Mike shrank his neck inexplicably. He could imagine that Keery must have been terribly tortured at that time.
After all, when he rushed back to school, he could only see the back of Keery running away in panic.
"Okay, you stay at home. I have to go to work." Diana said as she gently lifted the back of Mike's head and stuffed a pillow into it to replace her legs.
Mike frowned uncomfortably.
The pillow was actually quite comfortable, but compared to the one wrapped in the high-quality white gauze skirt, it was obviously far inferior in terms of softness, smoothness, and pleasant satisfaction...
After Diana left home, the house suddenly became deserted, and only Mike and Keery were left to guard the house.
Even little Wanda, who was usually busy at home, was gone. According to the arrangement made last week, she was taken to Gotham City by a special car sent by the Wayne Group for further studies.
That's right.
Today is the seventh day that Superman is gone.
Mike could recall with his eyes closed that a few days ago, the streets of the metropolis were deserted, countless people took to the streets holding flowers to bid farewell, and the U.S. military even deployed fighter jets in a large-scale funeral, which was unprecedented even for a president.
Sadly, Superman didn't lie in that plush, flag-draped casket.
While the whole world was undergoing a grand funeral, Superman, as the human being "Clark Joseph Kent," lay in an ordinary wooden coffin and held a small farewell funeral in front of a suburban house far away from the city.
Therefore, at a large funeral, what lies inside the empty coffin should be the justice and truth of this country.
There were only a dozen or so people at the small funeral, including Superman's family, fiancée, colleagues, and members of the Justice League that was being formed.
This is what Diana told Mike after she came back from the small funeral.
Mike knew.
This also means that his aunt had decided to inherit Superman's legacy and officially join the Justice League as Wonder Woman, joining forces with other superheroes to fight against possible extraordinary events in the future!
This would also be the second extraordinary team composed of superheroes after the Avengers!
Mike shook his head, but had no intention of joining any alliance.
After all, both the Avengers and the Justice League have Iron Man and Batman as the core leaders respectively, and he is really not the kind of person who can act and fight according to other people's ideas.
If there is a chance in the future, he might as well create his own alliance.
If we don't talk about other members, at least Gwen counts as one, right?
Mike quickly put this immature idea behind his mind, picked up Kerry in his arms, got up from the sofa, and muttered in boredom, "Why don't I take you to see Barry Allen? He has taken care of you for a while, and he specially invited you last time."
"Meow!" Keery blinked and raised a paw with pink pads.
"Five cans of small fish? Deal." Mike said generously.
So, very quickly.
Mike changed into going-out clothes and went out carrying an ordinary schoolbag. A small orange head popped out of the bag.
It was sunny outside, people were coming and going on the streets, some street walls were graffitied with patterns commemorating Superman, and billboards on the streets and alleys flashed the figure of Superman from time to time.
It's as if Superman is still alive and there are Superman everywhere.
Mike carried Kerry in his schoolbag and walked along the pedestrian street to the address mentioned by Barry Allen.
But, they are only halfway there.
When crossing the sidewalk with a zebra crossing, Mike was slightly stunned. Among the oncoming crowd, a figure in a yellow robe was very conspicuous.
It was a bald woman wearing a strange and clean yellow robe, with her hands behind her back, standing straight and motionless in the middle of the sidewalk at the intersection.
Whether it was her strange dress similar to a monk's robe or her action of standing in the middle of the road, she stood out from the crowd and was different from ordinary people.
But.
The many passers-by walking past the woman, and even the people on the entire street, seemed to have completely ignored her.
Mike paused.
His first thought was, could it be that he encountered something so-called indescribable?
"Can't you see the fear that I see?"
After dismissing the funny thoughts in his mind, Mike hesitated for a moment, moved the backpack he was carrying to his chest, and continued walking forward pretending not to see it.
Just as Mike, like other passers-by, was about to walk past the woman, the woman smiled faintly, stared at him, and said, "My name is Yao."
___
Gotham City.
Don't know if it's due to its geographical location, but the weather in this city is mostly cloudy. Even at noon every day, the sky is always covered with thick gray leaden clouds, and it looks gloomy as if it's about to rain.
Today is the weekend, and Gotham is cloudy as usual. Of course, people living in this city are already used to it.
Rustle—
A top-of-the-line extended-length black Rolls-Royce drove into the manor. The vehicle drove slowly without any bumps or vibrations and finally stopped in front of the iron gate of a large private manor residence.
The driver's seat is open.
The driver in a suit and tie came down quickly and skillfully, opened the rear door respectfully, and bent down to block the upper edge of the door in a proper manner.
The red-haired girl had obviously never experienced such treatment. She jumped down from the luxurious soft seat somewhat unaccustomed to it. Almost as soon as she landed on the ground in her uniform dress, the iron gate of the manor in front of her slowly opened inwards.
"Please come in, Miss Wanda." The driver raised his arm respectfully.
Wanda looked in the direction indicated, and what came into view was a huge manor that looked like a royal castle, with tall tower-like buildings reaching up to the dark sky of Gotham.
'Is this really the butler training base that Miss Diana mentioned?'
Wanda entered the iron gate and walked along the corridor inside the manor. Many maids who were tending plants and keeping the yard clean bowed politely and friendly when they saw her.
Wanda nodded quickly in response.
"You are Miss Wanda, right?"
A gentle and kind voice suddenly came from the front. Wanda subconsciously looked up and saw an old man with pale hair and a neat suit standing in front of the door of a manor building that looked like a castle.
"Yes, hello, old sir!"
In the overly luxurious environment, with an inexplicable sense of oppression called "power and nobility," Wanda bowed somewhat stiffly.
The old man smiled and nodded, "I am Alfred Pennyworth. In view of Miss Diana's request, you can call me 'Teacher.'"
