Chapter 7 - Life and Energy

Regarding life and energy, the maintenance of life depends on the absorption and consumption of energy. With energy, life can continue. Without energy, life will stop. This applies to not only life, but everything.

Time itself seems to not exist. It is just the process of the emergence and disappearance of energy. In the vast universe, the discovery and application of energy by life on the planet is civilization. The higher the degree of application, the higher the level of civilization.

Human beings' use of resources and energy on Earth is only at the level of a second-order civilization. There are many main reasons for the backwardness of civilization, the most critical of which is the lack of energy from the mother planet and the insufficient development and utilization of life civilization.

[Nebula Power] is the key force for all life to advance in civilization. The advancement of all life and civilization in the universe cannot be separated from this energy.

There are only two ways for nebula force to appear. One is the natural formation of energy on a planet. When the energy of a planet is very strong, the energies will automatically accumulate. When they reach a certain volume, they will form nebula force. Such nebula force will attach to other objects, waiting to be activated and developed by certain life forms. However, high-energy planets are very rare, so the naturally formed nebula force is very small.

The other is that life forms collect energy by themselves, using some very advanced containers to collect energy. When it reaches a certain volume, the collected energy can form nebula force in the container. There are also some special life forms that can use their own bodies as containers, collect energy in their bodies and form nebula force when it reaches a certain volume, but life forms that can reach this level are very rare.

As far as the Earth is concerned, it is far from impossible to collect energy to form nebula power, because the Earth is a planet with extremely scarce energy. Even if all the energy of the entire Earth was collected together, there would not be much nebula power. What's more, humans are unable to create such collection containers, and the human physique is not sufficient to collect so much energy.

Simply put, if the volume of energy reaches ten thousand, then this ten thousand energy will automatically convert units and turn into a nebula force. Life can store and absorb one thousand energies, but cannot store and absorb ten thousand energies. However, a nebula force that has been converted can be directly stored and absorbed.

The life and technology on Earth are not enough to collect the power of a nebula, which is why the most intelligent life civilization on Earth is only level zero, order two.

The first-level civilization is divided into nine levels. Advanced civilizations will not go to the places of low-level civilizations because that does not help their advancement. However, after an advanced civilization advances to a certain level, the risk of continuing to advance will become greater because every advancement may fail.

Failure will lead to many consequences, the most serious of which is [the nebula is shattered].

Li Ming learned through his own arrangement of information that the soft thing that fell from the sky on the night he watched the meteor shower was a life form of some advanced civilization that failed in its advancement, causing the nebula to break into pieces, and the broken nebula fragments fell to the earth.

The broken nebula fragments will float in the universe with the consciousness of the original life form and part of the nebula power, until the nebula power is exhausted and the life consciousness disappears completely.

If the broken nebula fragments can reach a new life form with the original life consciousness, the consciousness can be reborn after the life form obtains energy. Of course, there are two other possibilities.

One is that the nebula fragments are directly swallowed by a higher-level civilization, and the nebula power in them is absorbed, causing the nebula fragments and the consciousness in them to die directly. The other is that this consciousness coexists with the parasitic life form or is absorbed by the parasitic life form.

The nebula fragment that Li Ming swallowed was exactly the nebula fragment of an advanced alien civilization and carried its consciousness. Li Ming learned from the text recorded in those memory fragments that the alien civilization life was called [Harris]. After entering Li Ming's body, it was left with only a nebula force, which was also directly absorbed by Li Ming, causing Li Ming to advance from a level-zero second-order civilization life to a level-zero third-order civilization life.

However, a low-level civilization like Li Ming only absorbed the nebula force, and the other party's consciousness was not swallowed, so they temporarily became coexistent.

Li Ming, who is of the third-level civilization, has reached the limit in speed, five senses, and strength, which is a height that is beyond the reach of human beings!

After the civilization level is advanced, it needs to be activated. When the energy obtained from the outside world reaches the limit of the body, the advanced level can be activated.

As far as human physique is concerned, it is absolutely impossible to activate the energy required by the third-level civilization by relying on the meager energy in food. Li Ming relied on the bonus of the nebula power in his body to eat so many sweets but still could not meet the energy needs. However, Li Ming successfully activated the life of the third-level civilization through the energy of electric current in the mall.

But there is another life consciousness in Li Ming's body, that is Harris. Through the sorted information, Li Ming learned that in addition to Harris, there were more than a dozen broken nebulae from other advanced civilizations that fell on the Earth at the same time. Although these arrived on the Earth at the same time as Harris, it was just a coincidence.

However, since they are nebula fragments of advanced civilizations, they must carry a certain amount of nebula power. As long as they are found and their nebula power is seized, Li Ming and Harris will have the possibility to continue to advance.

This naturally made Li Ming understand some truths. Those meteors that streaked across the earth might not all be meteors, but might also be fragments of this kind of nebula.

Of course, after the nebula breaks, most of the nebula fragments will fall onto lifeless planets and slowly die there. Even if they fall onto a life-rich planet like the Earth, they may not be able to parasitize successfully, because the choice of host is also particularly important. If it is not human but other animals, it will be very dangerous, and basically no different from slowly dying.

Harris and Li Ming are both lucky. As a human being, Li Ming is the most perfect host on this planet. Harris gave Li Ming the power of the nebula, allowing Li Ming to advance to a higher civilization than humans.

There is also some information about the earth, because the earth is not friendly to the life of higher civilizations. Harris has fully grasped the relationship between the earth and the life of higher civilizations through Li Ming's mobile phone.

Harris can be very grateful that humans are the most civilized life on Earth, because after the nebula fragments fall to the Earth, they must quickly find new life to parasitize their consciousness. It is naturally very lucky to be able to parasitize the consciousness on the most advanced life on this planet.

Furthermore, the energy on Earth is extremely scarce and is not suitable for the survival of advanced civilizations, because advanced civilizations require sufficient energy supply, which is difficult to meet on Earth.

Finally, there is the "poison gas" on Earth, oxygen. Except for a few metals, all matter and life cannot escape oxidation, aging and death. In advanced civilizations, life is based on higher energy, but on Earth, although all organisms rely on oxygen, they are also oxidized by oxygen.

Compared to the messy information in his mind, the above is just the tip of the iceberg that Li Ming pieced together. However, knowing these is enough. It is not that Li Ming has no desire for knowledge, but that a lot of information is still too complicated. Just for this content, Li Ming was busy for a whole day, and it took a lot of effort to barely decipher it, and he didn't even know whether his interpretation was correct.

Moreover, Li Ming had to continue to watch the content he had recorded repeatedly. Naturally, Li Ming had to verify whether these contents were true.

"Third-order civilization?" Li Ming raised his head and muttered to himself.

Putting down the thick stack of papers in his hand, Li Ming came to the window and looked at the night sky outside. Suddenly, a slight smile appeared on his face.

After returning to his bedroom, changing into formal clothes and picking up his cell phone, Li Ming planned to go out for a walk to verify the strength of his third-order civilization. However, just as he picked up the phone, the screen lit up and a ringtone rang. It was a call.

Caller's note: Meng Lianyi.

This was a female colleague of Li Ming's previous company and also Li Ming's only friend. The reason they became friends was mainly because of their common hobby, astronomy.

Both of them are astronomy enthusiasts. Apart from work, their main topics of conversation are about the vast universe and the starry sky. However, they don't have much contact with each other. They only notify and share each other when there are celestial phenomena such as meteor showers or shooting stars.

Li Ming answered the phone, and a voice came from the other end: "Li Ming, where are you?"

The voice was slow and soft, which was not normal at all. It gave people the feeling that the person was drunk.

"Come and have a drink with me, next to the company, at the old place...you must come over." Li Ming could feel through the phone that the other party seemed to have drunk quite a bit of wine, but before he could answer, the other party had already hung up.

Li Ming hesitated for a moment as he looked at the hung up phone. Should he go? Or not? She has a boyfriend, why would she look for me? Although I know her, I'm not that familiar with her.
