Chapter 40 - Chapter 40 I'm out of it.

Everyone said she married him because of money, and this title followed her till today. Though some forgot about it, others still remembered how her mother slapped her in front of some people just because she rejected his proposal. But after that, she still married him because of her parents. What did she get after marrying him? Nothing but pain.

Though she wouldn't say she didn't love him, no matter what happened, he was the father of her two kids. For their sake, she would live with him and endure everything. She wished someone would put in a word for her, but no, even when she told her parents that she'd had enough, they said she didn't love him, which was why she saw everything he did as wrong. They scolded her so much that she stopped telling them everything he did and just kept it to herself or cried to remove it from her heart.

Till her kids grew up, she kept it in her heart and never told anyone except her best friend, Emmy. But today, her son stood up for her, and she was proud of him.

After being punished by Ace that night, Diana and her friends, especially Namy, split off. After they went home and met at school, Diana and Namy no longer talked to each other because Diana found out that Namy also loved Ace, so she broke off the friendship between them.

While Maya made her own way, as she was no longer friends with any of those girls who beat Aria back then, and was now living a comfortable life at school without any trouble. Now, walking in the school, when she spotted Namy walking in her direction, she quickly turned back and walked in the opposite direction, avoiding anyone of them since that time. If she got exposed, those girls might beat her up as punishment.

"Maya!" Namy called from behind as she kept following Maya.

Hearing Namy calling her, Maya quickened her steps, not wanting to talk to her. "Maya, wait!" She called again.

Sighing, Maya drew in a long breath and exhaled it before turning around to face Namy. "Hi," Maya said, watching Namy curiously, wanting to hear what brought her here.

"Hi, Maya. I was calling you from behind. Didn't you hear me?" Namy asked.

"Oh, sorry. I didn't hear you earlier," Maya lied, still watching Namy curiously.

"Oh, it's okay. I just wanted to ask you something. Do you mind?" Namy said.

"No, please go on," Maya said with a fake smile.

"I was wondering whether we can be friends again and teach Diana a lesson. She's always getting on my nerves, and it's time I got her out of the way," Namy said.

Maya's eyes widened as she listened attentively, her brain processing what Namy was saying. For God's sake, was that what brought her here? Even remembering beating someone made her shudder in fear because of the punishment she got after that.

Inhaling loudly, Maya opened her mouth and then closed it immediately. She was about to tell Namy what she got and the fear she felt when she got cut by Ace, but she shut her mouth at the thought of it.

"Maya, you forgot what we got the last time we plotted against someone, right?" Maya asked carefully.

Hearing what she said, Namy felt the chill of that day come back, and she immediately shuddered in fear, shaking her head to get rid of the thought.

"Yes, I know. I didn't forget it, but now we're not going after Aria, but Diana, right?" Namy said with a smile, trying to convince Maya.

"Yes, I know, but it's still beating someone, right? And seriously, I'm out of it. I won't do anything close to that in my life again, ever," Maya said firmly and started walking.
