Chereads / Great War On Valentine Land / Chapter 6 - The Rising Storm

Chapter 6 - The Rising Storm

Across the world, in her quiet office, Aunt Luna sat at her desk, the weight of worry heavy on her heart. It had been weeks since Leo had vanished, and no one could tell her where he had gone. She had used every resource at her disposal, even contacting special agencies, but there was no trace of him. The silence was almost too much to bear.

As she sat, staring blankly at a pile of reports, her phone rang. She picked it up, her voice weary.

"Luna DeGrace speaking," she said, forcing a steady tone.

A deep voice on the other end responded, calm yet commanding. "Ms. DeGrace, this is a high-level government official. I am calling on behalf of King Lucus."

Luna's heart skipped a beat. She recognized the voice—it was someone she'd worked with in the past, someone who only reached out for matters of utmost importance.

"I have urgent news," the voice continued. "It is time to prepare. The Third Great War of Blood will soon be upon us. We need your full cooperation."

Luna felt a shiver run down her spine. "Yes… sir. What do you need?"

"Your organization has been providing advanced weapons for our military," he said. "But now, we need something more. A weapon that can turn the tide of this war."

He paused, and Luna realized she was gripping the phone tightly.

"I expect you to attend a critical meeting next week. Bring your best people. This war will determine the fate of humanity."

Before she could respond, the call ended. Luna put the phone down, her mind spinning. A war that involved humans, vampires, demons, and even gods? She felt the weight of her role pressing down on her even harder. Leo was still missing, and now she was being asked to prepare for something far bigger than she could have imagined.

Luna quickly summoned her team, calling an emergency meeting at her organization's headquarters. As the head of DeGrace Industries, a secret organization that specialized in developing magical and advanced technology weapons for the government, she had access to some of the world's most powerful resources. She needed every one of them now.

When her team arrived, Luna's voice was clear and steady as she addressed them. "We've received an order from the highest authority. We are preparing for the Third Great War of Blood. Our task is to develop a weapon that can ensure our victory."

Her team exchanged worried glances. They all knew what this meant—humanity was on the brink of a battle that would change everything. Luna, however, had something special in mind, a project her team had been working on for years.

"We're moving forward with Project HeavenDevil," she declared. "This weapon will be our strongest creation, capable of neutralizing any threat. I'm counting on all of you to bring this project to completion before the war begins."

Everyone nodded in agreement, their eyes filled with a mix of excitement and fear. This project was like nothing they'd ever worked on before. The HeavenDevil weapon was designed to harness unimaginable power, able to destroy any being in an instant. They had been developing it for years, but only now did they realize how urgently it would be needed.

The following week, Luna arrived at a hidden government facility, where the meeting would be held. The room was filled with the best minds in the country—scientists, engineers, military strategists, and other powerful figures who had been summoned to prepare for war. The atmosphere was tense.

As everyone settled, a figure entered the room, disguised in a black suit with a mask that covered his face. His presence commanded immediate silence.

"Ladies and gentlemen," he began, his voice steady and serious, "we are on the verge of the Third Great War of Blood. This war occurs once every two thousand years, and it will involve all the major forces in existence: humans, gods, demons, and vampires."

He paused, letting the gravity of his words sink in.

"Every faction will be fighting for the ultimate prize: the Power of Justice, an omnipotent force that grants absolute control over balance and order in the world. If we win this war, humanity will finally have the power to protect ourselves from any threat."

The crowd murmured in awe and fear. Luna listened intently as the man continued.

"In the last war, humans were defeated by the gods. The loss was catastrophic and left our world weakened. We cannot afford to lose again. This time, we must be prepared. And that is why we need each of you—your skills, your dedication, and your commitment to making humanity stronger than ever."

As he spoke, the man revealed critical information about their enemies. "We know that the vampires possess the Darkangel sword, a weapon of immense power. However, the sword now resides in the demon realm, guarded by the Demon King himself. Acquiring it would be almost impossible."

Despite this, the man's tone remained hopeful. "Our focus remains on HeavenDevil. This weapon is humanity's answer to the Darkangel. And we have entrusted its development to the DeGrace family."

All eyes turned to Luna, who felt the weight of their expectations. She gave a nod, signaling her commitment to seeing the project through.

The man continued, "For this war, we will also need warriors who possess elemental powers. These powers—fire, water, thunder, wind, and gravity—are rare, but they exist in every world. We are searching for people who can wield these elements to strengthen our forces."

Then, his voice grew even more serious. "There is one final power, a secret elemental force unique to humanity. Only King Lucus himself knows its nature. He will personally select the candidate to wield it."

Gasps and whispers filled the room. The idea of a hidden elemental power that could turn the tide of war was both thrilling and terrifying. Luna couldn't help but think of Leo. She remembered that he had a natural curiosity and spirit that always drove him to understand more, to be more. If only he were here now…

As the meeting concluded, the man in disguise called Luna to a private room. She followed him, wondering what else could possibly be revealed. When they were alone, he removed his mask, revealing himself as the Messenger of King Lucus—a high-ranking advisor who carried the king's messages personally.

Luna inclined her head. "Messenger, it's an honor."

The Messenger spoke kindly. "Luna, I know you are worried about Leo's disappearance. But there's something you should know."

Luna's heart skipped a beat as he continued, "Leo was chosen by King Lucus himself as the candidate to wield humanity's secret elemental power. He is the one destined to bear it in the coming war."

Luna stared in shock, unable to speak. "Leo? My Leo?"

The Messenger nodded. "Yes. His natural spirit, his courage… King Lucus saw potential in him that no one else could match. And now, his disappearance could jeopardize everything. We need him, Luna. Humanity needs him."

Luna felt a surge of emotions—pride, fear, desperation. She had no idea Leo was destined for something so monumental. Her nephew, chosen by the king himself. She couldn't let him down.

"What will we do?" she asked, her voice barely a whisper.

The Messenger placed a reassuring hand on her shoulder. "I will personally take charge of finding him. We will bring him back safely, no matter the cost."

Luna took a deep breath, her determination returning. "Thank you," she said. "Please, bring him home."

The Messenger nodded and left, his figure fading into the shadows as he began his journey to report to King Lucus.

As he traveled to the king's hidden chamber, the Messenger felt the weight of his task. He knew how much was at stake, how essential it was to locate Leo. When he finally arrived, he bowed before the king and relayed everything he had learned, including Luna's fears and the news of Leo's disappearance.

King Lucus listened silently, his face unreadable. When the Messenger finished, the king's voice was calm but resolute. "We will find Leo. We will ensure he fulfills his destiny."

With those words, plans were set into motion. The search for Leo would become a mission of the highest importance, and the preparations for war would continue with renewed urgency.

In the weeks that followed, Luna threw herself into her work, leading her team with renewed focus. The HeavenDevil project would be completed on time, and she would ensure that humanity was ready for whatever challenges lay ahead.

And somewhere, beyond the barriers of the human world, Leo continued his journey, unaware of the storm that was about to change everything.
