Chapter 3 - Unique Skills

"Now, for your present," continued the man, gesturing towards the deck of cards, "Please draw the next card."

Artis hesitated for a moment before selecting a card from the deck. As he turned it over, he revealed what the card read.

The Tower!

"The Tower," the man announced solemnly, "This card signifies sudden upheaval, chaos, and revelation. In your present, you may be facing a significant disruption or crisis, one that has the potential to shatter existing structures and beliefs. It urges you to embrace change, even if it is accompanied by destruction, as it could pave the way for new opportunities and growth."

Artis felt a sudden headache as he absorbed the message of the Tower card. It hinted at challenges and obstacles in his current situation, urging him to adapt and evolve in the face of adversity.

Finally, the man motioned for Artis to draw the last card for his future. With a mixture of anticipation, Artis selected a card from the deck and turned it over.

The Hanged Man!

"The Hanged Man," the man declared, "This card symbolizes surrender, sacrifice, and a shift in perspective. In your future, you may encounter a period of suspension or stagnation, where you will be called upon to let go of old ways of thinking and adopt a more enlightened outlook. While this phase might seem challenging, it holds the promise of spiritual awakening and a deeper understanding of life's mysteries."

Artis listened attentively, as he absorbed the interpretation of The Hanged Man card.

"Sudden upheaval and chaos in the present, followed by surrender and a shift in perspective in the future," he mused silently to himself laughing self-depriciately.

"Is the divination legal? What kinds of trouble will I face?" Artis asked, curious for the answer.

The man chuckled and responded, "Oh Artis, it's all divination for me and what I interpreted what the Stars told me about your future. It's all up to you if you want to believe in the prediction or not. Oh, and secondly, the troubles could be anything. It could range from losing your room keys to a full-blown terrorist attack! I don't know."

"Uh-huh..." Artis replied skeptically as he heard the man as if he was insane, "Wait, how do you know my name? I never told you that!"

Instantly, the atmosphere around them changed. What was such a mysterious atmosphere inside the tent turned into a horrific and terrifying atmosphere in a matter of seconds making Artis flinch.

The man shook his monocle as he smiled, "My apologies. Sometimes, things like this usually occur. That's why no one particularly visits my stall. Well, I know your name thanks to my Unique skill [Divinator]"

The man continued, "This skill allows me to know the name of any person whom I divine for. Oh, it's only the name that I get to know."

"Uh-huh...I see." Artis replied skeptically.

The Unique Skills. A Personal skill that every single in this world develops at the age of 10. It is said that in the old world, people used to live without the use of Unique Skills, and in old stories, out of nowhere a boy developed a power to instantly teleport from one place to another.

During this time, people started discovering their own unique skills, and abilities that set them apart from others. Some were born with extraordinary strength, while others could control the elements or communicate with animals. As humanity adapted to this new reality, unique skills became an integral part of society.

Over time, the existence of unique skills became widely accepted, and they became an essential aspect of everyday life. People honed their skills, using them for various purposes ranging from mundane tasks to grand endeavors. Some became adventurers, using their abilities to protect others, while others used them for personal gain or mischief.

Various studies have been conducted on Unique Skills as to why people developed different Unique Skills and why every skill was different from someone's else. To this day the study is still going on.

Some skills were straightforward to control, while others were more complex and required years of training to master.

As society evolved, unique skills played a significant role in shaping its structure and dynamics. They influenced everything from politics and economics to culture and entertainment. Individuals with powerful or rare skills often held positions of influence and authority, while those with less impressive abilities found themselves marginalized or discriminated against.

'So his unique skill is called [Divinator], Interesting....maybe I can learn more about it!' thought Artis as he looked keenly at the man as his right blue pupil formed an orange layer over it.

"So, your skill is called [Divinator]? That's why you set up a divination stall. I see, I see." replied Artis, in an understanding tone.

The man looked down, his face showing an expression Artis couldn't decipher, "That's right. That was the only job I could get. Well, it does allow me to meet my basic needs and is one of the many Unique skills I've developed over the years. So I'm happy with what I get to do."

Artis nodded, in understanding, "I see, so basically, this skill of yours is the main skill you received that helps you to divine things. Does this also help you to divine particular objects that you want to look for, or does it only allow you to divine the future?" Artis asked, curious to know about this skill as his right eye was still showing a hollow orange circle over his blue pupil.

The man nodded, as he pressed his monocle, "That's correct. This skill allows me to know the location where any item is located while divining the future. The only downside for me is that I can't divine my own future."

'So that's the nerf this skill got...Yeah, it makes sense. Otherwise, I can use this skill to always learn which lottery ticket I should buy so it's a guarantee I can become rich...

I can't know my own future. Well, it makes sense and this skill has the potential to grow as well. Hmm... Perhaps this man has reached enough understanding of his skill and that's the level he reached as of now. Because this skill still has enough potential to grow. Well, it's upto him if he wants to develop it further, it's not my place to interfere if he wants to develop it more or not...'

Artis thought and analyzed the answers the man replied making his own theory as to how his skill worked. Satisfied by the answers, he stood up indicating that he was leaving as his right pupil returned to normal.

"Wait a moment!" The man stopped Artis, "Take this!"

He threw an object that seemed like a seed at Artis. "This item would help you in the future. Don't ask me how but it will definitely help you in the future. Just wait for the right opportunity to eat it. But remember, you should eat it when your emotions are completely blank. Or else, you might go insane being unable to speak for a week straight."

Artis grabbed the seed, in confusion as he analyzed the seed and said in surprise, "This seed....It's from the Psychic Class, the Trenant Tree roots isn't it?"

The man nodded as his monocle shined, "That's right. The only reason I'm giving you this is so that you can be prepared for the divination the stars have shown you. Just take it as a final goodwill from me."

Artis stared at the man and then at the seed being skeptical as he stored the seed in the pouch he carries, 'I got no reason to trust this man, but it's a really rare item that can be sold at high prices. Yeah, the moment I land at Aurosia, I'm selling this seed for a few bucks!'

Artis bowed his head, expressing his gratitude, "Thank you! This would certainly be a great help for me."

The man stood still for a moment, his smile still etched on his face as he clicked his monocle again, "No need to thank me! Just use the item wisely and when you get in trouble. You'll certainly need this seed in the future. Farewell, Artis. We'll cross paths again."

Artis stood up, as he left the tent with the seed safely kept in his pouch he decided to go back to his room and analyze the skill he studied and study the seed even further to increase his knowledge.

As he went back to his room, which was located on the 10th floor, Room 1005, he sat down on the sofa taking a rest.

Just as he settled down, he looked up at the ceiling and mumbled a few soft words.

"Analyze."

"Record."

"Play."

And then suddenly, a blue screen appeared in front of Artis that said.

[Analyzed Skill- 2/10]
