Rowan
I adjusted my tie, staring at the blank screen of the large monitor mounted on the wall. Rudolf had helped set everything up earlier with his usual smug grin plastered on his face as he teased me about playing the role of Soren's right-hand man.
"Don't mess it up," he had joked, slapping my shoulder before walking out.
I'd rolled my eyes but didn't bother responding. The weight of the task Soren had entrusted to me left no room for humor. He was scared of facing the Mafia syndicate and instead, delegated it to me. I was somewhat happy but still, I didn't want to mess it up seeing as it would have consequences.
Now, as the digital clock on the wall ticked closer to the hour, I adjusted my posture and took a deep breath. The moment the screen lit up and the faces of Soren's business associates appeared, I straightened, ready to take on the role he needed me to play.
