Chapter 28 - "Behind closed Doors"

They are both busy reading in the room when they suddenly hear noises coming from outside.

Kangha furrows his brow. "What is that?"

They leave their room to check and find a commotion in the field outside.

Wojin looks around. "What's happening out there?"

Kangha shakes his head. "I don't know. Let's go find out."

They head down to the field, where some boys are sparring to prepare for an upcoming competition. At the far end, others are practicing with guns.

Kangha walks up to Miss Choi. "Miss Choi, what's going on here?"

Miss Choi answers calmly, as though this is something she's already familiar with. "The headmaster has instructed all students to gather in the field to learn these skills."

Kangha raises an eyebrow, surprised. "The headmaster said that?"

"Yes, he did," Miss Choi confirms. "No student should remain idle; everyone must learn everything. No one should fall short in any competition."

Kangha looks away, his gaze scanning the field as he takes in the sight of around 150 students practicing. His mind begins to race with thoughts.

Wojin approaches Kangha with a grin. "Kangha, should we test our strength against them?"

Kangha's expression remains serious, his thoughts still on what Miss Choi had said.

Kangha narrows his eyes, speaking low but with intensity. "Not strength—use your mind. Think about it: why would the headmaster gather the entire school here, yet stay away himself? Doesn't he want to see how well his students are preparing to surprise me?" He raises an eyebrow, his words carrying a weight of suspicion.

''i think he empty the school from doing some else."

Wojin looks at him, a frown tugging at the corners of his mouth. "So, are you saying he might be trying to empty the whole school for something else?"

Kangha nods slowly, his gaze still scanning the field. "I feel that what we're seeing here may not be the truth."

Wojin gestures for them to leave. "Let's go check it out."

As they turn to head off, they freeze. The headmaster is approaching them. Both stop in their tracks, and Kangha's eyes narrow further, studying him with growing suspicion.

The headmaster walks toward them without his usual hat and cane, his hands clasped behind his back as he takes in the students gathered in the field. There's something off about the way he carries himself today.

He approaches them, his smile wide and almost too perfect. "Haven't you two started preparing yet? Kangha, are you confident that you can win?" he asks, his tone almost playful.

Kangha's face remains serious, his mind sharp. His focus is solely on the headmaster, trying to catch any sign of cunning or deceit hidden beneath that smile.

Kangha locks eyes with the headmaster, his gaze commanding and unyielding. Finally, he speaks, his voice calm yet filled with authority. "All these things you're teaching—I already know them. If you truly want to defeat me, bring something new to the competition. These simple games are something I already know."

The headmaster smiles again, his expression almost too pleasant. "This is only the beginning of the challenge. Be prepared for what comes next."

With that, he moves away, turning his attention to the other students in the field, leaving Kangha with a simmering tension in his chest.

A clear expression of anger flashes across Kangha's face, but before he can say anything, Miss Choi places a reassuring hand on his shoulder.

"Kangha, relax. This is not the time to let your anger get the best of you," she says, her voice calm but firm.

Kangha's eyes narrow, filled with indignation. "I have a feeling he'll definitely try some sort of trick or deception in this competition. And I also know that all this is a show he's putting on with the school kids." The frustration in his tone is unmistakable, and the fire in his hazel eyes burns brighter.

He takes a deep breath, closing his eyes for a moment to regain control. When he opens them again, his voice is steady but resolute. "Alright,wo- Jin, let's go. Since the headmaster is here, we can go check his room. He's busy anyway."

With that, they turn to leave, ready to uncover what the headmaster might be hiding.

Miss Choi looks at Kangha with a mixture of concern and curiosity. "Kangha, what exactly is in his room?"

Kangha keeps his focus sharp, his voice low but firm. "Principal, when I went to the headmaster's office this morning, I noticed that at first, he wasn't there. But then, suddenly, he appeared in front of the library. There's definitely something in his room that can give us more information. We need to go check it right now."

Miss Choi nods, understanding the urgency. "Alright, then you two go. I'll keep an eye on the headmaster to make sure he stays occupied."

Kangha gives a quick nod of thanks, and without wasting any time, the two of them slip away, making their way toward the headmaster's office at a brisk pace.

Kangha leads the way, with Wojin following close behind. They reach the door to the headmaster's office, both of them pausing for a moment to take in their surroundings. Kangha takes a deep breath, his eyes locking onto the door. This is it—the moment to uncover whatever secret the headmaster is hiding.

He reaches for the door handle and twists it, but the door doesn't budge. He frowns, his suspicion growing.

"It seems like the door is locked and won't open," Kangha mutters, frustration in his tone.

"Try again," Wojin urges, his voice filled with determination.

Kangha places his hand on the door once more, pressing against it with more force, but it's no use. The door stays stubbornly shut. Both of them exchange a glance, the weight of their next move clear between them.

"It's not locked from the outside, though," Wojin says, his voice filled with confusion as he inspects the door.

Kangha runs his hand over the smooth surface of the door, his expression hardening. "But it's still shut tight..." The door is almost eight feet tall, imposing and solid.

"Let's try giving it a strong push together. Maybe then it'll open," Wojin suggests, stepping back, ready to give it another go.

Kangha nods, and both of them brace themselves. Using their shoulders, they push forcefully against the door. A loud thud echoes in the air, and they're both thrown back nearly six feet from the door, which doesn't budge. It stands as firm as ever, as if a storm has slammed into them. The impact is so intense that Kangha's left shoulder strikes a nearby pillar. The pain shoots through him, sharp and overwhelming, making it feel as though his shoulder might have broken.

Wojin stumbles forward but manages to catch himself, though he hasn't sustained any serious injuries.

"Kangha, are you alright?" Wojin asks, rushing to his side.

Kangha winces in pain as he clutches his shoulder, unable to stand just yet. "I think my shoulder is broken," he murmurs, the words coming out strained as he lies back on the ground, trying to steady himself.

Just then, a voice calls out, breaking the tense moment. "Headmaster, where are you going?" Miss Choi suddenly appears, noticing the headmaster rushing out of the area in a hurry.

The headmaster slows down and looks over his shoulder, his face showing a hint of concern. "Miss Choi, take care of the students, but I have to go right now."

Miss Choi's calm voice follows him. "But what happened to you, Headmaster?"

"Nothing happened to me, Miss Choi. I'm just going to my office," the headmaster replies quickly, his tone evasive as he moves away. His hurried departure only deepens the mystery.
