Chapter 7 - Chapter 7: Trudging Through Mystery

Tye got up to his feet rejuvenated.

He looked ahead and a young man rushed over to him

"You must be better now, ready to leave?"

"No. Where's your father?" he said with stern

"He's inside. What happened?"

Tye stroke his beard and glared at him

"If you have a sword, bring it. Any weapon will do."

The young man found his words disturbing.

"What do you mean?"

He asked disturbed

"Your family's farm contributes greatly to this village, so if you could just—" the young man got annoyed

"If you won't get to the point, then—" Tye interrupted him by pointing over to a side of his farm.

When he looked closely, two men and a bear were stealing their produce.

"What?! How did you know?!..." the man was shocked

Before Tye could respond, he rushed off for a bow and arrows.

"These filthy thieves, die!" he said, sending an arrow towards them.

When the thieves noticed him, they ran off as the man had missed the shot.

"That won't work." Tye said in disdain.

He took the bow and arrow from him and dashed after them into a thick corn field.

Then he stopped and the other man caught up to him but Tye's appearance disturbed him.

He wasn't running or firing arrows. And his eyes were closed.

"Young man!—" Tye interrupted him with his hands signaling for silence.

Then he reached for his arrows and fired three into the air.

"You're mad!—" he told Tye. But Tye ignored and said

"Bring your father. The attackers of this farm are no more."

The other man's heart sank as Tye's words were cold, but confident.

Meanwhile with the man's father, he was inside his house speaking to a huge, firm man that's an adventurer.

"Yes, I can catch a few bandits for you. My name is Ven"

"*Alright. Since you've answered the Job Request posted the other day, you're hired!" the old man said and continued

"The reward, as you know, is your hand in marriage to my daughter."

"I'm aware! So where do I start?—" a young man came rushing in.

While panting, he said

"Father! The young man has caught the bandits! We're free!"

The old man's eyes widened and he sprang up to his feet and his son showed the adventurer and his father the way.

When they reached they saw no one.

Only a bear with an arrow on its neck.

With two other men with an arrow to the head and heart, respectively.

A note on the floor was left behind amongst the corpses.

[You have a wonderful family. So I have taken off the burden these thieves bring. Now live in peace.]

The father and son were speechless looking at eachother.

"Does that mean I can't have your daughter?" the adventurer interrupted.

The father spoke

"Yes. For someone else has done the task."

"Who will that be?" He asked out of annoyance

The son smiled and said

"His name is Tye."

"Blood Forest" Roy said

"If we're to help Kiltar and we die in the process, who will do the helping?!" he asked worried.

But no one could answer him.

For he was right.

Too far away from civilization, there was no going back.

And a society that it's monarchs only care for themselves—in spite of an epidemic—they were on their own.

"Um... Everyone" Lina said in great disturbance

"Corpses of... Knights. Several of them!"

Everyone turned to Lina's angle ashened.

There laid four knights that their bodies were decaying.

"This forest is crazy!" remarked Dil.

Large worms were consuming the corpses and the sight of this made Roy puke.

Dil fell to the ground and looking around putting his hands to his head he said

"First deranged men. Then mad horses. Now these knights—" Before he could complain any further, he noticed a squirrel eating a few berries.

And then it stopped, dropped the fruit and rushed towards Dil at incredible speed.

It tried biting his arm but he dodged it.

While the others were too distracted, he was busy dodging the squirrel's attacks.

And then the squirrel stopped.

And ran away from him.

He followed it and was led to a large tree with hundreds of berries.

But the squirrel was nowhere to be seen.

Only a sign nailed to the tree:

[You were warned earlier but you disobeyed. Now, you shall die.]
