Chapter 41 - Two Clans

His face appears peaceful and tranquil as if everything he told him was not a heavy past he carried. He was enjoying the fish he was eating and his eyes weren't held by a darkness that appeared a moment ago.

Atlas shot him a glance and he half-smiled, "I didn't think I would spill so much secrets tonight. I do kinda feel better after telling you these things."

Atlas chewed another bite of the fish as he made these yummy noises.

"Mmm-So-Good. It does taste really good. Wanna try?"

His eyes curved into a grin and asked.

Sebastian shook his head and responded with amusement. "I'm good."

Atlas tilted his head as realization struck him, his eyes wide as he stated frankly. "Oh, that's right. I almost forgot. Even though you can eat anything, it doesn't help you. You need blood which is crucial for your kind."

Sebastian tilted his head, something about Atlas's words sounded off to him. His mind went back to the scene when the shape-shifter called Atlas a half-breed.

Sebastian narrowed his gaze at Atlas's body. Atlas can get cold very easily. He lacks the strength or speed like werewolves and vampires possess. Was it possible that the shape-shifter made a mistake?

But why would Atlas beg him not to send him with her as if he understood what would happen to him? That if he let him go, they would kill him. Who was Atlas talking about and who are they?

As the questions in Sebastian's mind continued to spin. He remembered that the shape-shifter murmured above the kneeling figure on the tile floor.

'How did a half-breed, like you, overcome your father, the leader of the Barbaros? It must be a lucky coincidence. Regardless, I'm taking you back, but they didn't tell me to bring you back alive. Besides, you're worth more dead than alive.'

Sebastian narrowed his gaze as he gave him a once-over glance. He was beginning to realize that Atlas is not a simple individual. He decided to ask, to see what response Atlas would give him to see if he's trustworthy. "I heard that shape-shifter called your father the leader of the Barbarbos Clan. Was your father a shapeshifter? Does that make you one as well?"

Atlas was stunned by the questions. He pursed his lips as he nibbled on his bottom lip, "I came from a city called Nightfall. It is a small city where werewolves live amongst humans, who have no clue about the werewolves. My family has ruled the land for generations, but I was born without a wolf. My father believed that my mother had been unfaithful to him, which is why my father despised me."

He gave a bitter smile that tugged Sebastian's heartstring before it disappeared in the blank of an eye.

Sebastian observed him take another breath before he continued. "My mother came from a large group called the Hogi Clan, which was seen as an enemy by my father's side. To bring peace to both sides and reduce bloodshed, my mom's marriage was arranged to my father, but it didn't go as well as everyone wished."

Sebastian lifted his gaze as he asked for clarification, "Wait. Let me understand. Your mother and father's clan were both enemies, but they wanted a peace treaty. To do that, your mother and father were paired together to unite the tribe together. But it didn't work out because your father thinks your mother cheated on him. After all, you weren't born with a wolf."

Atlas forced a grin, "Yes. You get the hang of it. That's part of the reason my father hated me. The real reason I'm hunted down is because I killed my father who was the leader of the Barbaros Clan. I thought if I could escape to the territories of the vampires, they wouldn't find me."

That day I met him in the woods wasn't a simple coincidence after all.

Sebastian propped his chin up with his hand. There was a trace of admiration in his half-lidded gaze. "You are either ballsy or foolish. If a different vampire discovered your true identity, that you're a shape-shifter, they wouldn't hesitate to kill you. What makes you think you'll be safe out here? There is a reason why vampires and werewolves don't get along."

Atlas smiled arrogantly with his head lifted high. "It's a good thing I don't have a wolf."

Sebastian watched his teeth tearing through the flesh as he swallowed the last piece of the fish. The only thing that was left was skin and bones. Atlas tossed the last piece into the red flames, which surged into the air as it made a crackling noise.

Atlas wipes his mouth with his hand before he lets out a burp loudly. His eyes widened in embarrassment as his hand rubbed his belly. "Oops."

Sebastian cocked his head in amusement, "I heard that."

Atlas glares at him with flushed cheeks as he replies with irritation. "Who cares? Everyone burps at some point. You have no right to judge me."

Sebastian rolled his eyes as he chuckled while scratching his ear lazily. He was trying to get rid of the itchiness that irritates him to no end. "Fuck off. No one's gonna care if you burped or not. Although it's cute to see you're embarrassed."

Sebastian's eyes gleamed with mischief, "Nobody's here, except for me. No need to be shy."

Atlas's face twitched a couple of times before he bit his teeth in frustration.

Then he asked after taking a deep breath. "Anything else you want to ask me?"

Sebastian wanted to ask more about the wolf clans, but he could tell that Atlas was exhausted from looking at his face. There were dark circles underneath his eyes.

Atlas was doing well to hide it from him, but Sebastian was aware it was a long day and he just survived an attack and walked for the entire day.

Most of all, he isn't a creature of the night like Sebastian, who requires less sleep. Atlas may be a supernatural entity or not, but it doesn't change the fact that he's weak as a human.

He needs to sleep well for tonight because they'll have a long day tomorrow.
