Chapter 32: A Desperate Stand
The battle raged on, the village square now a battlefield of light and shadow. Jin Soo and his companions fought with everything they had, but the shadow creatures kept coming, their numbers seemingly endless.
"We can't keep this up!" Min Jae yelled, his movements slowing as exhaustion set in.
Eun Ha gritted her teeth, her blade slicing through another creature. "We don't have a choice!"
Jin Soo's mind raced as he fought, the tether glowing brighter with each strike. The leader of the shadows watched from a distance, their expression unreadable.
"They're waiting for something," Hye Rin said, her voice strained. "They're not attacking directly."
"They're testing us," Jin Soo said, his gaze narrowing. "Trying to wear us down."
As if in response, the leader raised a hand, and the shadow creatures froze. The sudden silence was deafening, broken only by the labored breathing of the group.
"You've fought well," the leader said, their voice echoing across the square. "But it's time to end this."
They extended their hand, and the shadows around them coalesced into a massive form, towering over the village. The creature's red eyes burned like fire, and its presence radiated pure malice.
Jin Soo stepped forward, the tether in his hand burning brighter than ever. "We're not afraid of you," he said, his voice steady.
The leader laughed, a hollow sound that echoed in the silence. "Then face your destiny, bearer of the light."
