Chapter 3 - Chapter 3

Wang Haoran drove to the Liu family's house.

After hearing the news, Liu's father and mother were already waiting at home.

"Haoran, come in quickly!"

Liu Yunshuang's father, Liu Zhong, had a majestic appearance, but now he was smiling and looked kind.

Liu Yunshuang's mother, Zhang Yijuan, was also very satisfied with her son-in-law and kept greeting him.

After all, being rich and handsome, having outstanding abilities, being dedicated, and being filial to his elders—what parent wouldn't want their daughter to have such a good match?

But Liu Yunshuang didn't like it and was very cold toward Wang Haoran. She lost her temper over this and ran off to live in the school dormitory. Liu Zhong and his wife had to swallow their pride, afraid that this excellent son-in-law would lose patience with their daughter's anger and leave.

Inside, they sat down.

Seeing that Wang Haoran was alone, Liu Zhong was a little surprised. He had informed his daughter, and assumed Haoran would go to pick her up. He thought of something, and his expression grew dark.

"Haoran, has Shuang'er been unreasonable again?"

Zhang Yijuan also began to speak from the side.

"Haoran, don't mind. Shuang'er is just spoiled by us. When she comes back later, I'll definitely have a word with her!"

"Uncle and Aunt, you misunderstand."

Wang Haoran said meaningfully, "Maybe Yunshuang is tutoring a good student of hers again. She might have lost track of time!"

Although Wang Haoran and Liu Yunshuang had many conflicts over Lin Ming, they both kept this from their elders. Thus, Liu Zhong and Zhang Yijuan didn't know about Lin Ming and couldn't understand the meaning behind Wang Haoran's words.

But they would find out soon enough.

The three chatted for a while, and Liu Yunshuang finally came home.

As soon as she entered, she glared at Wang Haoran, who was sitting happily with her parents, then threw her bag onto the sofa and sat down beside Zhang Yijuan, looking angry.

"My dear daughter, what's wrong? Who has upset you?"

"Ask him!"

Seeing Liu Yunshuang pointing at Wang Haoran, it was Liu Zhong who first spoke to Zhang Yijuan.

"Dear, you've spoiled her. Now she's grown up but still behaves rudely!"

"Dad!"

Hearing Liu Zhong's scolding, Liu Yunshuang felt a little wronged.

Who's the real family here?

Wang Haoran smiled at her, then took out the prepared documents, and his expression turned serious.

"Uncle, Aunt, I actually came with something important to tell you."

Seeing Wang Haoran's expression, Liu Yunshuang panicked a little.

If her parents found out they had argued over a student, they would definitely pressure her to resign.

"Wang Haoran! If anything happened, we can handle it ourselves!"

Ignoring her, Wang Haoran continued.

"I've decided to call off my engagement to Yunshuang."

"...Haoran, what did you say?!"

Hearing this, Liu Zhong and Zhang Yijuan were startled.

Last time, Wang Haoran had visited to discuss their marriage, speaking of his love and expectations. What happened today?

"Haoran, did Shuang'er do something wrong? Just tell us, and we'll make it right!"

"Yes, exactly!"

"Dad! Mom!" Liu Yunshuang couldn't bear hearing her parents blame her again.

Usually calm and mature with students, she now couldn't control herself in front of her parents and Wang Haoran.

"I didn't do anything wrong! He's the unreasonable one!"

"Just because I helped a male student with his homework, he broke his hand! I had to paid for the medical expenses!"

"He's a senior in high school from a poor family, taking his college entrance exams in a few months. Isn't he sabotaging his future?"

The more Liu Yunshuang spoke, the more wronged she felt.

"Once we're married, does that mean I can't even see my students?"

Hearing their daughter's grievances, the couple felt torn about who to believe.

Their daughter was a little willful, but she'd never lied before.

But Wang Haoran also didn't seem the type to behave that way. Liu Zhong had looked into Wang Haoran's background and knew that he was typically generous and had never bullied anyone.

"Hm… Shuang'er, is there some misunderstanding? You both can speak freely!"

"Yes, Haoran, if there's an issue, let's resolve it."

"No misunderstanding."

Wang Haoran's expression remained calm.

"Although it's a verbal engagement, I felt I should tell you in person."

"Since Yunshuang dislikes me so much, let's end it formally."

"Uncle, rest assured, this won't affect our families' cooperation."

"However, the development plans for the land in the south of the city may need revisiting."

After Wang Haoran spoke clearly, seeing Liu Zhong about to interject, he handed him the documents.

"Uncle, this will explain it."

"I'm calling off the engagement!"

Seeing Wang Haoran's resolute stance, Liu Zhong swallowed what he was about to say and opened the documents.

Wang Haoran took the chance to stand up, ready to leave.

"Haoran, don't go. Stay and eat! Auntie made your favorite soup!"

Wang Haoran politely declined Zhang Yijuan's offer.

"No, Auntie. I have some matters at home."

He looked at Liu Yunshuang.

"From now on, we have no relationship."

After saying this, he walked out of the Liu family's home.

Liu Yunshuang, sitting on the sofa, felt strangely sad seeing Wang Haoran leave so decisively after ending their engagement.

But when she heard his last words, her anger flared up again.

Matters at home? With no one else in his family, what matters could he have?

If you don't want to stay here, fine! Who cares?

Liu Yunshuang told herself she was angry because he had taken the initiative to break the engagement, making her look like the one in the wrong.

She muttered some curses at Wang Haoran, then glanced curiously at the documents in her father's hand.

Wang Haoran had said they contained his reasons for calling off the engagement. What could it be?

She never thought she was at fault. But Wang Haoran also didn't seem the type to lie, so what was in these papers?

She wanted to ask but noticed her father's face darkening as he read.

A shiver ran through her.

"Dad?"

Unexpectedly, her single word ignited a fuse.

"Don't call me Dad! I don't have a daughter like you!"
