Chapter 6 - You are blessing

'Will it really be, okay?' Helle threw her head back with her eyes closed. Her life was moving as if she were in a movie: the evil fiancé, the saviour rich man, and a damsel in distress female lead.

Tired of overthinking Helle sat straight on the chair. She squiggled to adjust her position and looked at her phone in the news app.

The article about Orion Lennox stated about his family business. It first started with his father, and by handing it over to his sons, both Axel Lennox and Orion Lennox had made it ten times more profitable.

'Will I be able to live in that world? How will I explain it to Mom? But more importantly, what will I do once I accept it?' The thoughts filled her mind. The future scared her.

'Bang!' The main door was kicked open, and a few men entered through it.

"Uh? What the hell?" Helle got on her feet the moment those suspicious men entered the house.

"What are you?" Suddenly one of the men caught both her arms and tied them to her back. Struggling to feel her arms, she shook vigorously. Kicking them again and again, but men were not fazed. They covered her mouth, and suddenly her world blacked out.

'Splash!' A bucket of water hit her face, wakening Helle from her dreams.

Bright fluorescent lights were angled at her. Adjusting, she scrunched her. There were several men in blue uniforms. They had grim expressions and guns on their waists.

"It seems our suspect is finally awake." One of the men spoke.

"Poor girl. Going against the Sylvian," another man said, and everyone surrounding her started to cackle. This was the state of the police station in a small town.

"So, tell us, Helle. Why did you attack your fiancé? He has complained against you for several things, which include harming him and an attempt to murder." Helle instantly recognized the man. He was a close friend of her father. The policeman, however, had no ounce of emotion on his face.

As the weight of the words sank in her bones, Helle felt restless. The man before her and the entire police force worked under Sylvian. Neither following the government nor the law. Thus, answering him would be useless. After all, it was just petty revenge on that damn bastard.

"Helle Chevalier." The police officer grabbed her chin harshly. "Speak or you will most probably face a lifetime imprisonment," the shrewd officer spoke through his teeth.

"It's not like you will work for the justice." She rolled her eyes and continued, "Everything that I did was to defend myself. Anton Sylvian attacked me first." Helle's nostrils flared in anger. Her fists curled into a tight ball.

"So, you do admit to doing it. That's all we need. Officers. Lock her up!" The men start to walk towards her and untie her from the chair. Surprisingly, Helle was much more cooperative compared to her previous attempts.

'Perhaps I should just give up." With such a thought, she was comparatively about to be shifted to the jail when all of a sudden, a mass of police officers gathered them.

"ASSISTANT SUB INSPECTOR CARL KENNEL, YOU HAVE BEEN ARRESTED AND THE REST OF YOU STAY RIGHT WHERE YOU ARE," the Chief walked in along with Anton Sylvian under custody and Orion.

The sub-inspector was baffled. How could he be captured? He had worked his entire life to get to the position where he was. But how?

"Free Miss Helle. She is innocent." The chief had the eyes of the tiger. The men under him were quick to work, and soon she was freed, and all the corrupt men were jailed. Anton had gone as far as to say, 'I will not forgive you' to Helle while walking past her.

The room was empty, and only the chiefs, Helle and Orion, were present.

"I apologize to you, Miss Helle. You have been taken in detention without any proof."

She had no words. How could an officer just come up and apologize when it could have been avoided so easily in the first place? Her eyes slowly turned towards Orion, who was probably the reason why she was saved.

"I hope you can end the corruption here." Her words were loud, but her eyes were on the ground. The turmoil with her brewed a huge distance around herself. It broke the last stick of hope with in her. With a lack of response from the officer due to shame, Orion walked to her side.

"Let's go" This time gently with his words, they walked out of the police station and got into his car, which was rented.

The ride was silent, and each time Helle opened up her lips, the words stuck to her throat.

"I have my flight tonight," he informed. "I shall be waiting for 10 minutes only."

With that said, the car came to a halt. The night had fallen, and most houses on the path lit their lights, but not in her home. Helle immediately pushed the door and ran inside her house, where her mother was sobbing all alone.

"Mum!" She cried. Finally, the words within her flowed, and she got on her knees while hugging her mother, who was sitting on the chair. Lorraine had a mix of baffled, happy, and melancholy emotions stirring as she hugged her daughter.

"Mum. I'm sorry. I am leaving. I can't stay here any longer, and once I reach the capital, I'll call you. You have been the best." She kept her words short. It was a tight hug, and as they let go, Helle had tears in her eyes, but she ran outside, leaving her puzzled parents all alone.

"Wait, Helle! Where are you going?" Lorraine got on her feet and started to chase.

"To the capital! I have found a good job there, and onc-once I have stable income, I will bring you there as well. I can't live here anymore. It's suffocating and-" As Helle screamed her words, the car started to honk.

"I'll call you when I reach there." With that, Helle hopped into the car, and they went while Lorraine once again was too late to catch up to her daughter.
