To begin this story, it must start from the end. Princess Cadence, the woman I admired and respected, is a psychopath. I tried so hard to fight it, to believe that it wasn't true, but the fury in her eyes told something else. Something heartless, something angry. As we stand and face each other, she places her hand on the hilt of her sword which she has sheathed on her waist and activates the portable shield mounted on her wrist, then she just stares at me from across the platform. I can feel the heat building around me.
The Starfire engines were preparing to launch. They have enough power to change a planet's orbit, and we are standing on a ship right above the nozzle. The only thing keeping us alive were the ship's shields. When it ignites, the world around us is going to burn and the entire atmosphere will light up with it, killing every living creature on this planet, including us, but that's what I want. What the princess has stored here needs to be destroyed and I'm going to stall her for as long as possible. I grab my rifle from off the floor and load in a magazine. I activate the holo sights and aim straight at her. Cadence didn't care what was happening, she's only focused on me.
"Cadence," I yell. "We can stop this. We can stop it before it's too late."
"It's already too late," She says pissed off and ready to explode at any moment.
"Cadence, please."
"Of all people, I thought you would understand. You and I know what it's like. To fulfill a purpose far greater than your own and be judged every step of the way. I was judged for every little thing I did and it still wasn't enough! I was meant to be Queen of the Sulis Empire but my father took that away from me before I had the chance! Everything I did was for fucking nothing!"
"Cadence."
"I'm going to tear down everything he built."
"Then you are no different than he was. You killed people. Innocent people."
"Really? And what about you? Demi Nassa. Star of the Nassa Clan. How much innocent blood is on your hands."
"No." I said, disgusted at her mere suggestion. "That was all you."
"I did no such thing." She unsheathes her sword and points it at me. "We had a fucking deal."
"You call this a deal?"
"Thanks to you, I've had enough. The bureaucrats, the priests, the politics, everyone! I am going to burn it all."
She goes into the ready stance. Her feet stood wide and her blade rose into the air, then aimed straight toward me. She is ready now.
"I'll burn it all to the fucking ground, starting with you!"
The flames start to rise. Cadence starts to charge, and I pull the trigger, letting out a flurry of bullets. Suddenly everything goes white.
Perhaps though I've gone too far forward. I may need to explain how we got here. It all started a few months ago.
