Chapter 23 - Chapter 23: Combat Experience

A masked man had a digusted look in his eyes as he glared over Tye in disdain.

How did this man find this place, when no one should know about it?

How does this man look normal, when all of this village is overrun with mad people?

As he wondered all these things, he signaled two of his men to snuff out Tye.

They clenched their fists and started stomping their feet towards Tye, following their bosses orders like mindless zombies.

Tye observed their quickening of pace and entered a fighting stance.

Griping hard onto the hilt of his sword, he widened and flashed his eyes across and over the men approaching him.

As they both tried to pound Tye to the ground—to their shock—he ducked and ran ahead of them.

The leader of the men was distracted as he had turned back to the woman after giving his orders.

Until he heard fast and hard footsteps heading towards him.

He became ashened to see that Tye had left the other men for him.

"Defend!" The man commanded two other men next to him.

The two men went in front of him and rushed towards Tye with gauntlets with spikes for the exterior.

Tye now had two men heading for him, front and back.

Surrounded, he wasn't phased.

He immediately stopped running and sent his blade backwards from his right side.

Due to the blade's length, it had been pierced through the man's body.

"Aahh!!" He screamed and fell to the ground.

As the one next to him became ashened, he tried mustering courage and swung his fists towards Tye.

Just before the others could catch up, Tye quickly withdrew his sword from the body and slashed the eyes of the one about to hit him.

"Aaaahhhh!!!" He screamed as he touched his eyes with blood pouring around the floor.

The sight made his comrades frustrated as they ran harder towards Tye.

Tye threw his sword to the floor and used his full power to send the now blinded man towards his attackers.

They managed to dodge and stumble.

As one of the men looked up, he was greeted with a blade slicing his face open.

As profuse amounts of blood gushed out, his comrade was terrified as when the blood in the air settled, he saw the fearsome eyes of Tye.

His hands and legs began to betray him as he saw all his comrades screaming in pain and losing crucial amounts of blood.

"Aaahhh!!" The screams of his comrades echoed into his mind, belittling his ego and courage.

The man no longer had any willpower to fight and stood with his body shaking.

He now slowly backed off from Tye and his boss shouted at him

"Don't be useless! Eat the fruit!"

His boss's words made his eyes to sparkle as he remembered the fruit he had as a last resort and arsenal.

When consumed, the user begins to generate more amounts of blood in their body, more than needed.

As followed is an increase in all present nutrients in the body and the fruit contains energisers—increasing physical capabilities.

But it leaves the consumer in madness.

But to Tye's observation, the man gobbled the fruit and didn't run mad.

His attacker was just staring at him with his eyes turning red.

Tye's eyebrows twitched and furrowed as he tightened his grip on his sword.

The man in front of him clenched his fist and furrowed his eyebrows in anger and ran to him like a tyrant.

But this wasn't Tye's first time dealing with someone that had consumed the fruit.

Seeing the man had run mad and charged towards him, Tye ran past him with his blade—cutting off a leg.

"Aaahhh!!!" The man screamed as blood gushed out profusely and he fell to the ground.

His boss was frozen in fear as he saw Tye looking over his men, whom for some reason, he didn't kill.

They were all just filled with enormous pain and screaming at the top of their voices.

"Do you know why I didn't kill them?" Tye asked in a cold voice without looking at the men's boss.

Their boss was silent.

Tye continued

"From the looks of it, you're behind the corpses scattered around this cave.

And you torture this woman" he said pointing to the mad woman that was being tortured.

"So I thought: "Why don't you people get tortured as well?""

Without waiting for an answer, the man saw Tye running towards him at great speed with his sword!

The man was frozen cause Tye looked like a horror with his outfit, like a ghost.

The man ran away into another cave, while still carrying the woman.

As Tye chased him, he was before three caves, not sure of which one to go to.

He went with his instinct and trod carefully into the cave in the middle.

As he was walking slowly, the cave only got darker.

Until a few more steps, and there'd be nothing to see but darkness.

"Ha ha ha ha!"

Tye turned in gaze to his back as he heard the laugh of a man.

He widened his eyes in shock and tightened the grip on his sword.

Meanwhile with the man, he had ran to the second cave and hidden at a corner, with a large hole leading to another cave.

With no sight of Tye, he got a chance to relax and breathe.

But thinking back to how Tye defeated his men, he became enraged. As for the woman he captured, he covered her mouth with cloth to keep it shut.

"Idiot! He wants to pause my plans?—"

"Actually" a cold voice at knife-point began

"I want to stop—not pause—your plans."

***

As if possessed by a spirit, Lina had turned from a helpless woman into a veteran assassin.

The sight made Kti and Yiss to shudder and their legs to be frozen at the sight.

Lina was not only killing assassins that neared her, but pursuing the ones that ran away.

As she ran into the dense trees of Blood Forest, only the clashing of blades could be heard.

Kti ran after Lina.

While Yiss was hesitant and scared and slowly went towards Kti's direction.

As Kti reached a dead end in the forest that had a hill too high to be climbed, what came into sight made him to lose his breath.

Lina was on her knees covered in blood. With her lips smacked, she just stared at her hands covered in blood.

While several assassins were on the floor, dead.

As Kti mustered courage to approach her, his steps were echoed all around as silence had followed after the bloody battle.

Kti approached her and patted her shoulder

"Lina—" He was silenced when he saw that Lina's hand were shaky.

Her hands shook so much he was worried that whatever happened to her was beyond what he's seen with other Rogue members.

"Let's... Let's go." Kti said in exhaustion as he sighed.

Yiss had caught up with them and was filled in horror and peered to see more closely.

After working with Lina for a long time at the Medical Camp, she never knew her to be a person of this nature.

When Yiss and Lina came to Blood Forest, they were betrayed by an adventurer that was to help them journey in this forest.

His name was Dil.

And having consumed the fruit of Blood Forest, he went amok and nearly killed them all.

Due to they had no combat experience, if not for Yama and Kti saving them, they'd be dead.

Cause Yiss and Lina had no combat experience.

At least it looked that way.

For some reason, Lina has combat experience.

But, where's it been?
