing , he answered questions with one words , even when he knew the answers of questions in class he decided to keep quiet and keep low.
Apart from observing Daniel had been doing several body weights exercises like push ups and pull ups. He also made it a point to wake up an hour before the wake up bell for these intensive workout and because of that his body has started to adjust and adapt becoming more defined
He also
The results of his observations was that students were always on the edge,in a society where there were too many rules many people would be wondering what it would feel like to break them.
An opportunity presented itself when the school organized a trip into the city for a sports event. Few students had been selected for the event and Daniel was one of the lucky ones.
During the game Daniel left the arena for a while to take a breath, the noise was getting him cranky. Outside he saw other students laughing and discussing amongst themselves then as if he was drawn to something he looked at a corner and saw some students smoking cigarettes and it then clicked why not give the people what they want. There was already demand why not create supply.
After looking around to make sure no one was watching him he slipped out and made his way to a corner store down the road.
When he got in he asked for the price of a pack cigarettes which was a cheap §10 which contained 20 sticks the carton containing ten packs was §90.
Daniel had received his monthly stipend of §5000 earlier in the week plus the extra §10000 that he had it all amounted to §15k so he had more than enough capital to start.
After checking the prices of the numerous items he wanted to purchase he came across a slight problem, it was how to move the goods. Daniel racked his brain for a while and then he got an idea.
He then rushed out and made his way back to the arena where he looked for the most awkward and vulnerable looking students and then asked about fifteen of them to step outside with him. He then led them to the corner store and then loaded their school bags to the brim with packs of cigarettes, candy, mints, chocolate bars, lighters ,safety matches , cold water instant noodles and three prepaid phones.
Everything he bought it cost about §8400 and plus the extra §100 each for the 15 juniors it came up to almost §10k.
He had already threatened the juniors not to reveal anything about the items they were carrying and after giving them his room number he just hoped that nobody would get caught.
It was about 10pm when the school buses dropped off the students at the hostel gate. Daniel was unlucky to be in the the last bus so he was one of the last ones to disembark. His heart had almost gave out in anticipation, dreading what would happen if any of the couriers were caught.
He didn't have to worry so much because by the time he had reached his room the couriers were already at the door waiting.
Not wasting any more time he opened the room and let them in . The room was crowded with more than fifteen people inside so he made sure to be quick and quiet with retrieving his goods .
After making sure that everything was complete he dismissed them. But before that he asked them to get information on the above average students from JS1-3. This was for another of his business plans.
When they left Daniel brought out an empty exercise book to use as a ledger. As an accountant he had always known the value of keeping a ledger.
He then listed out the items that he had procured:
20 cartons of cigarettes @ §1800(§90 per carton) a carton contains 10 packs and a pack contains 15 sticks.
5 boxes of chocolate bars, a box containing 6 chocolate bars @ §2500(§500 per box)
2 heavy bags of assorted candy @ §500
1 bag of mint @§600
And three prepaid cell phones @§3000 (§1000 each).
After he was done with inventory he moved all the goods under the bed , he made a mental note to make a better hidden spot for the contraband . He then proceeded to go to sleep, it was Tuesday the next day and it was going to be interesting. His plan working or not was all dependent on fate and luck and God willing he would have great luck.
After turning and tossing for a while Daniel then fell into a deep sleep already imagining many scenarios of what could happen tomorrow.
