In the smoky battlefield, Houndoom stood still, its sharp, glowing eyes scanning for threats. Its lack of a smoke-clearing move left it disadvantaged in the thick haze. Suddenly, a swift figure broke through the mist—Frogadier, gripping a kunai, darted toward Houndoom's throat like a streak of lightning.
"Flamethrower!" shouted Tabitha, his voice echoing with authority.
Houndoom reacted instinctively, unleashing a torrent of flames. Frogadier was consumed instantly, but the real target was untouched—it had only been a shadow clone. Tabitha's eyes narrowed in suspicion. Had Frogadier created another Double Team after Houndoom's Eruption attack? No, this was something else.
As Houndoom reeled, Frogadier surged from behind, water rippling around it as it streaked forward, kunai aimed at Houndoom's unguarded back. "Aqua Jet plus Cut," Tabitha muttered. "This one's real."
"Lightning Fang, now!" Tabitha commanded, but Houndoom had just used Flamethrower. Even its sharp reflexes couldn't recover fast enough to counter the attack.
Frogadier's kunai connected, leaving a deep gash on Houndoom's neck. Sparks erupted as Houndoom's jaw snapped toward Frogadier in retaliation. Electricity surged in a wild current, but there was no satisfying crunch of flesh—only the harsh clash of teeth meeting a fake. Another Substitute!
Tabitha scowled in frustration. The relentless frog had outmaneuvered him again. Both he and John assessed the battlefield. The haze was thinning, revealing Frogadier's real body, poised behind Houndoom with water pooling around it.
"Water Pulse!" John commanded, his voice cutting through the tension.
The attack struck true, hurling Houndoom across the battlefield. Struggling to stand, Houndoom swayed unsteadily, its limbs faltering. Tabitha grimaced. "Damn it—Water Pulse triggered confusion!"
Sensing victory, John seized the opportunity. "Quick Attack, Cut!" he ordered. Frogadier darted forward in a blur, its kunai slicing through the air with deadly precision. Houndoom let out one final growl before collapsing, unable to rise again.
[Defeated Houndoom (LV 40). Frogadier gained 3,102 EXP.
[Level up: LV 35!]
John's breath caught as Frogadier began to glow. A radiant light enveloped it, its small frame elongating and maturing. When the glow faded, Greninja stood tall, its blade-like limbs gleaming with power.

"Greninja," John murmured, awe in his voice. But something puzzled him. Frogadier had evolved despite being one level shy. Then it clicked—Pokemon in the real world could evolve through sheer determination, transcending game mechanics. John chuckled, shaking his head. "I can't treat this like a Gameboy game anymore."
Tabitha's frustration boiled over. "Electivire, Thunder Punch!" he barked, throwing another Pokeball into the fray. Electivire landed with a thud, its fist crackling with electricity as it lunged for Greninja.
"Gabite, Dragon Claw!" John countered. His trusty dragon leaped into action, intercepting Electivire with a resounding slash. Gabite shrugged off Electivire's electric attacks, its Ground typing rendering them useless, while its own attack left deep gouges in Electivire's armor.
Tabitha scowled, releasing yet another Pokemon—a massive Camerupt. "Camerupt, Double-Edge! Block them both!" The enormous camel charged, forcing Gabite to momentarily disengage.
Greninja faced Electivire alone, Tabitha grinned in anticipation of a swift knockout.
The battle was far from finished yet, as John face Tabitha as his full power!
