saw my mom again being shot right in the head, and I was just hiding in one cupboard, holding my doll close to my chest. My dad was made to watch as my mom was killed, and his loud screams were so piercing that I tightly closed my eyes. It was the first time I saw fear in my dad's eyes.
Soon, I felt like someone was shaking me and calling out to me. I woke up and stared around and saw my house worker Maria close to my bed, staring at me with concern in her eyes.
"Ma'am" She bowed as she met my eyes.
"What are you doing here?" I asked, looking slightly agitated, because I hated when people saw me like that.
"Ma'am, you were shouting out your mothers's name, so I heard and checked in to check on you," she replied, still bowing down.
"What time is it?" I pushed the hair on my face to the back and then I realized that I was sweating under the air- conditioning.
"5 am, Ma'am," she replied, "Should I run your bath now?" Maria asked again.
"Get out," I said, but she was still standing there. I stared at her, getting angry. "Get out now, I don't feel like saying things twice Maria".
"Sorry ma'am," she left almost immediately.
I sighed and slumped back on my bed, memories I try so hard to forget, but it keeps playing on and on inside my head. I stared at the ceiling for another 30 minutes before getting out of bed to take my shower.
I felt a little relaxed as the cold water touched my head and ran down my body. I stayed under the shower for a long while before coming out to get ready for work.
This is my first day at work, my dad is stepping down for me to take over. I've spent most of my life groomed for this position, and now the day has finally come.
I sat in front of the morrow as I brushed my jet black hair down. It reminded me of my mom. She had this same color of hair, and when I was little, she would play dress up with me and style my hair, while I would style hers afterwards. I smiled at this memory.
A knock on the door brought me back to reality. With the way the person knocked, I reckoned it was Melissa, my sister.
"Come In" I said, and stood up from my dresser and headed toward the wardrobe to pick an outfit for my day.
"Hey sis, I am so super excited for you," she screeched with excitement.
"Can you bring it down a little? You are so noisy," I said in a stern voice because I can't stand her sometimes.
"Whatever," she said and sat on my bed, "Mom has told me to tell you to get ready, because we are going to have a girls' day out" She smiled at me and winked.
'You are a creep. Stop doing that," I scrunch my face. 'And what does dad have to say about this?" I asked.
"He is totally fine with it, even collins is tagging along" She stood up and twirled. "Meet you downstairs in 30 minutes, mom said" She skipped to the door and giggled before going outside.
I looked at her retreating figure, shook my head, and sighed at her hyperactive behavior.
I got dressed in a blue jumpsuit and black heels. I applied lip gloss on my lip, picked a black bag to go with and headed downstairs.
I walked towards the dinning where everyone was already seated and having their breakfast.
"Good morning mom, dad" I greeted and took a seat opposite from my cousin that lives with us, Garrett. "Would you stop giving me that look?" I asked, giving him a repulsive look.
"Good morning to you Davina, how was your night?" Garret gave a sarcastic smile along with his question.
"My night was dark. Maybe there was sun on your side of the house" My reply was snarky and it definitely shut him up and stopped him from smiling.
"How are you preparing for your big day?" My dad asked.
"Mom and Mel, has it planned out already as it seems," I said and Melissa Chuckled and mom laughed.
"Of course we do. We are spending loads of time together today." Mom said with a smile. "Now eat so we can head out," she winked at me.
Gosh, both she and Mels give me the creeps with their over cheerful attitudes.
Mom and Mels have thick blonde wavy hair and creamy brown eyes, but Mels looks more like dad facially. Dad has Light brown hair and black eyes. Mels has dad's facial features and without any telling, you would know she was their child. Even Garret looks a little like my mom because of the eyes.
I, on the other hand, have thick, long, straight jet black hair, flat ocean blue eyes. I looked nothing like them and even the blind could tell.
My lips were not as full as theirs, and mine was much cherry red and theirs was faintly pink, but it was bright.
But that didn't matter because they loved me all the same and I love them as well.
