"Why? Why? Why?"
The familiar word reached Chu Wuyao's ears as she stared at the bloody face of the female villager.
This sight, coupled with what had happened shortly before with Feng Yu, would have caused any ordinary person to start doubting whether they had gone crazy.
But Chu Wuyao didn't show abnormal reaction.
Instead, she smiled slightly.
However, with the headless corpse on the ground next to her, this smile seemed a little weird.
"Do you think that you can scare me like this?", she questioned the female villager, but didn't expect to get any concrete answer from her.
"Why? Why? Why?"
Just as expected, the villager ignored her and kept repeating the same word over and over again.
At the same time, Chu Wuyao's ears twitched and she heard the sound of many footsteps rapidly gathering towards this place.
Sensing this, Chu Wuyao wasn't willing to waste any more time with this villager.
Stepping on the ground as hard as she could, she jumped out of the window and appeared in front of her.
Her right hand turned into a punch and she threw it straight towards the female villager's bloody face.
This punch looked ordinary, but with Chu Wuyao's strength, it was not something that an ordinary person could deal with.
Just like Feng Yu before, the villager also tried to struggle and raised her hands, putting them in front of her face and trying to defend.
"Crack!"
The sound of bones cracking and flesh tearing spread throughout the village, as Chu Wuyao's punch passed straight through the villager's hands, then continued unabated towards her face.
"Boom!"
Her fist hit the villager's head.
"Wh-..". the villager murmured, but the sound soon stopped.
Cracks appeared on every inch of the bloody head, before it exploded into pieces.
Blood flew everywhere but thankfully, Chu Wuyao had already expected it and stepped back, dodging it.
Only her hand had some blood on it, but Chu Wuyao ignored it.
Recalling the feeling she had when the punch hit the villager, her expression became a mix of curiosity and doubt.
"Even though these things can only be killed by breaking their heads, they are actually very weak."
"They only have the strength of an ordinary human.", she judged based on her previous experience.
Of course, with this abnormal ability to remain alive even after being split into half, no ordinary human could deal with them.
Let alone mortals, even low-level cultivators would be tricked by this and end up falling into a dangerous situation.
While Chu Wuyao was busy killing the female villager, the sound of rapid footsteps never stopped.
Before long, Chu Wuyao quickly came face to face with the people who made the sound.
Looking around, more than a dozen of villagers had faintly surrounded her.
Chu Wuyao recognized some of them and as she had previously met them at the village's gate.
"Why? Why? Why?"
The villager's mouths opened slowly, muttering the same word in a low voice, while they had an expression of grief and blood tears flowed on their cheeks.
Chu Wuyao noticed that among the crowd, there was also an old man with a long beard.
Who else could it be if but the village chief?
But compared to their last meeting, the village chief's kind expression had disappeared and he looked exactly like the rest of the villagers.
"Did i stir up a monster's nest?", Chu Wuyao joked subconsciously.
In fact, she had already guessed that these villagers were most likely controlled by something or someone behind the scenes.
Even then, she wasn't planning to show any mercy.
To her, it was all the same.
"I don't care if you are controlled by something."
"If you dare to threaten my life, then be prepared to die.", she said in a cold voice.
Then, she didn't talk any more nonsense with the villagers.
She knew that even if she tried to communicate with them, she would only get the same answer: "Why?".
Pink mist flowed out of her pores and quickly spread to the area around her.
Chu Wuyao didn't hold back and immediately chose to use a skill that was very suitable for the situation in front of her, the Fog of Hallucination.
Last time she used it in the Warring Beasts Forest, the pink mist was very slow and could easily be dodged by her enemies.
Now, however, not only had her cultivation increased, but her proficiency in the skill itself had also improved massively.
The pink mist's speed was extremely fast and soon, it engulfed all the villagers.
"Huh?"
Chu Wuyao became a little surprised when she noticed that the villagers showed no abnormality and continued their mutterings in a low voice.
Moreover, her attack seemed to have irritated them and made them aware of her threat.
"Why? Why? Why?"
In unison, they all moved at the same time and attacked Chu Wuyao from various angles.
A male villager punched Chu Wuyao from the side, but Chu Wuyao reacted quickly and punched back, meeting his hand in the air.
"Boom!"
The villager flew back and fell to the ground, as his arm's bones made a cracking sound.
Chu Wuyao was about to continue attacking him, when the rest of the villagers' attacks arrived at the same time.
With no other choice, she could only step lightly on the ground and move her body to dodge.
She wasn't planning to trade injuries with the villagers and her focus was on dealing with them as efficiently as she could.
Thankfully, even though her injuries hadn't been fully healed, it didn't affect her movements at all and only slightly lowered her combat power.
Chu Wuyao stepped on the ground lightly and dodged the villagers' attacks, her figure becoming ethereal and flashing all over the place.
While dodging, she didn't forget to fight back whenever there was an opportunity.
"Ffttt!"
Her fingers pierced through a villager's eyes, and her nails passed through his brain.
The villager's body twitched violently, then the next second, it fell to the ground.
With the first villager dead, Chu Wuyao's pressure was lowered and she had way more room to dodge and fight back.
"Boom!"
Soon, her hand turned into a punch and hit a female villager's head, crushing her skull into pieces.
"Boom! Ftttt! Bang!"
The fighting noise continued resounding throughout the village, and the sound of bodies dropping to the ground came from time to time.
Finally, less than a minute later, only Chu Wuyao remained standing in this place.
The land around her was in ruins, with blood everywhere and corpses laying on top of each other on the ground.
The majority of these corpses were relatively complete, with just their head being pierced through or cracked, but there were a few of them that died more gruesome deaths.
In complete contrast with this scene, Chu Wuyao's figure was spotless, with no blood on anywhere on her body except her right hand.
As a cultivator, she didn't have any issue to deal with some mortals, no matter how strange these mortals were.
"Is the person behind the scenes finally coming out?", Chu Wuyao whispered as she took a handkerchief out and wiped her hands, while her gaze traveled towards the center of the village.
From there, she could feel a very strong aura was coming, as if a powerful creature was waking up from its slumber.
With its awakening, the noise around the village seemed to have stopped.
From the chirping of birds, to the sound of animals fighting, it all stopped in an instant.
It's as if somebody had pressed the "Pause" button.
