"Kylie, what's he doing here now? I've decided to turn a leaf, and not cause trouble with him or his 'blondie', but it seems like he's everywhere." I said to Kylie, slightly hitting my forehead with my palms.
"Selena, it seems that you are forgetting that I am also a freshman, just as you are." Kylie replied, chuckling.
"Oh, well. You have a brother here, so you must be familiar with Nicholas. I mean, how else would you be so into him, like you are ?" I asked, so the story of her fondness of Nicholas, made sense.
"I do know he isn't a freshman like us, he's a sophomore. He gained admission into college the same time my brother did. I usually came here often, whenever my mom wanted to give foodstuffs, and other 'boy stuff' to my elder brother. So that's why I know him, that's all." Kylie said, clarifying my thoughts.
"Kylie, are you sure that's all? Hmm?" I asked, as her tickled her sides. Kylie laughed so much, that her eyes began to water.
"Stop, Selena!" She begged. Well, not until she spills the beans.
"Okay, I do like him. Just a little, now stop" she said finally. When I let go of her sides, she heaved a sigh of relief.
"I appreciate your honesty." I said, chuckling. My eyes scanned the hallway again, as Kylie and I were walking while we had our conversations. My eyes met his again, he was with two other boys, grinning about something I wasn't sure about.
As we came closer to where he was, I looked at Kylie, and she nodded her head in response. Which meant, I had better ignored him.
Intertwining my hands with Kylie's, I walked past Nicholas, and his buddies.
But as we did, I heard one of the guys next to Nicholas say, "Isn't she the brave girl whom you spoke about?" the guy said, asking Nicholas.
I spurned my head backwards, to see who said that, and what was going to happen next.
Nicholas stared at the boy like he'd kill him, for revealing what he had said about me, right in front of me.
He simply said, "Shut up man.", and walked away from them. I had thought he had wanted to go somewhere else, so I turned in the direction which I was walking to, with Kylie. But to my surprise and Kylie's, he walked towards us, and stood right in front of us. We suddenly came to a halt, it was 'The Nicholas Carson' standing in front of us after all.
"Um, can I have a second with you, Selena?", Nicholas asked, his voice sounded so soothing, so calm, so serene. So he can be this polite ? Too late, I already don't like you, Mister.
"Yes. Kylie I'd be with you shortly." I said to Kylie, while motioning for her to walk a bit forward.
"Sure, Selena.", Kylie said, while walking away.
"So, what do you want, Mister?" I asked Nicholas, with my hands folded across my chest. I watched as he cleared his throat, I couldn't help but stare at this beauty standing in front of me. Good gracious.
"I want to apologize to you, for my behavior earlier. I had had an altercation with someone somewhere, before I came to school..so I was upset, and unfortunately vented my anger on you. I really am sorry, Selena." He said, and he did sound sincere. Just a little, just a little.
"Mhm, so you know how to say "sorry". I'm surprised." I said, sarcastically. Still maintaining my hands across my chest.
"C'mon, let go of your anger towards me. I mean, you literally smacked me across the face." He said, reminding me of my behavior towards him, as well.
"Well, I'm sorry for doing that. I just couldn't put up with your attitude." I said, as a matter of factly.
"I apologize for my 'attitude'. I hope we can start all over again, seeing that you are a freshman in the English Language and Literature department. I'm in my second year, and this also is my discipline. Without further ado, I am Nicholas Carson, it is a pleasure to meet you." He said, with an outstretched hand, hoping I took it in for a handshake. He was a senior here? Nicholas studies same course as Kylie and I? What? Why? Oh, my goodness. So I would have to see him everyday?, well now we aren't enemies or foes anymore, but I still don't want to see him everyday, c'mon!
"I only knew you were a sophomore, I had no idea you'd also be in the same department as Kylie and I. How intriguing. I'm Selena Williams, it's nice to meet you too." I said, while taking in his hands. His hands seemed unusually warm and cold at the same time. I faked a smile at him, while asking myself if it really was nice to meet him.
"I hope we get along much better", he said while letting go of my hands. I smiled at him, saying, "I hope so too."
"Well, that's all I wanted to discuss with you. Thanks for your time. See you around." He simply said, and walked off, not even waiting for my response.
I walked towards Kylie, who was most definitely dying to know what happened.
I told her everything that had happened, from the fact that he apologized, to the revelation that he was studying the same course as us, and that he wanted he and I to 'get along better'.
"Wow, so that means I'd get to see Nicholas everyday?? Oh my goodness, I'm so excited." She said, smiling sheepishly.
"Oh, c'mon. Here we go again" I said, rolling my eyes.
"What? It's not my fault that he is such a beauty, is it?". Kylie asked, I replied in my head, "No, it definitely isn't mine either. Nicholas is just too good looking for his own good".
"Let's get going, Kylie." I said to her, to remind her that we were previously heading to our homes when we met him. It seems she had forgotten.
"Yes, home. Let's go" she said smiling, while running, and kicking her legs in the air, like some highschool girl who was deep in love.
"Selena, would you want my brother to drop you off at your place? You know our houses aren't exactly situated in the same street?" Kylie asked. Should that even be a question?? No, it shouldn't, dearest Kylie.
"Yes, I do!" I said, excitedly. Kylie looked at me, and said, "Slow down girl, you're playing with fire. You may get burnt."
I laughed loudly, "I don't mind, my love." I replied, smiling at her sweetly.
"I'd ring him up. Well, as for me..I'd head over to my boyfriend's place." She said, and I stared at her in awe. Boyfriend?? She has a boyfriend? I'm lost.
"Wait, what? You have a boyfriend?" I asked, still surprised.
"Yes, I do. Why do u look so surprised?" Kylie asked, laughing.
"Well, because you never mentioned that you do. Does your boyfriend know you fangirl over a male idol, whose name is Nicholas Carson?" I asked, teasing her.
"Girl, shut up" she said, laughing.
"Well, whatever. Do well to ring your brother up, and give me his number as well." I said again to her.
"Hello, Mike? Where are you? Please, I want you to drop Selena at her house, because I'm going over to Jayden's place today. Please, I'm begging" she said, I hoped he responded in the affirmative.
"Really? Thank you so much. We are outside our department's building, be here in five minutes." Kylie said, with so much authority. Which made me doubt that Mike was really older than she was, or was she her parent's favorite? Only favorite children spoke with such audacity.
"Selena, he'd be here soon. His department is close by." Kylie said, assuring me that her brother was really coming to get me.
Her phone began ringing, and she took the call. "Are you here now?, oh, seen you". She said, before ending the call.
She pulled me out of our department building, towards a sliver Lexus 350 car. As we came closer, I watched as the door to the driver's seat opened, and the boy who reminded me of Adonis, the greek god of beauty, came out of the car. Waving his right hands, he said "Over here..". When Kylie and I came to stand directly in front of the car, she said, "We aren't blind. We do know you were over here".
"I wasn't even talking to you, Kylie. I was talking to beautiful Selena." He said, I'm sure to spite his sister. Not like he meant it.
"Oh, please." Kylie said, rolling her eyes out of irritation. Continuing she said, "Here she is, get her home safely".
"Trust me to do just that." Mike said, assuring her of my safety.
"Selena, I'd see you tomorrow morning. Love you." She said, as she pulled me in for a hug. I melted in her embrace, she was such a sweet person.
"See you too, Kylie. Love you more." I said, as we broke our hug. She watched as I climbed into the passenger seat of the car. She stood there, watching closely as Mike started the car, and zoomed off, before she walked towards a commercial bus line around college, which would get her to her own destination.
"So, um Selena...where do you live?" Mike asked, which made me realize that we were in the car alone. All alone, just by ourselves. Clearing my throat, I said "Fifth Street." I was nervous, the car seemed so hot, was it just me?
"Could u turn on the air conditioner? I feel hot." I said to him. He simply nodded, while turning on the AC.
The drive was a very silent and awkward one, as no one was willing to say anything to each other.
When he had gotten to my house, I cleared my throat again and said, "Thank you so much for bringing me home."
"You're welcome, anytime." He said, before coming down, and turning around to open up the car door for me. I mouthed a 'thank you' to him, and he simply nodded. Before I had walked into my house, he called out to me again.
"Um, Selena..would it be okay if I could get your number?" He asked, smiling, hoping I said 'yes'.
"Yeah, sure". I said, as I took his phone and dialed in my number on his phone.
"Thank you so much. I'd text you later, see you tomorrow." He said, as I nodded, and walked into my house.
After entering into the sitting room of my house, I turned to shut the door behind me. When I was done, I attempted to walk back to my room, upstairs. My mother came out of nowhere, scaring the living daily light out of me.
"Mommy! You scared me. Jesus!" I said, to my mother, while placing my hands on my chest.
"Sorry, but that's not the big deal now." My mom said.
"So what then is the big deal??" I asked, curiously.
"The big deal is, who is he???!" My mom asked, while pulling me towards one of the many sofas in the sitting room.
I knew for sure my mom had watched me from one of the windows. Oh, my mother!.
As I sat down, I explained everything that happened to me today. Ranging from the altercation with Nicholas, me meeting Kylie for the first time, the blondie show at the cafeteria, my first meeting With Mike, my first class with Kylie, Nicholas apologizing, and now Mike driving me home.
"Wow, a lot happened to you today, on your first day, Selena. How intriguing." My mom said laughing.
"I know right?" I said, laughing with her too.
"Well, about Mike..." She started.
"Mom, stop. He is a playboy, he doesn't do commitments. And I am also not interested in all those dating hassles. I just like him as a person, not that I want to date him." I said, disregarding every thoughts of my Mother, which related to me dating Mike.
"I'm going over to my room, I'm stressed out and exhausted. Goodnight". It was past 7pm already, and yes I do sleep early.
I definitely did have the most stressful first day at college!
