Chapter 33 - Fight to the Death

The shapeshifter shrugged her shoulders with a sneer. "It is none of your business, vampire. Regardless, I'm taking the half-breed with me. He's worth a lot of money."

What? I remember earlier that she mentioned him killing his father, a leader of the Barbaros Clan. I had never heard of that clan before. And did she call him a half-breed? What does that mean? Is Atlas part werewolf or something?

Regardless, her words brought a mirthless smile to his face. "Let me ask you something. What part did I say I wanted to give him away? The boy is mine. If you want him, you must go through me."

The shapeshifter narrowed her yellowish, glowing eyes into slits, resembling those of a serpent, and with a chilling calmness, she asked, "Are you certain you want to protect the half-breed? If it's money you want, I'll split half with you. That boy is worth ten grand."

Sebastian was stunned by the amount of money.

Who wants the boy so badly? Is it someone who seeks revenge? What kind of individual am I dealing with? It is common sense to release the boy and avoid retaliation. I didn't survive this long by kicking the hornet's nest.

Sebastian was stuck in deep thought. He didn't reveal his thoughts on his face. The bathroom was filled with deafening silence, except for the running water pouring out of the broken sink, leaking through the hole, and trickling into the white tiles of the floor.

The water on the floor soaked Atlas's kneeling form and seeped into his sweatpants. Atlas was kneeling on the ground behind Sebastian's sturdy figure, casting a shadow across the floor.

Sebastian felt a tug on his ankle from a soft hand. He looked down to see what Atlas was doing. His trembling hand was soaked with tainted blood. A flicker of fear crossed his eyes, and his words were slightly hoarse, though anyone could detect a hint of pleading within them. "Don't send me with her. I beg you. If you do, they will kill me."

Although I had only known Atlas for two months, I had the feeling this would be one of my life's greatest regrets if I let him go.

Sebastian knelt down next to Atlas's kneeling form, his shoes soaked by a pool of water on the floor. A shadow of a tiny smirk appeared at the corner of his lips as he reached out his hand to tug on Atlas's cold cheeks. "Little fool. You are worth more trouble than I thought."

Atlas's purple double pupils widened with shock, and a hint of fear flashed across his eyes.

Sebastian was filled with fury again, but he was able to control it beneath the surface, not letting his true thoughts appear on his face.

He turned around and looked up at the shapeshifter, who was watching with a slight smirk on her lips. She licked her lips as she asked with a glint in her eyes, "What is your choice?"

Sebastian let out a mischievous grin, but his crimson eyes flashed with a chilling glint, and he smiled coldly, although his words were softer. "No. That's my answer. In the end, he belongs to me."

No one can hurt him, except for me.

Sebastian watched as her glowing yellowish eyes flashed with cold rage, despite her grinning crookedly. "I hope he is worth it."

After finishing her statement, she ran forward with unnatural speed, raising her arms with her razor-sharp claws stretched out. She let out a loud growl akin to that of a provoked beast not getting its way.

Her entire body became a blur, resembling a speeding car in the eyes of humans. Her blue hair fluttered rapidly behind her like wind, and she leaped at him.

Sebastian's eyes narrowed into slits like snakes as he immediately reached his hand into the water near his ankle.

The water made a splashing noise as he snatched the shards from the surface of the murky liquid.

Sebastian watched her come closer, unaware of his recent actions. He wrapped his fingers around the shards, his palm slashed open due to the tight grip on the shard.

Blood trickled down his palm, and he raised the shard toward her waist, plunging it into her soft flesh.

"Uugh!"

She groaned softly as spurts of blood flowed from her stomach, the blood making an oozing sound as it continued to overflow her wounds.

She let out a painful howl akin to a wolf's cry. She knelt down with a loud thud upon contact with the soaked tile, water splashing up like a waterfall in reverse, soaking their clothes.

Sebastian could dimly hear Atlas gasp loudly, partly from shock at the sudden turn of events.

Sebastian didn't let his guard down. He didn't believe the situation was simple. He watched for any sudden movements or signs of an unforeseen attack.

In the corner of his narrowed eyes, he saw a movement. Her razor-sharp nails, covered in blood, were reaching toward the figure behind him.

He thrust his nearest hand, which wasn't covered in blood. His hand plunged into her stomach and pushed it all the way through her back.

She let out another high-pitched howl akin to a dying beast as she gripped his hand tightly. She scratched his arm with her razor-sharp nails, leaving lines of bloody gashes on his pale skin.

She gritted her teeth; hatred bled through her words. "You... You won't get away from this. You—you think you can protect the boy. I am not the only one who is after h—him."

Sebastian didn't let her words affect him, although some parts of his heart quickened at her choppy, dying words. She gave a twisted smirk at the corner of her bleeding lips as if she found something remarkably hilarious.

She let out a hard cough as her body convulsed violently.

Her glowing yellow eyes revealed derision as she found something absurd and coughed up blood, staining her white, sharp teeth.

Her yellow eye turned dull and lifeless. Her body became still, but her skin remained warm against his body.
