Chapter 19 - Now You see me

The apartment was dimly lit, cluttered with hastily discarded first-aid supplies and bandages scattered across the floor. The twins—identical in both appearance and arrogance—sat nursing their wounds, bruised and bloodied from their last encounter with Kaelen. They exchanged glances, their faces twisted with pain and frustration, each silently vowing to make him pay. But as the city lights flickered through the window, casting eerie shadows, their sense of security began to feel thin, as if the walls themselves were watching.

Suddenly, there was a faint scuffling sound outside their window. Before they could react, a dark silhouette burst through the glass, shards scattering across the room like lethal confetti. The twins scrambled back, shock turning to horror as they saw the face of their nightmare standing amidst the broken glass—Kaelen, his shadowed figure an ominous presence against the faint city glow. He looked down at them, a predatory grin stretching across his face.

"Miss me?" he taunted, his voice low and mocking, throwing their own words from their previous encounter right back at them.

"I thought I'd find you here, hiding from whoever it is sent you after me" Kaelen said as he scanned the room paying them no attention

The twins' shock gave way to rage, and they launched themselves at him, hoping to overpower him together. They swung with everything they had, fists charged with raw energy, powers flaring. But Kaelen was different now. He'd studied their moves, memorized the flow of their attacks, and anticipated their every motion with a brutal efficiency honed from years of deadly training.

"Fuckin amateurs" Kaelen whispered to himself

One twin threw a punch aimed at his face, her fist surrounded by a crackling aura of energy, but Kaelen sidestepped smoothly, grabbing her arm mid-swing and twisting it backward until a sickening snap echoed through the room. She screamed, but Kaelen didn't relent, shoving her into her sister's path with a force that sent them both sprawling against the wall.

"Heh, I don't think I even have to use my powers at this point" Kaelen told himself as he slowly walked forward

"Who the fuck are you, ju–just leave us alone" One of the Twins blurted as she held her broken arm with tears streaming down.

The other twin rose, summoning her power in desperation, her hands glowing with a charged energy blast. She aimed, but Kaelen closed the distance too quickly, grabbing her wrist and redirecting the energy back at her, searing her own skin. Her cry of pain was cut short as Kaelen delivered a swift knuckle to her throat, successfully choking her.

"Look at you, your both so pathetic I'm barely even trying" Kaelen chuckled as he weakly pushed the choking Twin aside

He sat Down on an old Couch has he let them recover from his attacks. Both twins gave him an intense glare as they both charged at once

The other twin tried to punch him, but he used the heel of his boot to kick her wrist back, than delivering a side Kick to her rib while at the same time dodging a Jab from the other twin as she stumbled past him.

He grabbed her hair and pulled her backwards tossing her into her sister who sustained a severe wound to the ribs

They fought with all they had, but Kaelen was relentless, methodical. Every punch, every kick was executed with precision, each movement flowing seamlessly into the next. He shifted between brutal boxing combos, swift martial arts techniques, and bone-crunching grapples, never giving them a moment to recover. He headbutted one, feeling the satisfying crunch of her nose breaking, then spun around and delivered a brutal roundhouse kick to the other's jaw, sending her crashing into a table that splintered beneath her weight, before delivering another Axe kick to the one he headbutted.

Blood painted the walls, and their once-arrogant expressions were now masks of terror, desperation etched into their faces as they realized they were hopelessly outmatched. Kaelen's eyes gleamed with a sinister satisfaction, his mouth curled in a cold, ruthless smile. They'd tried to steal from him, to humiliate him. And now, he was delivering their punishment.

"Wait don't kill us, we c-can help you, we'll do anything"

Kaelen shoved his boot in her mouth and said "Lick it" with a emotionless expression. She hesitated but diligently complied as her sister watched in horror.

Kaelen slowly shifted his gaze to the other sister and clicked his tongue, "See what being weak does, take a good fuckin look at your sister licking my boot, like a dog while you sit there helpless", Right as he finished his sentence the Sister who watched picked up a shattered sharp wooden piece and tried to stab his calf.

Kaelen saw this and lifted his boost from the wet mouth of the other sister and brought it down again when the sharp wooden was below his heel forcing the attacker to stab her own sister

"Weak and stupid" The sister who licked his boots choked on her own blood as Kaelen spoke, The other sister stared in shock and horror.

"I-I didn't mean too, no, no, no..." She was in deep shock that she was losing it.

"Oh but you did, you meant evey action, you saw how weak she was and decided to end her insignificant life" Kaelen whispered as he knelt down besides the sobbing Twin who held her Dead sister in both arms

As she held her Dead sister she spoke her head in denial still convinced she could save her somehow but felt a hard tug behind her.

Kaelen had grabbed a hand full of her loose hair. Surge Augmentation.

Feeling his energy reserves Channeled towards his arm where he held her hair tight, and tossed her across the room easily dragging her weight across. She flew across the room and hit the wall with a booming impact, creating a small crater that spread out like spider webs.

"Feels like tossing a plastic ball" Kaelen commented while clenching his fists, as colorful energy pulsed through his veins

"There's more strength you possess but haven't yet grasped" The Voice interjected suddenly, with a malicious yet subtle tone, Kaelen wonder what his limits are based on this ability alone that increases his strength

"AHHHH, Please—" The twin couldn't even finish her sentence as she spat a mouthful of Blood, She slammed on the floor leaving the crater on the wall visible.

Kaelen could swore her spine was probably shattered upon impact, "Well I think it's time I wrap things up".

"No wait, you don't have to kill me. I promise I'll disappear you won't ever have to see my face ever again, atleast just let me live to bury my sist—"

"Your sister doesn't need burying, your both maggots. Dirt beneath my feet grasping for what's left of this world" Kaelen spoke his hand suddenly became ablaze like his arm was on fire. But he was unaffected which left the Twin shocked.

He walked up to her and grabbed her jaw and upper mouth, the heat was too intense burning her skin in the process revealing her muscles and skull. Surge Augmentation

He ripped out her Jaw, tossing it aside and his arm suddenly sparkled and jolted with lightning as he grabbed both sides of her head.

His veins pulsed with a more bluish color as the lightning electrocuted her scalp till her head bursted into pieces due to the Heat caused by the lightning.

By the end of the night, the room was silent, save for the soft sound of Kaelen's breathing as he looked over the broken, lifeless bodies of the twins. He took a moment, almost contemplative, before he bent down and completed his final task,"Heh, I think i got carried away, well not that I care" Kaelen nonchalantly remarked. It was as though he was simply completing a job, another task in a long list of deadly to-dos.

Hours later, as dawn began to creep over the city, the gruesome scene was discovered by the neighbors. Two couples stumbled upon a of severed head and a Mutalated body sitting atop a blood-stained bed, the eyes of the severed twin forever frozen in terror.

The message was clear, chilling, and brazen. Word spread quickly, rippling through the underworld like a shockwave, the Twins death although insignificant was noticed by many. Whoever this man was, he wasn't just a killer—he was a force to be reckoned with, a merciless predator staking his claim over the city.

Kaelen watched from the shadows, far removed from the scene but aware of the chaos he'd sown. The Voice was silent, approvingly so, as Kaelen felt a surge of satisfaction welling up within him. He'd made his mark, sent a warning to anyone who dared to challenge him.

And as the city began to wake, Kaelen knew that this was only the beginning. He was here to conquer, to take everything this world had denied him, to make his name synonymous with fear. The city would learn, one way or another, that Kaelen was not a man to be trifled with. He was a force, a nightmare, and now… he was the ruler of his own dark domain.
