Chapter 2 - Yuanlong City

The Myriad Era, a time of great change and upheaval, had given birth to a new era of coexistence among the myriad races. Gone were the days of endless conflict and bloodshed, replaced by a era of peace and prosperity. The Prominent Age, a time of great genius and innovation, had dawned upon the world, and with it, a new generation of leaders and heroes had emerged.

Paradise, a vast continent nestled in the Northern Sea of the Myriad Dao World, was a testament to the power of unity and cooperation. Its lush forests, towering mountains, and sparkling rivers had given rise to a civilization that was truly one of a kind. For as long as anyone could remember, Paradise had been a beacon of hope and prosperity, attracting visitors and immigrants from all corners of the world.

As the sun rose over the horizon, casting a warm glow over the continent, the people of Paradise began to stir. They went about their daily lives, tending to their crops, their animals, and their families, all while basking in the warm sunlight and the gentle breeze that rustled the leaves of the trees. The air was filled with the sweet scent of blooming flowers and the distant chirping of birds, creating a sense of peace and tranquility that was hard to find in other parts of the world.

Despite its many wonders, Paradise was not without its challenges. The two neighboring continents, the Godslaying Continent and the Beastlord Continent, had long been wary of Paradise's growing power and influence. The Godslaying Continent, a land of ancient forests and mist-shrouded mountains, was home to a people who prized strength and martial prowess above all else. They had long sought to encroach upon Paradise's borders, but the people of Paradise had always managed to defend themselves, thanks to their advanced cultivation techniques and their deep connection to the natural world.

The Beastlord Continent, a land of scorching deserts and twisted rock formations, was home to a people who were born and bred for battle. They were a fierce and proud people, with a deep connection to the primal forces of nature. They had long sought to expand their territory, and their gaze had fallen upon Paradise as a potential prize.

It was said that Paradise was actually part of the legendary Immortal Paradise, a realm of eternal beauty and wonder that was said to exist beyond the boundaries of the mortal world. While this claim was still unproven, the people of Paradise took great pride in their connection to the Immortal Paradise, and they worked tirelessly to preserve the natural balance and harmony that had made their continent so prosperous.

As the day wore on, the people of Paradise went about their daily lives, unaware of the great changes that were about to take place. The world was on the brink of a new era, one that would be marked by great upheaval and transformation. But for now, all was calm and peaceful in Paradise, a sense of tranquility that would soon be shattered by the arrival of a new and powerful force.

Resting inside a grand hall, a middle-aged man was smiling and admiring the view of the Yuanlong City.

The warm sunlight streaming through the windows highlighted the intricate carvings on the walls, casting a golden glow over the entire room. City Lord Jian's eyes sparkled as he gazed out at the bustling streets below, his smile growing wider with every passing moment.

"City Lord, what are you smiling for?" A tall and majestic old man walked in, wearing a luxurious Daoist outfit that seemed to shimmer in the light. His eyes, however, were piercing, and his voice carried a hint of curiosity.

"Nothing, I was just admiring the beauty of my Yuanlong City," City Lord Jian replied, raising his wine cup and taking a sip of the fragrant rice wine. The liquid danced on his tongue, leaving a subtle aftertaste that seemed to match the gentle breeze rustling the leaves of the trees outside.

"Is it?" Elder Kong, the old man, raised an eyebrow as he sat down on a nearby seat, pouring himself a cup of rice wine from the same jug. His eyes never left City Lord Jian's face, as if searching for something.

"How is the preparation for Sect Disciple Recruitment going on?" City Lord Jian asked, his voice tinged with a hint of concern.

Elder Kong sighed deeply, his expression turning wry. "I guess, fine and all. Unlike last year, this year there are too many competitors flocking together to steal all those talents yet to join any sect or academy."

As he spoke, Elder Kong's eyes seemed to cloud over, lost in thought. City Lord Jian's expression turned understanding, and he nodded sympathetically.

"Ah, yes. Last year, your Glinting Star Sect had your Heavenly Ren with you, which gave a boost to your reputation. But after he left the sect, your reputation has been stagnated for too long."

City Lord Jian's words were laced with a hint of regret, and Elder Kong's eyes snapped back into focus. "Heavenly Ren was the most brilliant genius of the last generation, one who suppressed all the geniuses and ruled his generation. But after achieving Divine Realm, he left the sect to explore the world."

A faint smile played on Elder Kong's lips as he continued, "Rumors have it that he has left for the God Continent of the Eastern World of the Myriad Dao World."

The mention of the Eastern World sparked a faint sense of curiosity in City Lord Jian's eyes, and he leaned forward, his interest piqued. "Similar to the Northern Sea, there is the Eastern World, where numerous continents exist. And the God Continent is one of the famous lands to visit for a powerful and talented genius like Heavenly Ren, who once suppressed all the geniuses of the Northern Sea."

As the conversation continued, the air in the grand hall seemed to grow thick with anticipation, as if the very fate of the Glinting Star Sect hung in the balance.

.......

Yuanlong Market was the center of Yuanlong City, where all the vendors and businessmen gathered.

The bustling streets were filled with the sounds of merchants hawking their wares, the smell of fresh food wafting through the air, and the vibrant colors of the market stalls.

But amidst the chaos, a sense of excitement and anticipation hung in the air. For every year, at the beginning of autumn, the sect disciples and academy disciples from across the city would gather at the Yuanlong Market to recruit new members for their respective organizations. As the crowd grew thicker, the voices of the recruiters grew louder, each one trying to outdo the others in their promises of power and prestige.

"Everyone, come here if you want to join the Ancient Flame Sect and learn all the mythical flame dao of the world!" a young woman exclaimed, her eyes shining with enthusiasm.Nearby, a tall and muscular man stood proudly, his voice booming through the market.

"Everyone, Azure Mountain Sect is here if you want to join a sect where you want to train your physique to transcendent level!" he declared, his chest puffed out with pride.A group of elegant women, dressed in flowing white robes, stood together, their voices sweet and melodious.

"Our Mystic Maiden Sect is here if you ladies want to cultivate immortality," they chimed in unison, their eyes sparkling with a hint of mystery.

As the recruiters continued to shout out their offers, the crowd grew more restless, with many young people eagerly seeking to join the prestigious sects and academies. The air was filled with the sound of chatter and laughter, as well as the occasional shout of excitement or disappointment.

Like each year, many of the major forces from across the Yuanlong City had gathered together to recruit new talents for themselves.

The Ancient Flame Sect, the Azure Mountain Sect, the Mystic Maiden Sect, and many others had set up their stalls, each one offering a unique set of benefits and promises to attract the best and brightest young minds.

As the crowd surged forward, the recruiters held their breath, hoping to snag the most talented and ambitious individuals for their respective organizations. The Yuanlong Market was a place of great opportunity, where the fate of countless young people would be decided.

"Excuse me, I would like to join Tri-lord Sect," a young lady in her early twenties said, walking up to the group of people recruiting new disciples for the Tri-lord Sect.

Her eyes scanned the group, her gaze lingering on the young man clad in a luxurious Daoist robe. He was tall and lean, with a confident air about him that seemed to command attention. His eyes, however, were what really caught her attention - they were piercing and intense, as if they could see right through her.

"Hm, young lady, you want to join our Tri-lord Sect?" he asked, his voice low and smooth. He raised an eyebrow, his expression intrigued.

"Yes, I want to," the young lady replied, her voice cold and detached. Her words seemed to hang in the air, like a challenge or a dare. The young man's eyes narrowed slightly, as if he was sizing her up.

"Very well," he said, his voice dripping with sophistication. "Let us see if you have what it takes to join the Tri-lord Sect. What is your name, and what makes you think you have what it takes to join our ranks?"

The young lady's gaze never wavered, her eyes locked onto the young man's. "My name is Ling Mei," she said, her voice still cold and detached. "And I have what it takes because I am willing to do whatever it takes to achieve my goals."

The young man's expression turned thoughtful, as if he was weighing her words. "I see," he said finally. "Well, Ling Mei, let us begin the assessment. Are you prepared to face the challenges that lie ahead?"

Ling Mei's eyes flashed with a hint of excitement, but her voice remained steady. "I am ready," she said, her words dripping with confidence.

"Then, Ling Mei, you can take this token and visit Tri-lord Sect during the entrance exam," the young man, Wen Wen, said, handing her a jade token. He informed her to visit Tri-lord Sect for the entrance exam, his expression serious and formal.

Ling Mei nodded her head, her eyes never leaving Wen Wen's face. She took the jade token from him, her fingers closing around it like a vice. "Sure," she said, her voice firm and confident.

With that, she turned and walked away, her silhouette disappearing into the crowd of people. Wen Wen watched her go, a faint frown on his face. He said nothing, but his eyes seemed to bore into the distance, as if he was thinking about something.

Tri-lord Sect was one of the Three Major Sects of Yuanlong City, comparable to the Nine Academy and the Five Great Families. It was a powerful and prestigious organization, known for its skilled warriors and its rich history.

As Ling Mei walked away, Wen Wen's thoughts turned to the complex web of power and influence that ruled Yuanlong City. There were the Nine Academy, the Five Great Families, and the Three Sects, each one vying for power and prestige.

Among the Five Great Families, the Jian Family was considered the most powerful and strongest of all. They had been ruling over Yuanlong City since its founding, their progenitor said to be one of the many gods who had served the True Immortal of the ancient era.

The Jian Family was a powerhouse not to be messed with, their influence and power extending far beyond the city's borders. They were a force to be reckoned with, and anyone who wanted to succeed in Yuanlong City had to be careful not to cross them.

As Wen Wen stood there, lost in thought, he couldn't help but wonder what the future held for Ling Mei and the Tri-lord Sect. Would they be able to withstand the challenges that lay ahead, or would they fall victim to the complex web of power and influence that ruled Yuanlong City? Only time would tell.
